duuude awesome work! meshuggah is one of the hardest bands to play along with, and you do it kinda easily, you got the "feeling" for the music, sweet! tight drums -> 5/5
Man, this is absolutely fantastic! The beat NEVER made sense to me, but of course, I'm not a drummer ;-) Anyways, great cover, favorite Meshuggah song!
No time for a band! It's you avocation not your day job... I suffer from the same dilemma but your dilemma is a closet genius drummer - "do I do this for a living a or not?" Great job thanks for sharing! Inspiring
Fucking awesome man! Great work! Covering Meshuggah says alot about your capabilities as a drummer. I don't know you at all but from what I've seen, you seem to have the skill to really make something out of your drumming! I'm surprised to hear that you're not in a band! I'd hate to think about all that talent going to waste! :P
Thanks for the awesome cover(s) and actually mixing your drums properly. Too many people half-ass these videos and try to cover it up by mixing real low.
i love that ... you are one awesome drummer dude, veery tight, you seem to have fun and are comfortable behind the kit playing those awesome figures. i am jealous :) keep going
i close my eyes and i can swear its haake himself. amazing job man i wish i could play any meshuggah song half as good as you. only song i know are Soulburn, Inside What's Within Behind and im learning The Exquisite Machinery of Torture but its got a killer polymeter.
@needlearmor @billiamwalker Well actually it all depends on one's drumming style and experience. The reason Bleed took longer than all the other songs (for Haake) is because the other songs are all rhythmically challenging and polyrhythmic/polymetric as balls. That's Haake's style and therefore he's used to it and good at it. Most typical metal drummers are just really fast and endurant at extreme double-bass speeds, but never tried insane polyrhythms like those in TMLWYB.
Great, great, great job! I wish I could play 10% of it ! ;) Could you tell me which cymbal (probably a china) you're playing on 1:16, during Thordendal solo ? I'm looking for a smaller china just like this.
I got a way to look at er that might help: @ 0:22, the drums are, as you know, based on the simple guitar chug. The guitar chug, alas, is in 5/16th timing~ 4 quick chugs and 1 rest. The Meshuggah way is to repeat this, uncomprimised, and wrap er into 4/4. So. Take your 8th note HH and throw the snare on the 2nd, thats right, the SECOND beat out of the 5; the 2nd guitar chug. I cant do it worth a shit... I just understand the chunks of timing in alota Meshuggah. Hope that helps, somewhat...
I have a question since you obviously use Iron Cobras; my.. connection rod(?) between the pedals, the one that makes the left pedal move the left beater you know (sorry I suck at explaining, even more in english, since I'm from germany :D) anyways, that thing seems pretty heavy on my pedals, and it kinda feels awkward under my foot, like the pedal gets too slow to really move with my feet when I try to play around 130-150bpm with the left foot.. do you know anything?
is that bassdrum triggered or just mic'd cos it sounds fucking amazing . and if it is mic'd what mic's are you using so i can start writing a shopping list :)
Great Job, man. Where in Canada you from? I play drums in eSIKa. I also did the singing on the tracks we recorded. Were looking for a drummer so i can sing. Singers are hard to get. Unless ya wanna fall in the beat at the end of each meas. Lemme know how ya like our stuff, either way.. nice to get some comments by someone who 'gets it'.. not Asss complicated as Meshuggah but im no Haake, or you, for that matter so if ya like the stuff we got now, it'd just be better with you drummin. ~Web
@stupidguyaabbcc This song is harder than Bleed, at least from a rhythmic standpoint; the only Bleed riff that's really difficult because of it's polyrhythmic nature is the fourth one (starts at about 2:30). I can cover the whole song on guitar, but I understand the drumming just as well so I know what I'm talking about.
i play ALOT of heel toe and i have found that you really need a pedal set up the right way to do it. so far i've only been able to do it flawlessly on my own pedal out of the many i've tried.
I think they would get Morgan Agren the guy who plays with Fredrik Thordendal on Sol Niger Within. i dont know how he would go with meshuggahs style but im preety sure he has the ability from what ive heard.
The best thing about this song is how it sounds like the drums are off beat with the rest of the band but it really isnt and it sounds fucking badass
hey avocation was on a vocab assignment i did in english today for Tale of Two Cities. CONNECTIONS FOR THE WIN
An excellent cover for a ridiculously hard song. This song destroys worlds.
Your kit sound phenomenal.

fuckin awsome dude, i played drums in a meshuggah coverband for awhile in toronto. awsome job!
How many times did you practice this? How did you approach covering the song, just playing it over and over, or did you tab out the drum part?
Wonder if you did that stop (black screen) just becouse you were tired or you had just to take a moment to remember the next beat ; ]
Damn, nice work, man!!
Could you make a cover of future breed machine?
awesome!
this shit is a solid performance, good shit on timing
you are a freaking machine
So fucking awesome, great work!!!!
is that bassdrum triggered or just mic'd cos it sounds fucking amazing . and if it is mic'd what mic's are you using so i can start writing a shopping list :)
wow thats fucking amazing how did you figure out how to do the main beat during the verses i cant figure it out
@uni555 I bet you can by now! Perfect cover btw.

Great Job, man.

what snare head is that!! and how did you tune it?? mint cover btw!
meshuggah will also use polymetrics and i believe that is when you play two opposing rhythms at once and they will always lock in time at one point
Nice job, dude.
I like this kid alot.
thomas haake beats are so fucking good!!!! You played it perfect
@stupidguyaabbcc

What a fuckin achievement man, that's awesome.

Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice!
This song is all over the fuckin' place. Very good job. You should try Bleed.
respect man!
I think they would get Morgan Agren the guy who plays with Fredrik Thordendal on Sol Niger Within. i dont know how he would go with meshuggahs style but im preety sure he has the ability from what ive heard.
