Thanks for the in depth review...looks like a really nice kit! It's a nice surprise to see the sprocket gates in the inner side instead of the standard tip. Putting this kit on my watch list!!
Asuka/Tasca make the best Shermans for sure :) Thanks for the review, this would be a great piece for a diorama. Seems off to have a few pin marks and a bit of flash, maybe just old molds or a bad batch of plastic...? I also really liked the presentation of the video. Background and lighting are perfect!
thanks Ev ! I though I was a little rusty with the presentation but glad to know it was just me :) I think the molds maybe getting a little old or they had a mold slip perhaps but nothing too bad and nothing we can't handle would love to do a dio with this machine but we shall see ;)
You sir are very hard to get ahold of? but anyway as always awesome review. I love Tasca or Asuka models the Cadillac of Sherman kits ;). but their newest one "I think" I going by the box art not sure it just came out?, I bought it and it has no decals at all? The instructions were just thrown in the Box, in no order to it? Not in foldout sheet or book form. Not a big deal but again odd. Trying to get started on your Sherman tank group build. But had some questions. Start/end. Also are you safe from that storm heading your way?. I know bla bla bla. If you are good luck.
firstly I am out of the storm, the brunt of it will be hitting us but we are locked down and got plenty of pints so will be grand ;) Tasca / Asuka are properly the best Shermans kits out there, the kit I have has a different boxart as they seem re-release a lot of their kits. Though I have never encountered bad handling like you found, maybe it was a once off or a disgruntled employee looking forward to seeing your entry, what are you going for ?
question .......how do you glue the parts that you paint already .....as like a tank or so ...never seen that on your movies .....i have problems with my paint and the glue ....hope you show in one of your movies to .
I shall include this step in a future video, but what I normally do is carefully use tiny amounts of Tamiya Extra Thin applied to the center of the painted parts avoiding the edges to prevent glue seeping onto areas you don't want, the trick is to use a little glue as possible and keep a steady hand hope this helps Shane
I couldn't get one but did get a couple of the new re releases of the Italiri one and have a few Asuka and tasca kits and a front gear box cover from my meng jumbo and have a while Tasca kit there to use it's the Japanese decal Sherman m4a3 Hvss kit! Never built it was saving it to do something like this with! got loads spares all I'm away to use is the ARV ARV equipment the whinch n crane etc the rest will be a hybrid of meng and Asuka/Tasca kit bashing sounds crappy when it should really look fantastic mixing with these kits I have with all the spares I've left over from them! I have 2 of the AFV club m88 ARVs they have the same crane don't know if be same size like I might have a wee noisey through my see what like! But been looking forward to starting this build my own saved part way! Lol it's the large hatch option the mounts are on for the Italiri upper cast hull I have link n link spare tracks from my meng jumbo with duckbills too for it! Hopefully the thing will look the dogs bokolics lol
Hi Shane I'm going to go for it and am thinking of having my own channel. The difference is I've only ever made one model . I am very artistic and good with my hands etc. So my selling point is going to be let's learn together sort of thing . I have spent six months watching many videos on UA-cam and find your style very interesting . I hope to become a part of the community as I am having to give up work due to illness . I was wondering if after I have done my first video I could let you see it to critique it and give advice . Would love to swap details . Also i have noticed you sometimes are using old brushes waiting for new ones to come , now my dad who is long passed was among lots of things an artist and also he worked for civil service . He was chief designer for RAF so he had access to items and after going through his stuff I have come across litually hundreds of new brushes and It would be an honour to send you some , they are top quality . So if you could give me an address I will send asap . Keep up the good work . I couldn't see any other way of contacting you other than leaving a UA-cam message
thanks for the comment, keep you a hold onto those brushes you will need them for your channel ! :) as for channel ya will be happy to give you come advice whenever you get around to making videos
Hi Shane I'm a big fan of your work ! But since I started loocking you vids I always wanted to know what is your accent..? If It's ok for you to answer of course
Haha Thank you man :) Well now It makes sense why you did the Firefly from the Irish Guards ;) And I'm quit happy to understand your accent as a non-English speaker !
also try to do some Irish subjects, as we were neutral in the war many Irishmen joined the Irish Regiments of the British Army to fight so I like modelling some their subjects also I am happy to you can understand my accent as many English speakers can find our accents and ways of expressions difficult to understand
Yes I understand :) I would like to do the same with the Belgian army but We just fight during 18 days and then We surrender.. Yes but yours is ok for me :)
not always to be fair Italeri has some very nice models but its Sherman kits are simplified or old molds, though it seems a lot of Asian manufacturers seem to have more resources at their disposal
Shane Smyth - scale models oh I see, but what about trumpeter and dragon. My dad always says trumpeter sucks because he once bought a trumpeter mig-29 and he said that the quality of the model sucks
newer releases from Trumpeter are good, they have really come along in the last few years, and Dragon are some of the best on the market, though some of their newer releases are beginning to show the signs of money saving measures
Thanks for the in depth review...looks like a really nice kit! It's a nice surprise to see the sprocket gates in the inner side instead of the standard tip.
Putting this kit on my watch list!!
its a great kit ! would strongly recommend it !

Asuka Shermans are properly the best on the market !
Good review Shane. Mine rollers would look awesome.

Woot. One of my most favorite vehicles.

Should be a lovely build with it being an asuka. Make a lovely centre piece for a dio
thanks Mark ! ya it would make a great centerpiece for a dio, there's a lot of great photos of the M32 out there that would make for great dios !
Very unusual and interesting model. Will there be a video about building and painting?
Yes at some point in the future there will be :)
I'm sold on the post 90's German night club string.....😄
hahah we are living the life :P hahaah

Shane Smyth - scale models
I honestly have inherited hundreds
we'' if you don't mind then I would be honored to take a few of them, besides the channel could use as much support as it can get
Hi Shane I'm a big fan of your work ! But since I started loocking you vids I always wanted to know what is your accent..? If It's ok for you to answer of course

my accent is Irish :)

even with 18days fighting they defended their country non the less :)
Compare this with italeri's version which is better
I would always go with Asuka over Italeri any day of the week
Shane Smyth - scale models what in Japan products are always better right
not always to be fair Italeri has some very nice models but its Sherman kits are simplified or old molds, though it seems a lot of Asian manufacturers seem to have more resources at their disposal
