It sucks getting older, except for the knowledge you gain from age.
i said that same thing the other day .
Ya until you lose it all from dimensia.
@@Erin78456 that doesn't happen to the majority of people .
Nah, just a natural process, embrace it, appreciate it, just being alive.
@@pappy451 believe it or not past 80 it’s 50/50
I would've loved to have seen Justin from BOD buy that stone, what an absolute beauty! These gentlemen are my favorite duo.
Yeah I would have liked to have seen Justin cut that one.
Black opals fascinating stones always joy to handle.
That buyer seems like a real nice guy; he seems honest and he wants to help them. I know he does. He just doesn’t want to get screwed.
His prices are pretty legit too. I have been looking at buying some opal from him
@@mattsmith6321
That is so cool; he seems like a great guy. I’d like to buy some myself to be honest. I just wouldn’t know where to start.
Lol you can't read people at all. If you think he's sincere lol. That stone is already valued at 55k.
@@JohnWick-stardawg well he needs some profit too u know
@@haven6254 well the person who valued it at 55k is also a dealer and would have factored in her profit too, so this honest sincere guy just made 6k plus whatever the other dealer factored as profit which is probably another 5 to 8k. So he's making 11 to 14k profit.
Whereas the lads selling the stone have gone ages without getting paid all while still mining, using equipment, diesel, manpower and time. How much of that 49k the lads received is really profit after the cost of living and mining overheads have been factored in.
You stay gullible though, fellas like that smarmy dealer love fellas like you. Why wouldn't he when a fella like you walks into his nice air conditioned office and he makes 11 to 14k without breaking a sweat or risk his life.
4:11 Australian cars are as beautiful as their opal
Both the buyer and seller played a very good game of Psychology and poker face in this deal.
a success that results from hard work results in its own success Good job sir.
Your Fire and Ice opal is an amazing piece. Absolutely beautiful.
so happy for you both xx
Poor Pete, he really wants to do the best he can and I know he wants better for himself and Sam. It breaks my heart watching him negotiate just trying to make enough to get by and improve his life and his business.
Thats literally how life and business works
If it’s that bad for him he should find other employment
It’s a fake show, and they make plenty of cash each episode

No doubt
49 is perfect : ) good find guys : )
I had a total shoulder replacement and I know what that feels like!
I love Australians!! Good people and beautiful women!
Great one.
They expected 50k And got 49k Thats really pretty fucking good.
he went for someone to clean it and got a 120k stone from it
@@TheBarbahaba you can buy this exact opal for 95k on opalauctions
It is selling for $133,000 aud on opal auctions so I reckon they could get a better price
In this he originally started his price at 2k per carat at 41 carats so that would be 82k asking price and then technically he asked for 60k by saying it would cut into a 30 carat stone. So he got quite a bit less than he was thinking. And no I dont think this is the same fire and ice stone either
@@TheBarbahaba aye theres a risk though, what if the cleaner ruined it and it was worth way less.
This show is almost wholesome the way the true blue bloody strailians get along with one another. Way different from American TV. True legends
Well done
I remember 25years ago selling at the hotel.working the 7mile good old day's never again lol.
Based on what we can see of the stone, I can see a 15-20 carat stone and then two smaller stones. So the gem buyer is robbing them blind!
It just got listed at 125k OBO as a 33ct stone. Very pretty but the cobite needles are still in the face so probably won't sell at that price.
2:19 beautiful colors
Paul is an awesome retailer! I highly recommend him.
Surgery on his left shoulder but hurt his right one...
hope he get well soon.
Does anyone from the QUEST youtube team know when more episodes of series 4 of Outback Opal Hunters will be added to discovery+? Much appreciated!

Hard work always pays off no matter who you are where your from make good choices and anyone will be successful in this world! Good stuff boys!
Hope these boys get some better luck. It seems they take 1 step forewarn then something happens and knocks them 2 steps back.
The guy in red looking Justin Bieber at times lolll
I reckon that was fair dinkums. Fair play to the buyer.
Can't use his arm, but gives the guy a firm handshake no problem. Lol.

Bloody awesome 👏 well done you guys 🙂

Buyer's a assassin
I love it black opal this is how much fot sell
great show way better than gold rush
5:00 rock
yes
He should get more for this stone
That’s the plan lol
Do Aussies only get vehicles in White?
That kid has a lot to learn about pulling his own weight, looks like the old man works 5 times as hard as he does.
Considering he doesn't get paid much would you blame him. Why make other people rich with your pain and blood
no shit he does, he has like 50 times as much experience aswell
If Sam wasn't pulling his weight Peter would give him the arse very quickly. He does have a lot to learn but who doesn't at that age.
If I went down into an opal mine I wouldn’t come out until my arms were full of opal lol
This is all scripted
@@deussanguinius4263 Dramatised but definitely not scripted
Your gonna be down there a while

It might be worth thousands , or I might be wrong !
Yeah what doesn't kill you makes you stronger and it can also put you in a wheelchair.
good point.
WOWO
Are these prices USD OR AUSD?
Wow!! I had a black opal a little bigger than that one for many yrs.
I never knew how much it was worth. Now I don't even know where it is.
My mom had one, too.
@Susan Stamper they're Beautiful aren't they!!
I will do anything for to work for you Pete...
im related to the bloke they talk to
Jigsaw is selling opal
please explain the pricing,. he wanted 2000 a carat and the guy offered 48 a carat?
The guy offered 48000 for the whole stone, thats around 1170.- a carat.
The buyer checked for impurities, chips, and crazing throughout the stone. Also, because it is an irregular shape, they need to bring size down to either a round or oval therefore it will be less carat weight. And it is a partial rub, if it had been completely cut and polished already the 2k a carat price would be more realistic.
exactly as Steve Romero said plus the seller said it had some flaws and that's why he didn't cut it any further .
??? If he didn't sell it, what are they living on & mining on then???
"We don't need our mundane jobs where we make money, we want beautiful gems!"
"Well it's just a pretty stone but what we really want is money for it."
Sounds kinda contradictory lmao.
It does but depends on the situation at the time. From what they said on the downtime, they needed the money, not just want it.
I guessed 40k :)
Paul McCartney anyone
75k
You know he made 3 rand a carat on that.
How do we know that?
Just seeing this for the first time. I can’t believe how much a stone can bring. If I had to choose between a diamond or opal, I’d take an opal all day long. You have color to look at instead of looking at something that is clear just like glass.🤷♂️ Diamonds do nothing for me
They didnt do much negotiating they only got $1000 bucks more than the dealers original offer!
that's an old ass bruise
Actually, he didn't sell it, he had it carved into a $120,000 double sided super collector gem. Named it fire and ice.
Hahaha wrong that’s a totally different opal 🤦♂️
Na dude that's a different stonr
Wrong

@@eillswim why does everyone always have something negative to say?
@@dgafbrapman688 . . . why is an opposing view labeled as negative ?
@@pappy451 its the condescending tone, not the words or view point
I think this buyer is not giving them the right price! Right away he looks at it and immediately finds a problem and it drops the price down by 20,000! That Opal is worth at least $65000.00!
Probably could have gotten more
What would you do if I told you if it was $9,000 per gram n3 brite'ness of 5 and all the collers mmm 2 earrings gold an platnum $65,000 to $100,000 in the perfect jewellery earrings 100%
Finished jewelry and rough stones are two different things.
Lmao honestly
Im not at all a stone expert however by the look of it i would have to say
THIS UNIQUE STONE. HAS GOT A PRICE TAG OF SAYING .........
PRICELESS AS YOU CANT STICK A PRICE ON IT AS THEY SAY IF YOU HAVE TO ASK THE PRICE YOU CANT AFFORD IT. IM NOT RICH OR SMART ON THIS BUT THAT WOULD BE MY ABSOLUTELY BEST GUESS IF I WERE TO BE ASKED
Lmao how can you make a deal with all that money but have a broken scale
whatever doesn't kill you makes you weaker.
It goes both ways.
People seem to think that the minors are being ripped off haven't thought about what it takes to get to the consumer. Minor, cutter, middle man/ jewler, shop, salesmen then consumer. Plus transport between and also the packaging of the item. Running costs, profit, risk taken and insurances for each link in a very long chain.
@Deus Ex says a lot about someones charachter when they can't be bothered to look for th reasoning and or point out a simple mistake that is easily made to make themselves feel better. You are either a bully or someone who was bullied good luck in life even though you don't deserve it.
