I love this. My granddaughter is starting kindergarten this fall. My husband (her Opa) is German, and our daughter and son-in-law will be giving her a schultüte. We actually found one on Amazon, here in the USA. I'm going to send our daughter a link to this video, to give her some ideas. Thanks!

Tissue paper looks and sounds like "Seidenpapier" which you should get in a Schreibwarengeschäft or Papeterie.
Mine had candy inside and stars outside.
In North America they'd probably get trackers, camera, microphone and heart rate monitor, right? 😜

We never called the Schulranzen a "Tornister" here in our area in Hessen; this is a term I would directly connect with military equipment. But I know that this is quite different around the country, so yes, some people do call it this way. (Stress is on the second syllable, TorNISter).

We never heard “Tornister” in southern Bavaria either. Or Berlin. We always called it Schulranzen.
I am from NRW (near Dortmund) too and we ALWAYS said "Tornister"!

Du hast eine wirklich gute Aussprache, was mich wundert, da US-Amerikaner oft Schwierigkeiten haben mit bestimmten Silben! Du Ahorn nicht, also allerhöchsten Respekt für deine Deutschkenntnisse und besonders für deine Aussprache!
Habe mir die letzten Tage viele deiner Videos angesehen, da es mich interessiert wie Ausländer Deutschland sehen und hier klar kommen. Ist ja alles gar nicht so einfach sich in einen anderen Land zurechtzufinden, sprich hier anzukommen!
Wollte damals so gerne nach Kanada, denke ist ein tolles Land, hat aber leider nicht geklappt.
Was mich doch sehr gewundert hat ist das Kanada (Großstädte) scheinbar sehr US-Amerikanisch zu sein scheinen.
Supermarkt, Essen/Großpackungen, breite Straßen, schlechtes Nahverkehrsmittel, wenig Radfahrer u.s.w.! Hoffe du versteht worauf mein Eindruck beruht!
Erzähl doch mal in einen Video die Unterschiede zwischen Kanada und den USA! (Sozialsystem wie ich mitbekommen habe scheint ja ähnlich dem deutschen zu sein, aber Arbeit (häufig nur 10 Tage Jahresurlaub) doch sehr dem US-System. Auch beim Trinkgeld oder den hohen Lebensmittelpreisen scheint es so wie in den USA zu sein.
Hätte eigentlich gedacht das Kanada sich doch "sehr" von den USA unterscheidet, aber das scheint wohl nicht der Fall zu sein!

Where are you? None of the areas we have lived in have allowed the Schultüten to be opened at school. They get carried to school on the first day, packed around during the celebrations, carried home and then opened. Lol
I received a Zuckertüte for each new learning phase, such as starting school, starting "Gymnasium", starting "Technische Hochschule".
You're children are very fortunate to have you for a mother. School is a Big Deal in a child's life and they need all the encouragement and support they can get. Congratulations Mom: nice work!!😊
Wir hatten Kinderschnitzmesser in der Zuckertüte von Haba
Wow!!! Ich hatte damals (nicht in der Schultüte) auch ein Schnitzmesser und ich habe es soooo geliebt, kam mir vor wie Michel aus Lönnerberga, der auch immer geschnitzt hat, wenn er mal wieder in den Schuppen gesperrt wurde.😂 Ich hab echt viele coole Dinge geschnitzt und die dann an Weihnachten meiner Verwandtschaft geschenkt. Ob die sich gefreut haben? Ich WEIß es nicht.🙈 Aber ich war stolz wie Bolle, durfte kreativ sein und man traute mir zu, mit so etwas "Gefährlichem" wie einem Messer, zu hantieren. Mir tat dieses Vertrauen gut, ich war stolz, ich war glücklich und produktiv. Bitte tu ein Schnitzmesser in die Schultüte!!!!!!!

I don't know your son but if he has half the fun exploring the contents of his Schultüte as you had packing it, he's certainly going to have a very happy first day at school.
Seeing you in full blown mom-mode I'd like to apply for a probable vacant position of adopted son! Granted, it'll look a tiny bit awkward and you'd have a bit of explaining to do with a new child almost twice your age but if I promise to be good? Pretty please?🤡🤡😂
Looking back 52 years, my Schultüte was a shiny plastic one with planets, moons and stars on it and it was filled with candy, nuts (strange as it was September, come to think of it) and different kinds of fruit.
Yeah, yeah...grandpa's speaking of the war again...oh, leave me alone...🤡😁💛
I almost forgot: have you seen an old black and white movie called "Harvey" with James Stewart? Stewart plays an eccentric man with a very unique friend only he is able to see: a six foot tall white rabbit named Harvey. And when you took out the pillowy carrot-like filling my mind immediately went back to that movie and I thought "that would be something Harvey would've liked". If you haven't, please spare a little time at next easter and watch this absolutely charming family movie...🫶
Hahahaha I really did probably have TOO much fun filming this video 😂🙈💛 I’m so excited for my son! I feel like a kid in a candy store getting to learn all these new things about germany right now! He just went today to meet his class and future teacher .. I was way more pumped than him 😂🫶
