Getting Flashpoint on my computer was one of the best, most fun, most nostalgic things I've ever done. I pull up the Kim Possible Bueno Nacho or Teen Titans fighting games with friends on discord more than I'd like to admit lol
I was always a 625 sandwich stacker guy myself, but I think I played Bueno Nacho as a kid and liked it.
I found it because I was desperate to play the "Flirting On (school/festival/beach)" game.
As a long-time DollDivine member, I am so happy with how far Ruffle has come! Ola is doing her best to keep all the flash dress-up games running using ruffle, which means most of the site is completely useable today, drag-and-drop included. She’s also hosting Rinmaru’s games after that site shut down, and is still creating new dress-up games using the Meiker format. It may not be the same as it was ten years ago, but I owe so much to Ola and her team for keeping her site alive and thriving!
As someone with a neocities who's been dying to make a dress up game, thank you for mentioning Meiker, googling it really helped a lot
Rinmaru shut down? That sucks! I'm glad its games are being preserved though, that's a big relief.
Oh that's awesome to hear! I was just gonna make a comment about how sad I was about all the dressup game sites after flash died, I'm so glad they've been preserved!
Oh no! Not Rinmaru! I have so much respect for Ola and I'm happy to hear that she's preserving the games from Rinmaru. I always assumed that she and the hosts of the other doll creation game sites were friends. I was delighted earlier this year to discover that the Sailor Moon Maker 3.0 was available to play again! I actually have nostalgia for those sites from the late 2010's 😅
Omg im so happy to see another dolldivine user 😭I feel like im the only one who still plays it anymore. Im so so grateful for the team for keeping the site running and refusing to let it die, but i don't know how to access any news regarding the site. That or im blind.
My heart stopped when you described what happened to Buster. I'm so sorry this happened to you. I don't have a ton of money to give but please tell Buster he is loved and we're all hoping he makes a total and full recovery.
Aw, Buster's so cute! My parents have a cat named Buster too that everybody loves because he's a little cuddlebug but also a mischeivous bastard, lol. Also god, I *adored* the Orisinal games on American Girl back in the day, thank you for letting me know who the creators of them was!
Interactive buddy was my favourite flash game, I thought it was immortalized on the AppStore but unfortunately it wasn’t. I hope its creator eventually does this because it was so much fun to play. The gravity sphere was one of my favourites especially when you launch it around the room without a ceiling lmao.
the sequel used to be on the app store, but it was later taken down for whatever reason. iirc, you used to be able to make contraptions and torture the buddies even more
i remember that game getting banned at my elementary school because i think a teacher saw my friend and i play it and just... torture the heck out of him.
Unfortunately its wildly popular clone game called like Kick The Buddy is the only thing on the app store. I never actually played Interactive Buddy back in the day, but once i have a PC of my own I can download flashpoint on that’s one of the first game’s I’ll try!
Time to waste my day away playing nothing but house decorating games like the good ol days
Which games in particular? The one I used to love was the Barbie bedroom decoration game.
Neopets just added Ruffle to their servers, bringing back 50ish of the Flash games on their site. Most of the major fan favorites are functional, and they've mentioned that they will be updating as further stable versions of Ruffle are released!
@@june5831 apparently TNT is much more responsive currently regarding account recovery than they have been in the past!
I remember using ruffle to access the animations/games in Homestuck and Redditstuck a few months ago :)
There's actually a standalone application to read Homestuck now, and Hussie has even endorsed it over the original site (which they no longer own, it was sold to Viz Media, I believe.)
Yeah they completely destroyed like every flash game but openbound I'm so mad 😭
@@flowerfloofs it's like Homestuck but with 16 kids instead of 4, I didn't get past the first ten pages or so tho so I don't know much (and this was months ago so I don't remember much either)
I cannot describe with words how happy I am that you mentioned Blue rabbit's climate chaos - I have been looking for this game for SUCH A LONG TIME! I barely remembered anything from it, so just looking up some keywords (rabbit storm was my best guess) lead me nowhere. I am sosososososososoooo happy I finally found it thanks to you! You're really doing gods job with this tbh :D
I've been using Flashpoint for a year now. It's been a huge help! And I agree, playing flash games is so much better than doom scrolling.
omg when i saw the american girl ones.... 🥺
my childhood rly came flashing back to me. i adored those games so much .. always gonna miss browser games
I use Flashpoint thanks to your Sue video. My sisters and I use the shit out of it and have been able to play nostalgic games thanks to you. I just wish it had some other more specific games, but I guess beggars can’t be choosers
the basic flashpoint install used to be like 50 gigs so thank you for letting me know that it's gone down lol!
i actually got my 2 kitties similarly to buster; when i lived out in the desert we got them from a foster that saved and weaned them after getting thrown on the street :( they're doing wonderfully now though, six years strong! i'm sure buster will do great through the rest of his appointments! :)
I hope this channel will grow as fast as Izzzyzzz did, I love this type of content and it's clear that u both do amazing work at researching for these videos! 💗
donated what i could for your kitty! i hope you're able to get the money you need to help him. my cat cozmo came from a similar situation (was abandoned on the streets, sick when we found him and needed to be treated + needed his shots and to be neutered) so i know any help can go a long way.
thank you so much for this video :) i had actually forgotten all about sushi cat until now and it instantly made me remember how much i loved that game when i was a kid
THANK YOU for mentioning Tasty Planet!!!!! Easily my favorite flash game as a kid, the soundtrack was so great and so unlike any other games I'd played at that point. I feel like not enough people talk about it anymore!!
I'm not sure how popular these were in the US but Nitrome has made so many good flash games, Bad Ice Cream being the most popular here in Brazil among almost every Gen Z kid. I'd love to see you cover their games in a video.
Omg I’m in the US and I know Nitrome!! I was hesitant to trust external sites from the ones I knew at the time so I didn’t ever see their full catalog, but one of my regular flash game sites had Skywire, which I was OBSESSED with. Skywire and Skywire 2 are some of my favorite flash games to this day!
@@risxraAaaa!! I googled it and I remember playing the shit out of this game! It was so cute and so much fun!
Omg I googled it, Bad Ice Cream was so good 😭 also kinda scary lol I remember freaking out in the final levels when the enemy was soooo fast
I realized flash wasnt dead at all after i watched your polly video and i looked up “polly pocket pet pals” and then played it on my phone 😭 i wasn’t expecting to be able to play it so i was very pleasantly surprised but also confused why everyone made it seem like flash games were gonna disappear forever
Idk why I didn't look into this sooner, but the flashpoint archive has some of my favorite games! This video finally pushed me into checking. I've been particularly nostalgic lately about a few of my favorite dating sims that went unplayable, Kaleidoscope and Kaleidoscope II (Apparently there's another one where you play as Cero, instead of Soffie). Idk my teen self really latched onto these games and they mean a lot to me. They were the first games that I encountered that allowed the player to choose a WLW option.
15:15 I thought it'd be worth mentioning that Poptropica is completely playable on Flashpoint atleast the older islands lol
I remember Orisinal! Those games were so pretty and chill. Also recognized a bunch of other games you featured. Flash gaming was my preferred time waster back in its heyday. Thank you for this.
Oh my god Some else who remebers horseland!!!!!! When i was little we didnt have cable in any of the bedrooms so when i was sick and staying in my bed i could only watch what was publicly accessible. Which was pbs kids, or qcube (or something i dont remember exactly) and the horseland into was seared into my brain. Mostly because i grew up on a ranch so i felt the same as all these rich girl with there own horses in a stable. Idk i was 8
Sushi Cat took up most of my summer between 5th and 6th grade, and I’d play it again in a heartbeat.
when you put the orisinal cat game on screen i teared up immediately. i couldnt have come up with that memory by myself and i treasured those pet sitting games so so much despite not being an Animal Fan kind of kid. thank you li speaks!!!
Oh my god I forgot about Orisinal thank you so much for reminding me
Now that we all have flashpoint you should make a video on your favorite flash games if you haven't already. i have a hard time remembering all the ones i played as a kid and id love to see a video of you sharing your favorites.
Thank you SO MUCH for mentioning Orisinal! I knew about Net Pet and its sister games, but I couldn't find the site post-Flash for the life of me since there weren't credits.
If there's any mega obscure game I wish someone could relate with, it's this Extremely old Disney site where you could create 2D puppet scenes/contraptions. Loved the animal ones in particular. I found some files via Flashpoint, like the frog and bird templates, but there's no video evidence or ANYTHING and it makes me so sad 😭
I think I know what you're talking about! Sadly idk the specific names, but are you talking about those comic makers? I used to live off of making and watching animal drama comics. Iirc, it might've been a Disney XD site? I just remembered it looked really dark and metallic for a Disney site, even though it was official.
EDIT: It was called Disney Create!
There seems to be literally only one video showing how it worked made by a ten year old. 😂 ua-cam.com/video/5sKXZRzdvIA/v-deo.html
@@crypticcorvid Yeah you got it!! Great to know that I'm not crazy haha! I was too young to navigate the site or actively participate on it much, but I remember the front page and the scrolling app selection.
I just looked it up in Flashpoint again now that I'm on my pc. The animal puppets were called animods! Users would make replicas of pets in all of the Disney shows, like Perry the Platypus. I wasted so much time on there lol
i wish inkagames was talked about more. i think its more popular in spanish speaking side of the internet, but it MADE my childhood. they were a HUGE amount of well crafted, entertaining puzzle/adventure point and click games where most of the time OBAMA like the PRESIDENT was the main player. they were made in flash and im still trying to play them but whenever i try they just dont work well and i dont know what to do. but theyre so interesting still and i really miss playing them
Flash Museum is also good
You showcasing eyemaze during the ruffle segment you’re my hero. That was my favorite game growing up and the artist for it is still active on Twitter !
as someone who is totally obsessed with internet nostalgia, i felt as if this video was a personal birthday gift
This video has now given me new hope for flash games
so much nostalgia!! At the mention of horseland I had an idea- maybe this is a bit too specific and I’m not sure if it would interest you but I feel like there were so many good horse games back in the day 😂 I’m so biased but I was such a horse kid I would love a retrospective on that! Anyway keep up the amazing work!!❤❤❤
Kidscom was one place I went to a lot as a kid. Unfortunately, not all of the games are preserved on flashpoint, especially the card maker which was my favorite as a kid. Thankfully I can still play it on the wayback machine.
You're such an angel for taking that beautiful kitty in , hope you can reach the goal ❤❤❤
Waiting for your videos and rewatching older ones weekly, Li! Thank you so much for your awesome personality, humor, research on the topic and wonderful makeup looks!
The shoutout to Ferry Halim made my heart burst 🥺 His games changed me fundamentally
Omg thanks to this video I found out the-n's "the hookup" is now available on ruffle and no longer "partially lost' 😭❤️❤️❤️
Li thank you so much for putting this video together, i finally decided to download flashpoint and all my beloved childhood games are there! 😭 i've spent hours on it playing and i feel like i'm 10 again. thank you!!! ❤
Best of luck to little Buster! He’s so adorable, I hope his vet appointments all go smoothly 🥹
Thank you soooo much for this vid! As soon as I’m able, I’m gonna try out Ruffle and Flashpoint and hopefully re-experience the flash games of my childhood.
Acheivement unlocked is a personal favorite series; it was my go to game to play in class
6:14 Sue has got to be one of my favorites! And I also remember Fireboy and Watergirl when I was a kid.
Who remembers Macromedia Flash?
Who remembers Shockwave?
Who remembers Java games?
I just read that Ruffle has made all the broken games in Neopets star working recently.
This video was so helpful and informative. Thank you! Also, Buster is so lucky that you two were there when you were. Now he can have a happy bright future. ❤
Oh geez, as soon as you mentioned Space Is Key, I started having intense flashbacks lol. I used to play that game for HOURS and that single, looping song has been permanently embedded in the back of my brain for at least 10 years.
Ooo A Key To A Time Machine To My Childhood? So Here For It 🤣🙌🏽
I love to play Castaway 2 and there was this 3rd perspective slightly top down RPG game where you're a knight and there is this specific quest I remember to find the teddy bear to give it back to the village girl. it was very grindy and buggy but it was my childhood growing up. Love your content btw!
I'm pretty sure that Ruffle has announced that they're working to update the extension to support action script 3 and release it in the near future! I'd say expect anywhere from 1-3 years which still isn't too far away!! :)
bless you for making this video - i just got the biggest wave of nostalgia ever replaying a hollie hobby muffin game, the music is so crispy but it almost made me cry
Aside from modding and playing Skyrim a lot, I also play flash games through flash point and the other flash players you mentioned. Ever since you released the star sue video plus introduction to flashpoint, I have been playing flash games a lot again recently since I haven’t gotten to for a few years. They brought me lots of comfort as a young girl in my tweens and younger childhood. It’s all I got to play when I was younger due to having an ancient and run down computer back then. I’m glad that I can still play the games I missed out on and my favorites from the past. It heals my inner child.
This video is exactly what I needed, thanks!!! I'm so excited to revisit some of my favorite flash games...
As an owner of a rescue who was found half dead and couldn’t pay to help him in the start of his life I’m happy for help you continue to pay for this little guy! I’m also getting my masters in public history so this form of historic preservation is so amazing. I’m so happy that you’re teaching others how to preserve internet history! I work as an architecture historian so my specialty doesn’t lie here, but I think what you’re doing is amazing and very necessary for future social/internet historians!!
I can’t believe your first video was made 9 months ago…your channel is growing so much I can’t wait till you reach 100k❤
I'm sorry to hear about Buster's origin story, I had a similar experience when I rescued my newest cat, Oyster. I wish you the best with his treatment and care!
some of my favorite flash games:
♣submachine (there are 10 mainline games and a few bonus games). if you like escape rooms and story heavy mystery games, these are for you.
♣cube escape (full collection available for purchase on steam). another escape room type of game. story heavy with a very cool art style.
♣run. you're a little guy and you do a run. very simple but super addicting gameplay.
♣daymare town (4 mainline games and a couple of spin-off bonus games). suuuuuper cool games where you navigate a weird town, trying to make your escape. the art style is fantastic. it's this sorta sketchy black and white art style that gives the game a dream-like feeling. the story is simple but effective.
i'd like to add trigger warnings for all the games except run. they sometimes deal with heavy topics and have some creepy imagery.
also thinks li for the awesome video! ♥
this is such an important video and i hope it reaches even more people!! thank you for the great explanations and useful tips.
I wanna say thank you for making this video, there was a specific spot the difference game I've been trying to find for so long and I could never find it until now. I almost cried playing it! I don't remember how old I was when I first found it but i was very young. The game is Dreams on Y8 (it has somewhat of a comic book art style, though its not consistent)
Ruffle has honestly been so helpful, especially since I recently re-remembered JMKits, which I used to love as a kid and would spend hours playing with the little characters like they were dolls. Same with the Manga creators and Avatar creators on Rinmaru games - it's amazing how many different stories you can make with the same select few pages.
Also, I had no idea Orisinal had other games! I used to play the pet salon and dog walking ones they had on Moshi Monsters all the time, and absolutely loved the art style the games used. I can't wait to check out the others!
I LOVE Flashpoint. Flash has been such an important part of my life and childhood and I have been so moved at the collective effort to preserve it.
I found Flashpoint a while back while watching a vod of a Wayneradiotv. It's great for looking at old games I've played. Also, Buster is adorable 🐱
Excellent video! I feel blessed that I found it today. My bf has been ‘dominating’ with his console gaming, but now, finally, I can get back into my environment.
Yay thank you so much for making this video! I've only used Y8 games, Numuki and the wayward machine for old sites, so I'm glad I can extend my list now c:
Edit: Hi Buster!! Poor baby, I know you will give him a lovely happy home.
I am ALWAYS here for a new Li Speaks video about something I haven’t thought about in years❤
i hope everyone sees this video because its so helpful and i feel like this brings to us a whole new era of relatively well curated flash game safety too! back in the day there were so many viruses
thank you! also i hope buster turns out wonderfully! 🥺💖
BABE WAKE UP NEW LI VIDEO
EEEE I was so happy to see you mention Orisinal!!! That was my fave fave fave site, I spent so much time playing the rabbit moon jumping game ❣️
Fantastic voice and respects people's time enough to just freaking get to the point lots of them are here for? Never hit that subscribe button so fast
Aw hell yeah, this is definitely getting saved for whenever I get a new laptop :D
(Li playing Glitter Cure filled me with more joy than it needed to lol😅)
The fact that I never thought to just /get flash player/ is astounding to me.. but yes I will get flashpoint if Ms. Li tells me to ❤️❤️
if you're using flashpoint or newgrounds player, i *highly recommend* the epic battle fantasy series, but also, you need og flashplayer if you want to buy the full versions of 4 and 5
it isn't the most extreme of edgelord content, but the earlier games use the r word and have edgy jokes, 5 also has edgy jokes but they're toned down and obviously satirical
sushi cat is also featured as a cameo in 5!
edit: i also LOVE duck life, bunni: how we first met, and sushi cat and have for years. bunni is, unfortunately, not archived properly and due to the attatched forum dying, you can't save, ever. i think it's an easy fix but i'm also lost with it
I always wonder how many of these flash game creators went into game development and we don't hear about them because they didn't found an indie studio.
Also if you're looking to support someone who ported their games on steam, All the monsters Den RPG's are available on steam.
I loooove your videos, they’re super fun and interesting and SO good to fall asleep to
One of my favorite flash games was Burrito Bison. I used to love the satisfaction of that goofy game had.
The first thing I did after getting the ruffle extension was check Orisinal. It was so exciting to get to play Bauns again!
I love how well researched your videos are!
the loud ass horse land intro got me hahaha i was obsessed with that show
also, thanks for the video!!! im excited to try the safer methods so that i can play the clip play series of videos. i was always fond of the black and white ones, i believe the creator went by the name ninjadoodle!
Papa's Bakeria on Flashpoint, plus countless escape games, and the occasional other odd game I remember in the moment lol but thank's seriusly for talking about Flashpoint, I believe I downloaded it after the Sue video cuz I wanted to play Cactus McCoy again :D
OMG LI IVE BEEN TRYING TO FIND ORISINAL FOR YEARS!!! that was my favorite game site as a kid, thank you!!!
OH MY GOD THANK YOU i had no idea how much you mentioning orisinal would unlock in me. getting ruffle and reliving my age 12 depressive spiral
So freaky... I'm already subscribed to you, but I suddenly felt like watching a video about how Ruffle is making it possible to view ancient websites again, & then I see you posted a video about it half an hour ago.
OMGGG CLIMATE CHAOS!!!
I remember playing this when I was younger and I loved it so much, along with a game about a platypus ??
Li, I don't know how many times I have to repost this because my comment keeps getting lost, but I audibly screamed when Hello Kitty online was shown in the she's gone Steven universe clip, this makes my request of asking you to make a Hello Kitty online deep dive video along with its predecessor Sanrio world seem possible. A source recommend is Hello Kitty wiki which has an article I made about Sanrio world, and a slightly edited Wikipedia copy and paste of Hello Kitty online. I recommend the Hello Kitty wiki due to certain information not in the wikipedia article. Thank you for listening!
6:19 another strategy you can use is sorting by date added, since alot of the more famous and popular ones were added more.
You can combine this with tags to get a bunch of cool games.
You revived some fond tweenage memories with Achievement Unlocked. Time for me to run face first into the nostalgia
I downloaded Flashpoint a few days ago, and it's so amazing playing all the games I loved as a kid. My brother is excited too. Yesterday, we found a game he played when he was younger, and it had a 2-player mode, so we tried it out and had so much fun. I stunk at it, but we were laughing and joking about it like we were kids again. Who would expect a game with a title like "Territory War" and a metal soundtrack could turn into such a happy moment?
Please talk about the Kung Fu Panda virtual world and Dizzywood, because they are so obscurely nostalgic!
YOURE AN ANGEL SENT FROM HEAVEN!!! Almost all the games you mentioned especially on Andkon were games I played as a 10 year old 😭
i thought i had already remembered all the games i used to play but this reminded me of sushi cat (excellent game) and the pet grooming game from orisinal. thanks!
LMAO I just commented on a different one of your vids about missing Fairy Tale High on Doll Divine, and it's available on Flashpoint! You rock!
WHAT DO YOU MEAN THEY HAVE THE ENTIRETY OF HORSELAND. I MISS THAT GAME SO MUCH
I wonder if there's any Bella Sara stuff archived...
13:53 ?! wait!! I've been looking for this ethereal site for years!!! I remember playing a Ladybug game in it as a child and it having such a unique memorable style. omg... Orisinal. I'll keep this in mind.
Oh my goodness, I loved orisinal soooo much back in the day, I'm so glad I can revisit those games.
I'm still making Flash games. They can be exported in exe format and I also have my own flash wrapper that I give for free and it doesnt require installation.
Couldn't have timed this better, Li, I just started reminiscing about Teen Titans Battle Blitz and Kim Possible...everything, last night to my partner!
I am dying at the intro with the falling body game in the background 😂
Newgrounds uses Ruffle now, too! I was really excited when I found that out.
Li Speaks just becoming the queen of nostalgia with giving us these resources to find these flash games. Thank you. ^^
