There’s no Apple Store where I live, not even in the country, when I got my 13 Pro Max directly in a retailer they make sure to open the phone in front of you and test all the device cameras, calls and cosmetics, then there is 30 days software related defects guarantee so you can return it. Seems the best way to go about it if you buy outside the Apple Store.

Hey Doni. Hope you're well :)
That's pretty cool that they check all that beforehand so you know that everything is working correctly.
There's a lot of Apple stores in the UK, most of which are in the larger cities. Must admit it is good to go in and test them before deciding which one to go for.

Alright, Kevin. As you said, you would have bought from Apple but it was out of stock. I had the same issue with one of the laptops, couldn’t get it from Apple so bought it on the high street. I would always recommended that anyone should buy direct from Apple but sometimes you simply can’t, so you either wait months on a back order or you just have to buy else where. Waiting one, two or even three months just isn’t a serious option for most people. It’s not like you or anyone else has made a mistake not buying from Apple, it’s just a less than ideal purchasing route because the options weren’t there. However, there is one plus point, you did get one. I’m quite sure that buying now from anyone other than Apple is still going to be limited, maybe even not an option. In fact, I’ve just checked at Box and a few of the usual suspects and the Pro Max is totally sold out and so is the Pro by the looks of it. So yes, would it be better to have one than not have one and I’d say that the answer to that one is perfectly clear. Great video and great question 👍 Cheers, Dave.

      Hi Dave.
Yes I was quite fortunate getting one at launch. The store in Edinburgh had a lot of stock in, so I suspect the initial hysteria has faded.
I'm tempted to get a full refund from Box so I can order directly from Apple, though if they offer to send a replacement immediately, I'd consider it.
It got me thinking, if I do get a refund and buy new, should I get the pro instead of the pro max? I'd be tempted to switch for the more portable model, but you only save £100 by doing so as the entry model is only 128GB.
I've got a 512GB model, which is probably too much as I'm backing all photos up to Google Photos.
      Decisions, decisions. 😃

@@KevinMuldoon Alright, Kevin. I also got the 512GB one and I’ve already had to delete or backup stuff from it a bunch of times as I’ve been filling it up. Although, I have been using ProRes files, which are stupid big. I personally wouldn’t go to 256, it may be just slightly limiting, even without the ProRes files. However, if the main camera is effectively the same, minus the zoom, I’d have no issues with the Pro. I personally don’t shoot telephoto, so the zoom on the Pro Max is something I could live without. Battery life on the Pro would also be a none issue for my use. Plus, I do much prefer the size of the Pro. As there isn’t too much in it as far as price difference is concerned. I’d say that the physical size is the only real difference, with the Pro being more convenient and it also has a big enough screen anyway. One thing is for sure, they are both powerful phones. Cheers, Dave.

@@DavidHarry Hi Dave. I'm still changing my mind about the storage. I was going to just get the 512GB again, but I'm not sure I need it when I'm uploading everything to Google Drive. Though there may be situations where 256GB could be limiting.
I'm on the fence about pro vs pro max too. I've had larger phones over the last few years and in many scenarios, the pro max is great to use. There are times, however, where I feel I'm doing hand gymnastics because iOS places so many nav options at the top of the display. I wouldn't miss the 5X zoom, but I do like good battery life so that's something I need to consider.

@@KevinMuldoon Oh, stop it Kevin 😆 Just stay with the same phone after the replacement/refund. You’re just like me, you question it too much 😂 Yes, the Pro will be awesome but you’ve already been using the best one (probably). Guaranteed, you’ll get the Pro and then start missing something something on the Pro Max 😆 Plus, you’re a tech guy, so when has there ever been a thing such as too much storage 😆 I’m now actually regretting that I didn’t get the 1TB version 😂 I just love seeing someone else torturing themselves using the same thought process I do. It’s very reassuring to see that there’s at least one other person who gets just as bent out of shape with these things as I do 😆 Anyway, it doesn’t matter what you decide to do, Kevin, you’ll only end up questioning that decision as well 😆 I know I would. Good luck 👍 Cheers, Dave.

@DavidHarry haha I know. I reopened the wound. I debated this a lot when they were announced and visiting the store and returning the phone has made me wonder whether I picked the right one.
The phone is being collected tomorrow so I'm going to play around with it tonight and make a decision. There were pro maxes available at my local store, but they've since disappeared. 512GBs do seem to pop up more often so may be the one I'll end up getting.
I don't think the size is the main issue as I don't mind the size in my pockets etc. I guess I'm still getting used to iOS again 😁
