I’ve moved from the 12 to the 14. Personally I think it fits my turning style better than the 12 does. I liked it on the stock settings however did change them slightly. Lubed it with angstrom gravitas and dignitas. I haven’t broken any pb singles on this yet however I have beaten my pb Ao5 twice on this (pb now is 10.67 Ao5 and I normally average high 12 or 13 seconds). I’ve owned a tornado v3 pioneer and a weilong v9 ball core and I can’t get on with them despite trying almost every setting possible and many lube setups. They do not fit my turning at all. So it’s good if it fits your turning style imo
Honestly, the Weilong v9 is the best cube. I also got a new pb ao5 of 11.57, about 30 sub 10's and a 8.68 single using this cube.

I would buy it if it weren’t for the tension system. I don’t wanna have to try and get all the screws the same. Too much work and the tornado V3 doesn't need to have that done

I used a gan12 for the last year, but I spent most of that time trying different settings, eventually I went and tried the WRM v9 Ballcore UV, which became my instant main (with the only adjustment of tightness slacker by 1/2 a turn for more corner cutting), I feel GAN have tried to be too clever by shaving weight (making it really weak), and the design makes gan very unstable unless you are a super precise cuber, Moyu simply are the best designers for stability across all cubing levels and keeping the basics makes them a winner.
"It needs setup" is basically the cubing version of "I am not mad just disappointed"

I agree as the 14 is my main.
It might be a weird suggestion but I think Gan should release a spring version of the 14 (similar to the Weilong v9). Maglev just isn’t for everyone.
For the setup issue, I think once you have a certain amount of strength, overturning is an inevitable problem. I used to main the TV3 pioneer, but made the recent switch back to the 356 M (kinda old but I like it). Just love the classic low pitch Gan feeling.
Yea springs in the gan 14 would make it more controllable. I’m not the biggest fan of maglev.

Out of every speed cube i have ever had including weilong v9 wrm ballcore uv coated maglev, or the gan 13 maglev, or the super rs3m ballcore, the gan 14 uv coated maglev has been the best cube out of the box and after breaking in I have ever had I do not know what youre all talking about, no pops yet, no corner twists yet, smooth turning, fast, light, i think its one of the best honestly, better than the weilong v9 (by far) lol

GAN company had a huge improvement from GAN 11 to GAN 12 , but from 12 to 13 , It didn’t satisfy me at all. The GAN 12 by far is much better than my GAN 13.
The reviews I have seen in UA-cam all agreed that GAN 14 is a downgrade from GAN 13
I hope GAN 15 will be a good successor of GAN 13 & 14.

I have never disagreed with an opinion more lol.
I personally love the gan 14 out of the box. I also have a TV3, literally set up and out of the box was worse than ootb gan 14. Also, the pop problem is prevalent, but just set it to compression 2 or 1. It feels so smooth and snappy, which I like. What I hate about TV3 is the turning does not feel premium. Also, the fact that you said it is uncontrollable is not prevalent at all for me. For me, TV3 overturned so much and was more uncontrollable. In fact, my settings are literally 1 for tension and 3 for compression. Setup is DNM-37 and Angstrom Dignitas. I am being completely honest here, I would want it looser, it is still too slow for me (my fingers get tired), but any compression over 3 has a high risk of popping. Also, with your saying that magnets are practically needed, I also have both magnet strengths at 1. I also have a gan 12, gan 13, and v9, I love the gan 12 smooth feeling but I like the 14 much more. More snappy and balanced. For some reason V9 does not feel that premium to me. Pretty nice but still 14 is better imo
Anyways this is not meant to be a hateful comment. I just want to comment on how I disagree with this video. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions but I think the gan 14 is one of the best cubes, now even with the gan 14 pro.
Settings that I use for gan 14 (again so you can see easier)
Tension: 1
Compression: 3
Corner magnet: 1
Edge magnet: 1
(I have magnet settings at low because I honestly don’t really like magnets, just adds a more unpremium feel if it is too high. Also magnets click a lot)
Lubes: Dignitas, dnm-37.
Cubes I like in order:
1. Gan 14
2. Gan 13 and 12 are tied. I like 13 softer feeling and 12 snappier
3. Wrm V9
4. TV3
Average: 9 seconds
Imo, people who think gan 13 and 14 are downgrades are mostly people who are just swayed because it is more expensive
I find the gan 14 such a frustrating cube because I really did want to like it, but I just couldn't. However, with some more time with the cube, I can see why some people may like it. Personally, it's not for me lol, but I'm happy to see that you really enjoy this cube. Maybe I would like the gan 14 pro a bit more, idk.

@@CubingWithAlex I dont think you’ll like my settings if you’re complaining that it overturns at the default settings, tbh. Also, yeah, its all preference based. I think the gan 14 is a great cube for someone who can control fast speeds, but not so much for people who cant
@@CubingWithAlex Also, I tried it at settings 4 for tension and 1 for compression and i loved it too. It was slower which i didnt like but it felt really smooth
I used the WRM V9 for a while since it tolerated my rough inaccurate turning, but recently switched to the 12 to fix that issue and after doing that, the 14 is honestly great and I'd consider it easily a step up from the 12, however small that difference is; it's just more enjoyable to use.
I don't wanna chalk it up to "skill issue" since you don't need turning quite that accurate for any other brand of cube (like a WRM V9, which is still my safety pick), but the people that have liked the 12 since before the 11 hype died down are probably gonna really like this cube. To me, it's like they took the nice feel of the 13 but also remembered that performance was a factor.

I really wanted to like it but I just couldn’t get it to work for me. I do think there is an argument to be had that the 14 is better than the 13, but personally I would choose the 13 over it. I would also pick the 12 over those 2.

Oh no! I super-glue all mine in place because some were loose and noisy out of the box.
I love mine, however it needed a ton of setup and some lube to be good

@@CubingWithAlex outer number 4, inner number 1, edge mag 3 and corner mag 5, then I took out yellow layer and put a nice line of cubicle weight 1 lube around the top of the cube, but it together, dropped about 5 drops of dnm37,
Like I said lots of setup but to me this is perfect, it feels super premium. Haven’t had any problems with popping or catching, as it is a more tighter setup. I’m not sure if I’d say it’s the absolute best but without a doubt better than 13, i have 12-14.

the gan 13 was hot garbage, but im honestly quite happy with my 14. the corner cutting is better, so is the stability. the wrm is still by far the most performant cube out there, but i do wish to have the feature set of a GAN 14, but also the performance of a moyu cube - kinda like a tornado v3.
