yes, as someone who was on the receiving end of the lets open the relationship demand (cause its never really a question), it really does a number on your self-esteem. Took years to recover and even today i don't think it has fully recovered.
You really shouldn't base your self esteem on the quality of your relationships. Even if you find someone amazing, if you have low self esteem, you're always going to be questioning yourself if you're good enough, always going to be paranoid, and always have your insecurities surface. Build your self-esteem first, love yourself first, then you can be ready for any kind of relationship. So when a relationship goes in a direction you're not comfortable with, you can easily break it off, wish them well, and ask for them to keep an eye out if they find someone that would be more compatible with you while you continue your search.

I know and have known people in open relationships. The biggest difference betweem those that work and that don't work is that when a relationship didn't start out open it never worked out. Edit to add: Also when the relationship is only open because one side wants it, that never worked.

So I'm a man in my 30s and the open relationship shit blows my mind. I haven't been in a committed relationship since 2014 because I learned, and get this, that I like having multiple partners. I don't lead anyone on, I just have flings. Sometimes they become good friends for years to come, as well, even if we don't have sex after a while. I think there's just a disconnect, largely due to dating apps and social media, and a lot of younger adults can't put a separation between going steady and having fun.
Part of a relationship is having a monopoly on your partners affection. That's what makes the relationship so unique. The moment someone else is getting the same affection you receive from your partner, it's no longer special, you're no longer unique and that fundamentally changes the nature of the relationship. This is true not just for you, but your partner as well, who might find a closed monopoly more comforting than the "Open" relationship they suggested.
Here is what happens. The wife opens the relationship. The husband gets a women they like, the wife gets jealous and tried to close it. Man leaves with the new gf as the wife cries, having like 5 dudes who was all boning her for fun, but run away when she actually wants to date them as a fallback plan.
Hopefully he sees this article and leaves her - she obviously just gets off on humiliating him publicly. No man deserves to be treated this way, no matter how simpering and pethetic.
As a man, I'm not against the idea of non-monogamous relationships at all; I see it the same way as friendships. You can have a best friend, but still have *other* friends you hang out with whenever you can't or don't wanna hang out with your best friend for whatever reason; that proves that commitment & exclusivity are two completely *different* things, & you can have the former without the latter. *However* , to work, a consensual non-monogamous relationship has to go *both* ways; it has to be perfectly okay for *both* partners to have sex with others. It *can't* be okay for one but not the other.
At some point, we gotta come an understanding that polyamory, non monogamy, open relationships, etc, etc. Aren't actually relationship formats, but are actually just power plays.
People will rail you on social media but refuse to look at reality, same people that invented all of this. Her saying that their relationship works in the title makes it sound like they're so enlightened or whatever but it's obviously a mess and the guy is quite literally being tortured. The only reason she thinks it's okay is because he keeps it to himself and she cares more about her sex addiction than how he feels.
Contempt for cucks
Just know when someone tells you to open the relationship that most certainly means they're already seeing someone else, they just letting you know in a way that suggests, "maybe you should too or I'll be the bad person here" 😊
or they already have someone in mind and will resent you if you don't acquiesce.
The boyfriend would be "controlling" if he outright refuses this arrangement, and this would be a breakup article smearing the guy's reputation.
Open relationships are insane ngl.
Invented by aristocrats trying to avoid the division of their properties. Adopted by hedonists trying to dodge responsibility.
They're... tricky, to put it lightly. I've seen it work for one person I know only because they are very open about proper communication and boundaries between them and their partner, but I've also seen it blow up in the face of countless more because they just want to use it as an excuse to sleep around. It's *definitely* not for most people though
It's definitely not for everyone. As a member of that 'club' it absolutely MUST be a two way street. You can't have a scenario where she runs the gauntlet and your not, that's just cheating cuckold horse pucks
@@seath8055yea that’s insane part if you had to jump out of a plane but one had to pick between two parachute one has a 50% chance of not working and the other had a 92% to 80% chance of not working imma go with the 50%
Most that work only work that are 1 girl many guys only work until the girl gets pregnant then the other guys will leave and she might have no one but who is the DNA father of the baby in her. Open relationships with 1 guy with many girls the girls might leave when 1 or 2 of them get pregnant and all that have his baby will demand child support and/or marriage.
The reason why? Having a kid is a very turn off to most people and finding someone who is both for open relationships and for a person with a kid is very rare to non-existent.
bro is desperate not to be single again, so he compromised with an open relationship.
It's like an upgrade, but instead of up, it's down.

Can say from experience, if your fiancee gets a boyfriend as you are planning your wedding, you should probably call off the wedding
Oof, my condolences friend
Yeah... You probably should.
i mean... if she didn't say anything that's just straight up cheating, not that it's scummy to ask before a wedding, or anytime honestly
yes, as someone who was on the receiving end of the lets open the relationship demand (cause its never really a question), it really does a number on your self-esteem. Took years to recover and even today i don't think it has fully recovered.
As someone who went through the same thing, I'm wishing you a complete 100% recovery.
@@marcuscorvin9998 absolutely agree.

i was too naive back then and was too romantic movie brain rotted. believing love being able to overcome anything.
It's what led me to say yes, not wanting to lose them, and spent the most horrid 6 months of my life as i was sidelined completely. i stayed twiddling my thumbs while they spend their entire time, for literally months, on someone else.
of course i changed since them. nowadays i wouldnt take that shit from anyone.
I suffer from trust issues, why?
I can't open myself to others and this video doesn't bode well. Poor guy is doomed
I'd rather die alone than be in an open relationship
Incredible mental gymnastics from whoever wrote that article
The moment the thought of seeing other people even leaves my partner's lips, she's single. No ifs, ands or buts. If they EVER consider the idea of being someone else during our relationship, it's done. Clearly I'm not enough, which means the relationship has failed, so goodbye.
I'd never suggest my husband to see other people,
,only other women,
and women aren't people.
That's pretty much the death knell of the relationship. They're pretty much just saying the quiet part out loud and want out.
When a woman asks to have an open relationship it's almost entirely because she's ALREADY cheating and wants to be absolved and do it guilt free while she searches for a "better" partner.
Open relationships should be mocked.
They gotta be open both side from the start for it to work and for most guys even if its open it doesnt mean they will get people

Lady sounded so insecure when she asked, "So does that mean I can't have sex with other people?"
Having an open relationship is like owning a car with no engine; sure, you can say you have one, but it doesn't actually serve its intended purpose.
Can't you make the same analogy for any form of sexual relationship that isn't making babies? This feels like a strange stopping point in the logic. I don't agree with open relationships, either, and I don't know when I'll ever be ready to have a family, but this analogy will form a slippery slope.
@@michaelscalia7080 sexual relationships that are not within marriage and open to conception are immoral anyways
I'd say its more like having a car missing all the seats and safety features, but has an engine. Technically works, but defeats the entire purpose.

I thought this part of the population hates all the harem anime coming out of Japan?
Because the harem protags are average looking guys with a tendency towards cute instead of handsome.
Generally speaking you want to be the center of the harem not the one of the crew. It’s an inherently unequal relationship and the people without principles only get upset when they are on bottom. I understand his perceived need to stay ignorant, since it is indeed a fact that: "Ignorance is bliss."
Will Smith is probably going to slap this comment too
I don't. Dude claims to be monogamous but he's clearly not. Maybe he's not the one sleeping around but he isn't drawing the line and he's letting her sleep around. He knows what she's doing even if he's pretending not to and he allows it.

The only reason Im hyper aware like this is because my mom straight up telling me as a child "yk those kids are making fun of you, right? you look strange when you "fantasize"(=term we made for that imaginary playing thing autistic kids do with their hands while talking/playing by themselves) so I actually DO know what the bliss of ignorance feels like first hand.

They met at Burning Man, what do you expect
Every time I see someone in an open relationship, I just shake my head like a disappointed father and say: “They never learn, do they?”
I've never seen True Loyalty in any open relationship
Maybe being single isn’t a curse after all …
Sounds like an emotionally abusive girlfriend to me :/
Cheating without the guilt because “he said I could! So it’s okay.” As if there wasn’t coercion and manipulation involved.
