On top of that, finding one that's in a decent grade (quality) is also incredibly unlikely. THEN On top of that, getting retail pricing for these items is also incredibly unlikely. Sold listings on Ebay are a good way to gauge how much an item generally can be, but it's not an end all be all, particularly because bills can be worth significantly less based on the quality. Rips, tears and stains can reduce the price by alot, especially if you're getting bills that are circulated alot, like tips for example. Also it costs money to send in coins/currency to be graded through the big grading companies like PGCS/NGC, so you're losing cost just by sending it in to be graded. So you have to make sure if you do have a bill, that it's not in a shitty condition or else you could be losing money. Just some caution for anyone unaware of how things like this work in this field : )

The only way to send any coin/bill in to be "certified" is to send it to one of the major grading companies to essentially have someone there determine the quality of whatever it is you send in, then they send it back to you at whatever grade they deem. To certify/grade/authenticate a coin/bill just straight up means to have someone who's authorized at NGC/PCGS to grade, tell you what quality it is and it's more or less a guarantee of that quality. There can be cases where they regrade it at a better or worse grade though. Sorry if I come off demeaning, it's just hard to express what is what because it's a super niche field.

Keep at it. I did this, too. Didn't leave them on my floor, though, just set them in a safe. At the end of the year, I ended up having almost 800$. Definitely worth doing if you don't like using ones at the store
@E-Wad I typically get the same items every day before work. It's just habit. I prefer to use cash to help prevent myself from overspending. And my purchase will average around 14 to 20 buck so I just give them a 20 most days. Seem like a lot of pointless work for two people to have to count a bunch of one's when I know I have a bigger bill on hand.
I am actually a printing press operator, now I don't know exactly about how money is printed, but I can say the contamination can easily come from the wrong ink being placed in the ink fountain. I have actually had this happen due to the ink manufacturer mislabeling the ink tubes.
Alright, here's the plan; you intentionally mess up the ink sometime and give me the downlow on when those particular bills are going to be circulated... then I'll hoard them like nobody's business for the next 10-15 years and when the few still in circulation are found and valued tremendously, I will offload all of the bills and we will split the profits 50/50.
