Been watching your channel for a few years and am impressed with your operation. Just wanted to say were watching here next door in Nova Scotia, best with all your endeavours in the furure.
Hi guys, I love the new tractor so far. It is working out really well and just gets better every day that I operate it. Congrats on your channel growth. Pretty impressive! - Jason
I’ve had my Grand L4060 since 2019 and I couldn’t be happier. It does everything I’ve asked of it with absolutely zero issue. Small enough to transport with attachments on a 5 ton float but heavy and powerful enough to do most anything you’d want for a homestead, small farm, or light commercial tractor. I was initially concerned about having a cabbed tractor in the bush. As long as you’re aware of your surroundings, it’s no issue, and with the AC in the summer and heat in the winter, I’d never go back to open station.
Great feedback. I was looking at the 3560 but I thought it would be a bit too small. I'm glad I decided to go with the 4060. Need to prove the loader has the lift capacity that I need but so far, I'm really impressed. The cab is not an inconvenience at all when working with the winch and the heat is amazing!
i Have the exact same tractor and a farmi winch as well up in central Wisconsin. I use tractor chains as I am in hilly country. The only other item I would recommend is a better grill guard as the Kubota is just plastic and there are expensive items behind it if a piece of brush punctures through it. I believe the company is 511 Design. Love the 4060.. Good luck
Thanks for the feedback. I’m having great luck with the 4060 and recently put the log trailer on behind it. Love bringing a load back to the yard in a cool cab!
@@OakMountainAcotts yes. I like to see it come back naturally if it can. I like a good mixture of softwood and hardwood coming back.Like what was on it before when it was cut. Especially for that piece of ground. It is poorly drained. Thanks so much.
5 years and oh about 700 hrs on my 4060. Great tractor, love it. All ya need now is a grapple for the front. Mines on 90% of time. Next level handy and back saver.
Not one with a loader like yours. That’s what brought me to your channel. Would LOVE that setup! kinda jealous, lol! Got everything else tho, including winch and backhoe. So I don’t work too hard. I’m all about workin smarter not harder eh. Lol
I hear you… I’m thinking about selling the T1750 trailer to move into the larger T5000 to put behind this L4060. Should be able to bring a full cord out at a time if I pull the trigger….
Looks like u recovered tractor looks good I have similar setup as well Mx 5200 with wallenstein 6500 # it’s a beast in the woods for what it is great for firewood Oh yea the bluetti works awesome as well thanks again
Hi Harlow. Glad to hear that you received your Bluetti. That worked out pretty well! Loving the tractor so far... not sure why I waited so long. I've been studying up on the Wallenstein winches with a remote control. I think that would improve efficiency for us again!
Hi Jason: Glad to see you recovering and getting after it. I have a similar size Bobcat tractor with a cab, it’s 58 hp. You’re not crazy at all. In a cold climate it makes sense. It’s the right tool for the job. You have to use a little care, but I’ve never damaged mine in the forest.
Great feedback Richard. I was a little worried about ease of getting in and out of the cab while working but it is fine. Maybe a little easier than jumping over the shifter of the 414!
I'm glad that you're feeling well enough to be back in the woods. I have the brother to you're b26. Mine is the b3350, and yeah, I would love to move up in size. Congrats on your new tractor. It's a beauty and should make your life easier.
Love that new Kubota you picked up....congrats! & no, I don't think your nuts for taking it in the bush....its a machine....work it. I have been in the same boat assessing equipment needs/wants and have been thinking about the same tractor you got or the MX5400 to pair up with the Wallenstein FX85 skidding winch. I'm impressed with how your big winch seemed to work for you, but I'm curious if you notice a big difference in pulling power whether it is impacted by size/weight of tractor and pto horse power. You could also likely get away with selling the smaller kubota now and use that one with the kranman trailer no? I currently have a B2650 and figure I'll sell when I get the bigger new tractor....but might keep it. Tuff choices when so much $$$ is tied up in equipment
I looked at the MX5400 along side this 4060. Frame size was nearly the same but of course the 5400 has a larger engine. The Grand L series comes stock with so many features that it made the decision for me. I'm not sure what the rated pulling capacity is on the old Farmi winch. I normally ran it on idle with the 414 and it would pull anything on our property. That is the way I am running it on the 4060, maybe at 1000 rpm and it is working exactly the same. I think the frame size and HP on the 414 and this 4060 are pretty close so no really difference that I can see at this time except I have 4WD to get into the woods in the Winter time! The FX85 looks impressive. If I was to upgrade I would spring for the remote controlled unit. Very useful if you work alone like I do. Saves a lot of steps... My 2601 and T1750 is a capable setup. I am thinking about selling it though to purchase a larger T5000 trailer that would go behind the 4060... kind of redundant to have a whole other set of equipment to haul the wood to the yard! Thanks for watching, Jason.
How nice it must be to ride in a nice warm cab. This machine should help you gain efficiency in the process. When I got my Kioti CK4010,Ifound that I needed chains as soon as snow was on the ground. I got a set of Trygg studed chains and have no regrets. Looking forward to see how you do in the long run. The one advice I would give you is to fabricate a grill guard ASAP. I did that for mine before even taking it in the bush. I hope to some day add a belly pan on mine to prevent stray branches from poking in the tender areas underneath the tractor. I think you guys made a good decision trading the side by side. Enjoy!
Not really sure what it is :) A few of the guys on here told me it was a Farmi! Very reliable old winch, whatever it is! I built the saw holders out of 2x6 with 1x1 dividers to allow the bar to slip in. Thanks for watching!
As much as you will likely miss the X1100C for getting around and hauling equipment, you made the correct decision by going with the equipment that is best for moving whole logs in winter. You should have no second thoughts!
You have a bunch of snow up there. That new orange tractor shows up nice in the white snow. Ease yourself back into working, slowly. I bet u will miss the side by side for filming but I do like that tractor
Yeah, it really doesn’t take much to get tired out! Once we have enough snow, I think Karen will use the snow machine and warm up in the tractor cab as needed!
A tractor is a tool that is meant to be used, regardless if has 1 hour or 10000 hours on the clock. With the new Kubota, you'll be able to log all winter with relative ease and comfort.
Time will tell… the winch and rock bucket add some weight so we might get by without them. Not sure I want to run forestry chains on the roads when I’m blowing snow!
We sure do. Skidders are very capable, purpose built machines. The tractors will get it done in the woods and do many other jobs for us on our property. Thanks for watching!
@@OakMountainAcotts yes, looks like you have some nice terrain there, I live in Ontario near Algonquin park. Mostly hills. And we get a lot of snow at times . ( not near as much as in the past) we all use skidders. Not often we get flat skids. I noticed that your trees are quit small. Was your land clear cut at one time? That’s a very nice tractor you got. Will be nice for snow removal with that nice warm cab. Great video, thanks
Hi, we purchased this property in 1996 and it was cut at that time by a contractor as part of the transaction. They did a lot of high grading and clear cutting... we ended up with the property. So we have been working on restoring the forest since then. Building our road system, hunting fields and are just now at the point where we can take out some inferior trees to help the dominant trees. Our goal was to set this up to supplement our retirement. We are about 10 years out from that now so trying to get some good equipment in the line up that I can continue to work for a few years. - Jason
That’s what tractors are for. Doing work with them. That sounds like it’s going to work great for you. I’m wondering thou, where you have the chainsaws mounted, if you catch a branch, it could be bad for the chainsaw. Just a thought. Have a great week. 🪵🪓🔥👍🏻👋🇨🇦🎄🚜🚜🚜

Good thing you have the bucket in front to push the limbs! It's indeed very quiet machine! Good to see you back on the saddle! Thanks!
I love it… so versatile with the quick attach on the loader… should have bought one 10 years sooner!
Hello Jason, congratulations on the new tractor 👏 Great combination getting the logs out🪵👍🏼🇺🇸

I’ve had my L4060 since 2014 it now has 1215 trouble free hours. The Land Pride grapple 1072 is the greatest attachment made , my opinion.
I am approaching 200 hours on my 4060… very reliable and a joy to operate. I wish I would have bought my first new tractor 20 years sooner….
Glad to see you back in the woods, Jason! With the new tractor, I think you have the winning system for winter logging!
