You know I just realized something about season 2. We watched the protagonists become the bad guys. We saw everything from the Gundam bad guy point of view. We dont get to know the winner's (Galljhorn) backstory and character development. Because they ,while being the antagonists from our viewpoint, are narratively the heroes of the season. Tekkadan wanted to become kings of Mars. They wanted to impose their will on the people of Mars through force for their benefit. Flip the planets and change mobile suits then it would look like Zeon trying to bring down the federation and control earth. The way the bad guys would have some bullshit plot moment or action which would completely ruin Tekkadan's plan. Think about it we are on the receiving end of what we usually see the protags do to the antags of most other series. It's a bitter taste in my mouth now that I think about it.
I kind of see it as Good and Evil are almost irreverent in season 2. They are all fighting for themselves. In a sense Orga got what he wanted in the end. People in Tekkadan living on. Mika even remained on Juliettas memory too. That end fight with Mika for Julietta sparked something in her. At least thats how I see it at least.
Gjallarhorn won the war but they're undoubtedly the villains. Gjallarhorn and the Earth Economic Blocs economically exploited Mars for a long time (centuries?) and rule Mars at the time of the show. Their domination of the solar system is a big reason why so many children, like a bunch of the Tekkadan kids, are enslaved ("human debris") and why people on Mars are so poor and bad off that children, like Mika and Orga, sold themselves into labor contracts. Rustal Elion doesn't appear in season 1 but the fleet he commands is the same one that set up the Dort colony workers to die because they wanted higher wages. Nothing is heroic about Gjallarhorn. And I seem to recall Orga mentioning that he drew partial inspiration for the "Kings of Mars" thing from Kudelia and her political work which means he pursued Martian independence to benefit the people of Mars.
At the very beginning Mika said it himself, He will push forward endlessly without stop while Orga steers for them and they will only stop when they "reach their destination"... It went from Tekkadan only wanted a safe home to take care of each other and live their life. Then they got control of their own group and finally got that. Then they wanted the rights to be respected as people. Then they wanted to secure their future of other kids and people like them. Then they wanted Freedom (Mars Freedom) and Independence to rule themselves and not be used or tools again. Honestly theres nothing wrong with the escalation, its what everyone would want in their situation. Gjallarhorn Wanted to establish stability, peace, and stop the extinction of mankind across the Solar System. No matter the cost or means needed. Mars being able to get everything they wanted at the end would of setup a domino effect across the System of other places doing the same, but other organizations wouldnt have the same ideals as Tekkadan. Tekkadan sadly set themselves on a Suicide run when none of the characters had a true goal or objective. They are borken kids with a twisted logic of their upbringing. This story is an Epic and like all Epics they are built upon Tragedy and Sorrow.
I've never watched Gundam IBO or any Gundam anime for that matter but, 0:00 - 1:44 is the greatest buildup i have ever seen in an anime ost and that payoff at 1:45 - 3:08 is spectacular. This is amazing. Like a hero pulling an ass pull against an overpowering villain and even though it makes no sense, you just have to love it. It really makes you feel like you can do anything if you just believe haha
If that's what you believe this is, then you better not watch the show lmao. You're going to love it, but don't expect asspulls or happy shit. This show follows some tropes surrounding the naming of the Mobile Suits that make PAINFUL amounts of sense when you notice the origin.
@@xdredbruny2 the show isn't about ""happy shit"" But it does have a ton of "positive "themes. It's just the way everything turns out at certain points that make this a" sad" show. Personal growth, willpower, what it means to be family, finding a place in the world, even if it ends up bad it doesn't mean the "the journey" And what to be learned from it didn't exist. Viewing things as happy or sad is a black and white way of viewing things that will only ruin ones view of the world depending on who it is. Just because a hero defeated the villain, doesn't mean it's happy. There's/was still suffering, loss, having to grow up, development, etc. Most fights aren't about the physical aspect, it's about the symbolism and meaning behind it all. Every blow is the equivalent of a response in a verbal argument about a very philosophical point. "Asspull" This "plot armor" That, and even when the foreshadowing or happenings are explained people still claim these things, and even then judging a whole industry from the 5 shows they've seen just because it has a lot of episodes. If you're watching anime for the action then you're better off sticking to the western world and its media. "I'm the Boss of Tekkadan. Orga Itsuka. This is nothing to me. Protecting my members is my job. Shut up and let's go... Everyone's waiting. Besides... I finally understand now, Mika. As long as you all don't stop, I'll be at the end waiting for you. So hear me well. Don't you ever stop." -Orga Itsuka, episode 48, "Promise" I know Orga can kinda be forgotten because the spotlight always tend to fall on Mika, but man did he have an awesome last speech! Brothers till the end... no, brothers long after the end. Just like that iron flower that never wilts.
You not a real fan of IBO if you only think of Mika and forget Orga. Those two are like two halves that make a whole. Mika is the spine, and Orga is the brain.
I'd go ever further and say Mika is the body, and Orga is the soul. Mika absolutely listens and obeys Orga to the letter to the very end. Grabbing him by the collar "Look, tell me what to do, anything I'll do it" (paraphrasing loosely) Everyone looks up to Orga on the other hand for the soul, the spirit. Everybody trusts him to lead even though he doesnt trust himself. His comrades demand him be the soul and lead and Mika with Barbatos is the embodiment, the BODY of that soul if you will.
I had a feeling from the beginning... With the path Tekkadan were heading, it was only a matter of time before they were burned up by their own ambitions. I knew it would happen, but... The greatest glories before their fall. Their final stand before the end. *I wanted to see it.*
Everything is coming back to me. I watched this show such a long time ago, but all the emotions are so ingrained at this point that it doesn't matter. Easily in my top 5 favorite shows ever.

Sauce: Gundam iron blooded orphans My opinion on the series and how well it helps the gundam franchise: gundam ibo is one of my favorite mecha and gundam anime in the whole franchise, the way they explain how the calamity war and the mobile suits are very good, the designs are awesome and brutal as hell like the barbatos lupus Rex and the hashmal, when it comes to character development it’s pretty good, could have been better with some characters but with mika, orga, and a few others it’s very good, Mika learning how important and protecting the future for his friends and orga learning that he doesn’t have to rely on his elders and can become an awesome leader. What it does to the gundam franchise is a bit strange it doesn’t take place during a timeline of some of the gundams but it’s like a new timeline and story, that’s why there’s barely any mobile suits such as barbatos and why other gundams are mention like the wing or the rx-78. What it contributes is good because without the awesome designs in this series we wouldn’t have seen such development in the gundam franchise. The story is amazing and brutal and actually shows the brutality of war and what would happen if there where mobile suits and people living on Mars and earth being in a sort of a crisis Honestly check it out it’s a very awesome anime but I suggest watching other gundam anime to understand more of the mobile suits and their origin sorta. 8/10 anime and there’s 2 seasons heck yea

@syao the most saddest part is mcgillis life... :'|
His butt must have suffered allot.
Cuz their freaking lost children
I've never watched Gundam IBO or any Gundam anime for that matter but,
0:00 - 1:44 is the greatest buildup i have ever seen in an anime ost and that payoff at 1:45 - 3:08 is spectacular.
Anime was always about the symbolism and morality, themes, ideals, philosophy, etc the meaning behind everything while still incorporating the story telling aspect what with world building, character development, politics and whatnot.
@@thecreep5123 You went full weeb. Don't ever go full weeb.
Japan is notorious for doing shit "just because it's cool" while Western media ALWAYS has been a bunch of snobs. You're getting things confused and mixed around.
Look at the most popular Anime: SAO, Fairy Tail, Moe stuff.
Japan likes cute, badass and simple things. Even on most complex and deep shows, the Japanese like the simpler shit. This is why the Eva Rebuilds sold MUCH BETTER than anything the OG show did lmao.
Don't lecture me, I've been watching anime ever since I was 4, dude. My dad was one of the people that BROUGHT ANIME to my country in the late 80s.
@@xdredbruny2 full weeb? Lol yeah. I am a weeb. I love Japan. I love it's culture, the language, the geography, anime and manga. But I also still love my homeland, the USA, so by default I'm not a weeb. But you know what? I hate the work culture, the unwritten social rules, how everyone there just wears a mask to save face, the shitty pay, the xenophobia, ignorance (they don't even know their own history), politics, perverted as fuck people, molestation, etc. And I actually can read and write the language, and I can say I also hate how indirect it is. I'm not some blind ass nigga who speaks out of my ass and thinks its a utopia. Full weeb? Yeah I am a weeb. But I know way more than you do, and can be more level headed as a result. I like Japan. It shouldn't be a problem for you bro, but since it is you might have some mental issues, I recommend seeing a doctor bucko.
The rest of your comment I haven't read. I honestly don't a give a shit about what some worthless internet persona has to say to me
@@thecreep5123 Also, you took THAT out of ONE SENTENCE LMAO.
You liking Japan is not a problem, it's just hilarious that you "like it" yet you got it all backwards. That's why I said "went full weeb". It also wasn't an insult, but it's clear you got super offended so I apologize if it hurt your feelings or something, that wasn't the intention.
I thought it was possible to have a discussion here but some clearly bruised egos and lack of self-awareness is not gonna let that happen.
"I'm the Boss of Tekkadan. Orga Itsuka. This is nothing to me. Protecting my members is my job. Shut up and let's go... Everyone's waiting. Besides... I finally understand now, Mika. We don't need any destinations. We just need to keep moving forward. As long as we don't stop, the road will continue. I'm not stopping. As long as you all don't stop, I'll be at the end waiting for you. So hear me well. Don't you ever stop."
-Orga Itsuka, episode 48, "Promise"
I know Orga can kinda be forgotten because the spotlight always tend to fall on Mika, but man did he have an awesome last speech! Brothers till the end... no, brothers long after the end. Just like that iron flower that never wilts.
You not a real fan of IBO if you only think of Mika and forget Orga. Those two are like two halves that make a whole. Mika is the spine, and Orga is the brain.
@@ShintaTakama yup
"orga?"
@@gilang26060 That shit hit hard
I'd go ever further and say Mika is the body, and Orga is the soul. Mika absolutely listens and obeys Orga to the letter to the very end. Grabbing him by the collar "Look, tell me what to do, anything I'll do it" (paraphrasing loosely)
Everyone looks up to Orga on the other hand for the soul, the spirit. Everybody trusts him to lead even though he doesnt trust himself. His comrades demand him be the soul and lead and Mika with Barbatos is the embodiment, the BODY of that soul if you will.
After finishing the anime, this theme hits me right in the feels! R.I.P to those heroes who fight for a better future!
I had a feeling from the beginning...
With the path Tekkadan were heading, it was only a matter of time before they were burned up by their own ambitions.
I knew it would happen, but...
The greatest glories before their fall.
Their final stand before the end.
*I wanted to see it.*
I forgot who said this
A candle that burns brightest burns shortest.
But they left a trail in their wake.

A gundam series that is on point a modern/Scifi retelling of a Norse Hero Legend. From its Visceral Thone, to its Tragic end. "Warriors Dying on the Battlefield, Standing. Undefeated". Such is the telling of a Norse Folk Hero, such is the whole Tekkadan.

Sauce: Gundam iron blooded orphans
My opinion on the series and how well it helps the gundam franchise:
gundam ibo is one of my favorite mecha and gundam anime in the whole franchise, the way they explain how the calamity war and the mobile suits are very good, the designs are awesome and brutal as hell like the barbatos lupus Rex and the hashmal, when it comes to character development it’s pretty good, could have been better with some characters but with mika, orga, and a few others it’s very good, Mika learning how important and protecting the future for his friends and orga learning that he doesn’t have to rely on his elders and can become an awesome leader. What it does to the gundam franchise is a bit strange
it doesn’t take place during a timeline of some of the gundams but it’s like a new timeline and story, that’s why there’s barely any mobile suits such as barbatos and why other gundams are mention like the wing or the rx-78. What it contributes is good because without the awesome designs in this series we wouldn’t have seen such development in the gundam franchise. The story is amazing and brutal and actually shows the brutality of war and what would happen if there where mobile suits and people living on Mars and earth being in a sort of a crisis
Honestly check it out
it’s a very awesome anime but I suggest watching other gundam anime to understand more of the mobile suits and their origin sorta.
8/10 anime and there’s 2 seasons heck yea
Why is iron blooded orphans so underrated?? Like if iron blooded orphans is your favorite anime ♥
Maybe is because of all the characters it killed? But I gotta say I watched it like 3 times.
