I LOVE Ishiguro's Never Let Me Go. I have yet to find another Ishiguro book that feels the same for me though. I may try Klara and the Sun next. I love that nearly everyone reads Outsiders and The Giver. It's funny, bc I read The Giver way back in middle school originally, but when I went to read again as a teacher--it felt like scenes were missing. I realized that in my child head, I had essentially created mental fan fiction and added scenes that did not happen.
I enjoyed Never Let Me Go, but it did take me a little bit to get into it. Have you read Sea of Tranquility? I definitely read them in middle school too! And the first time I re-read I realized that I remembered things differently😂
I have not read Sea of Tranquility. Putting that one on the list too! I love how stories can kind of take on their own life in your head when you read them. 🥰 Can be disappointing when they are made into movies though. 😬

Klara and the Sun is very similar in atmosphere and quality, I wholeheartedly recommend it

I LOVED fable! Not necessarily the subplot of romance but the world and the pirate-ish theme was so fun imo. But I’m also an ocean girlie hehe
