Me too, and I agreed!! Her bridge was so powerful than Jane Zhang's version. It's such ashamed that she wasn't popular. I mean, she popular but not super popular.
Prefer this version over Chinese, to be honest. And yes, I know the original version is Chinese and sing by Jane Zhang but I still prefer this. Been listening to this everyday.

Jane had a terrific voice, she sang in an intermittent way ( slow, stop and sing ) Kuraki's version is that you can hear both and her accompanying music very much in a good combination. her singing is what i feel is better because the flow is continuous and it appeals to me If i am not mistaken, Kuraki's version had the Cello instrument, and that plays a part of my decision lies as to which version is better. Not to downplay that both Jane and Kai had terrific voices for sure but its that i like Mai Kuraki's version much more..... Dang !!

As far as we love Mai Kuraki's version of the song, we have to admit this song is Jane Zhang's song originally. It's a soundtrack of a Chinese film titled "Painted Skin". When the film was screened on Japan, they used Mai Kuraki's "Hakanasa" instead of Jane Zhang's "Painted Heart".
Am sure that there are many pro China warriors here , and if anything, I considered myself the most hawkish of all pro China warriors , But have to be very fair here. She can be your prey or your predator without any one knowing it . Jane is out of reach for anyone ," high in the clouds " an only a dream that you can ever have sight on her.. Maybe shes sitting down makes it more of my reasons stating it. Not to downplay that both Jane and Mai had terrific voices beyond most singers, for sure but its just that i like Mai Kuraki's version much more.....I seldom praise anything Japanese due to historical reasons and if there is anything of a cold war brewing between the 2 countries, now you can safely label me as the coldest of the cold war warrior being pro China, BUT for once this is an exception for Kuraki . 是的，沒想到。用日語唱也能好聽。之前中文版唱日語原唱，或者是日語版唱中文原版都沒有這個好。可能是Mai 跟 張靚穎 的 聲調都很相似。
中文的更顺滑一点，日语版的主体是平缓的音节，但是有的地方会因为音节多而加快了节奏，略微不自然。
