I always get so excited to replay Inquisition because it has so many great moments, but then I get to the Hinterlands shard collecting and I begin to dread what’s to come
It's just a complete shame that everyone has started on Dragon age origins or Dragon age 2 hates varric, and Inquisition. Inquisition got NV treatment and I was confused

I really hate the dialogue wheel, but in this trailer it looks especially horrible! It just feels like your character barely has any part in the dialogue and they are just giving you input to stop you from doom scrolling on instagram at the same time

He reminds me of Astarion in some way, only Dorian is a lot more pleasant and supportive, and does not use his past trauma as a justification for his shitty behaviour. And don't even get me started on a romance, which starts with and is completely build on lies and manipulation (or abuse in his "evil ending" or co-dependence and gaslighting in "good" ending) unlike Dorian, who always threats you with respect and kindness as a partner. And knows what he feels for you, and where you stand as a couple, which gives you more certainty that his feelings are genuine. Even if you don't romance him, once you build a relationship with Dorian he becomes extremely caring of your Inquisitor, especially in the Tresspasser. Now that I think about it, its a shame that Astarion became so popular, while Dorian didn't, because to me, Dorian is the "perfect" Astarion - who is as witty and interesting , but also more pleasant and nice, as a friend or lover. He never needed an MC therapist who needed to "fix" him all the time, becoming his life coach; He just needed a friend to support him, and Dorian was more than willing to do what is right on his own. Even as a traumatized, misunderstood loner.
The demons don’t look frightening or even demonic anymore, they just look like floaty lights. It barely feels like a dragon age game, it’s like a fanfic. The fact that we can’t even jump between our party is sad, like what even is this? Nothing about it looks feels or sounds nice. But why do the demons look like that?! They don’t look like fearsome forces of devastation that were feared by mage and Templar alike, they’re just screeching fodder.
the demons are like that because they aren't able to find enough emotions to manifest from, in it's one of the game articles and they tell you about it, so it's a high chance we're barely ever gonna see the pride demon and the small guys like that except for a few times

the whole time i was trying to figure out that something feels off visually. You were right about the colors. 05:10 looks like a cyberpunk city set in South Asia and 09:54 looks straight out of Bioshock
Have you played the games enough for them to mention Tevinter at all and have it stick in your mind..? It is a society run by the most powerful mages in the world, and is much more advanced. This is talked about in DA:I so many times. Dorian never shuts up about how awful Ferelden is because of it.
Tbh as someone who liked Inquisition a lot, i couldn’t care less about deviating from tactical combat. When playing Inquisition i noticed that i didn't used tactical combat a single time until i played the game in Nightmare difficulty lol. So for me at least, this new approach making the third person combat more dynamic and fun works well.

I too am curious as to what "other option" that Varric had in mind that he was convinced that he could talk Solas out of it 😂 Maybe if he had conversed more with the merchant's guild instead of ignoring their mail, he could've been a better sweet talker 😂
it's probably a nod to the "we will convince him and save him from himself" final dialogue choice in inquisition. and you can't blame varric for trying, even in a vacuum, because he makes a good point about how people are often just hoping for someone to talk them down, and in the heat of the moment, on that precipice, it can be very different to a philosophical/theoretical talk earlier.
Shout out to my fellow traumatized DA fans who are still in denial and keep coming back to shake our disbelief. I still don't want to believe this is what a favorite franchise has become.
@@krasmasov6852that's irrespective of the fact that this is not a natural evolution from Inquisition. Everything is different from basic enemy designs all the way to core gameplay mechanics. This isn't a sequel to inquisition, this doesn't fit the bill being sold by the trespasser dlc. Granted none of the entries have been true sequels to the previous one, but this one was supposed to be. And since it's not that, we will never ever get that. Mastering the Virulence upgrade with the necromancer from inquisition multiplayer is dragon age combat at it's best. The crowd control abilities are still some of the best in any RPG. That's why my expectations were so lofty, they had quite a bit just right with inquisition and it only needed refined.
@@krasmasov6852 solas was pitched as a dynamic antagonist with a certain eleven god mystique about him. You had the choice to maintain or disband the inquisition post trespasser, that seemed like the launch pad for the next title, not 10 years later.
It’s a giant city run by mages. Of course it’s going to be colorful. The whole game doesn’t take place in Minrathous, you can see gameplay screenshots in other locations like Antiva and Nevarra. Edit: also they showed Minrathous like 3 years ago and it looked exactly the same. Kinda late to complain about it now

Why is it so that a regular rouge can destroy magic barriers and punch back magic attacks? Just cuz they are in Minrathos is not an answer. It used to be extremely important witch class or race you are to be able to perform stuff, now it’s just child like - I USE SPECIAL KNIFE - game…. Loses a lot of world buildup 😢

I remember when a Pride Demon was so dangerous and entire tower full of mages turned into a shitshow and enslaved almost everybody there along with several other demons to the point where the choice was go into the belly of the beast and face countless monsters and demons to set the mages free, or just say fuck it and burn them all to the ground and try your best to hollow the ground.
Demons really been demoted to fodder enemies lol. Pride demons used to be end game monsters, now they're the tutorial boss. Really hate the new direction these games took after 2...
I mean, they were never really scary looking. I don't see much difference here other than color combos. It's a big underdetailed minotaur and a wraith.
This combat looks so clunky functionally, while being overly flashy cinematically. Not sure I am going to care much for it. Granted I haven't seen the other classes yet. I don't know. I am hopeful for this, but I am not sure it's going to be for me.
No way the game play was so fluid. You can ariel attack, auto cancel, dodge, heavy, light attack etc. Watch again if you need to, I still wanna see Mage game play as I'm curious how that class will handle these new mechanics.
That delay every time you take a hit looks like it's going to get incredibly infuriating very fast. But then again, when you spend most of your time doing flips and shit, of course you're going to get hit. Don't think it's gonna be for me, either, but staying hopeful.

Darkspawn seem to be in the gameas the Warden fought them in the trailer...but you might have missed them because they look goofy and made for kids to be funny...
In the environment designs' defense, Tevinter is a Mage-Oligarchy, basically an Orwellian State but magic-y. That's to say that there's a large amount if it, basically emanating from the location. Magic throughout the series is pretty flashy and bright, so elements of that are carried over; plus you have the whole line of Solas trying to weaken the barrier between The Veil and Thedas itself, amplifying magic seeping in and out. Or it's just a change in design, this game has pretty much had its entire staff replaced twice, save for what, four changes in a Game Director? EA has been fucking Bioware up for years, but also, some of the uber-woke shit is on Bioware itself. All in all, I'm cautiously optimistic, I mostly liked Inquisition, and Origins was/is still my favorite.
thing is, he even mentioned that he took steps to minimise the damage, but I think now that the most "safe" way he came up with has gone, he will only resort to the totally destructive way that is going to result in the most deaths. I bet money he will bring this up in game that they shouldnt have disrupted the first ritual because all that is left is death
Please for the love of god bioware revert the demons back to what they looked like in previous games and give us the inquisition combat over this with 3 teammates, why break from a formula that already worked for the series and alienate your core audience?
My thoughts exactly. At least in DA:I we had a unique magic hand, so that barrier could be effective against everyone except PC. Here? They could've just used some police tape to the same effect

You do not control the Group anymore. You have 3 Skills. Demons look like shite. How do you tank with 3 Skills? How do you play Heal with 3 Skills? How do you manage any tactic on higher difficulty with 3 Skills??? WTF is this?
Dragon Age: Origins was a class of its own. Looking at this abomination doesn't even make me angry...I am just sad. So many years have passed since EA made something good. It is time to stop waiting for anything they are going to publish.
So much sound effects, so many neon lights, does not feel like dark fantasy rpg that tries to make you feel that the world is real, more like children’s UA-cam widow thumbnail - bright and jumpy. Hate it And big snowflakes as ice magic effect?! Is this game really made by 12 yrs old?
Also the combat looks horribly boring. Fighting against melee NPCs and there's no parry, no counter attack, just reaction to the character's offensive attacks until they die. Major yawn.
Not to mention this same lv1 dude with a basic sword, flipping about 30 feet side-to-side to dodge literally every single attack and reflecting lightning with his shins as he does so. I'm a bit disappointed but, hopefully most of these things that seem like poor writing/executions can be explained and/or changed/adjusted before launch.
I think what he said "I took precautions" is what got affected. He was opening the veil while keeping the worst of whatever's on the other side at bay. But when the ritual got interrupted the veil was still opening but those two figures we saw snuck through
it very obviously wasn't stopped. But I'm under the assumption that those statues are of gods. There was also a statement that there are other gods in this game, not just Solas

Companion reduction from 3 to 2 will make character interaction a lot less engaging. It changes the whole party dynamic. One character will always feel like the third wheel, and it’s probably going to be Rook. Also, being unable to control any of your companions takes away from getting to know them better. DA has always been story- and character-driven. Be honest. The only reason you did this was because you couldn’t get the (extremely generic-looking) combat system to work otherwise. Oh, and time constraints, probably. BTW, combat does not look fluid, at all. It looks viscous, for lack of a better word. Rubbery? Rook’s jumps and lunges feel awkward. Combat in DA2 looks more fluid than this. A game from 2011, which was rushed because, imo, someone at EA hates the DA franchise as a whole (and the trailer/gameplay reveal only add to my tinfoil-y suspicions). And then there are the clichés. My gods, the clichés… Are they ever strong with this one! I mean, suddenly having Alpha Ogre-like strength to move load-bearing wooden beams propping up gargantuan statues, for the sake of story progression? Is this for real!? Oh wow! Scaffolding as a plot device to thwart the evil guy’s plans! So original! Never seen that before!
Not to mention the lack of textures. It’s 2024. This is supposed to be a triple A game! - The raindrops look like molten candle wax. Wet textures in DA3 look more realistic. Just travel to the Storm Coast and check out all the different wet/drenched/dripping/sopping textures based on fabric type alone. - Rook leaves no footprints in the snow or ripples in puddles of water. Characters left footprints in sand and snow in the previous game, their clothes got dirty and wet etc. - The group of rats (at 5:10) fleeing from whatever Sparkling Disco Demons looks like it’s gliding just above the surface. There’s no water splashes. The style, the design, everything looks sanitized, sterile, too clean, and kind of, I dunno, unfinished? I mean, Minrathous is being attacked by demons, yet there are no bodies of any casualties to be seen anywhere…? No destroyed buildings? Not even a trashcan that got knocked over! The only destruction we get to see comes in the shape of a few broken vases. Oh, and info-dropping/spoiling what feels like integral parts of the story doesn’t help either. You put a massive spoiler at the end of this gameplay reveal, which you then elaborated on in interviews a few days later. Luckily, the trailer already killed my hype, or else I would be furious. I waited 9 damn years, only to see Solas fail most pathetically thanks to conveniently placed scaffolding. You can’t make that shxt up! Who gives a fk about what the “Trespasser” DLC set up, am I right? Or the other two games… What happened in the forest of Tirashan? Will we learn more about the Titans? How about some more Dwarven lore in general? Primeval thaig, anyone? What about the Architect? Anyone remember that big B? I sincerely wish to be proven wrong and that I’ve indeed judged the game too soon and too harshly. If not, I fear it’s going to be BioWare’s self-fatality… PS: The Venatori that’s being sent flying at 6:04? Looks about as dynamic as enemies being thrown into that acid pool in Mortal Kombat 2.
This trailer is the conclusion of Trespasser. Dreadwolf still feels like an entire game went missing inbetween inquisition and this. We missed the entirety of Solas' plan, the buildup to a botched ritual, the remnants of the inquisition doing what they can to find or stop Solas. We don't get Dreadwolf the game, the product that was billed this whole time. Instead we get what looks like it should be the sequel to Dreadwolf post ritual and the fade is torn open. That 10 year gap that's missing is the game most of us were anticipating. Also, this looks like it would have been better staying the multiplayer game it was supposed to be instead of this hackneyed attempt to turn an online game into a single player, story driven one. The irony of this game having issues with identity is not lost in me.
Why write a game around the great antagonist that we have a history with, when we can imprison him in the Fade, replace him with two mediocre cartoonish villains and turn Solas into the Emperor from Baldur's Gate 3? 🤣 Such great potential wasted. I will celebrate on the day Bioware closes and these pigs lose their jobs. 😊
@@4RedJohn they could have plotted the disruption better instead of some conveniently placed, sketchy looking scaffold. Could have had a whole other game devoted to how we're gonna disrupt the ritual without knowing the consequences because Solas will not stop being cryptic during every encounter as we transitioned from inquisitor to rook. A whole game where we assist Dorian in fending off the venatori as he rallies his allies in tevinter. A whole game where we curry favors from Vivienne as she's far off in orlais managing the circles of magic. A whole game reconstructing the wardens, restoring them to their former graces. A whole game where we help Varrick stop the lyrium smuggling into tevinter via the merchants guild. Trap solas in the fade, and start over is somehow what we're getting.
It's because they put that in the comics, dragon age the missing is where the whole search, who neve is and why varic is looking for Solas and why he's calling her the greatest detective he's ever met. I think they seem to have forgotten that lots of people don't read comics anymore so you would have to read that to get more insight into the gap But still doesn't explain some of the other dumb shit like the scaffolding causing a chain reaction and that Solas got trapped in the fade by his own prison lol
Yeah, like everything from DAO just dissapeared, all characters, style and design, even Darkspawns :/ yeah, sure, Alistair was a fag, but all together it was one of the best expierience in my gaming life. The only hope in some kind of remake or just play it again
One of the best games ever made still til this day. All the impact full decisions, Morrigan and Flameth hell all that, the game is Amazing. I'm starting another playthrough later today.
BioWare is a different company than they were back then also. Got a lot of new people that don’t seem to understand what makes dragon age great. This has for a modern audience vibes all over it. That never ends well.
We enter a city with neon signs, where the alleys are illuminated with all the colors of the rainbow. A heroine with a manicure and heels. In the background, you can hear speech from an automatically tuned speaker. Are we really living in the Middle Ages and fighting for Duncan's death?
Due to their creative bankruptcy, Bioware was unable to imagine a "grand, spectacular ancient city ruled by magic" without making it a dystopian futuristic cyberpunk. 🤣 I bet they imagined Seheron as something out of Mad Max movie 🤣
I freaking hate this combat system. Party members are reduced to 3 and don't even have health bars, so the AI just focuses down the player character which makes playing ranged characters like archers and mages a menace. The party member's damage is also almost non-existent, making them just on the screen for show! You can't even swap characters! 3 games in, and they suddenly decide to change it to this nonsense!
I wouldn't worry about that. If you look carefully, the enemies mostly just stand still and barely attack us, so that particular thing shouldn't be a problem XD But seriously, I am just as disappointed as you are, friend. I've been waiting for this game for so long, only to see that they did nothing meaningful over the years and now they want to make a cash grab...

Leaning way too heavily into the "high fantasy, quippy action-adventure" style was not the move. If you write a Dragon Age where a character does a slashing uppercut into one demon leading into a backflip plunging attack on another while saying a one-liner, you do not know what Dragon Age is. Perhaps you wanted Final Fantasy XV?

There's a specific reason why they look that way at that time and place in the game. "Busche stated that many of the enemies were designed to look like they have exposed nervous systems, because they were embodiments of raw emotion born from Solas’ tortured emotional state." Does anybody else think this just looks exactly like Hogwarts Legacy, but Dragon Age? The manner of movement, the combat, even up to the little flashing halo indicators over the character's head before an incoming attack? I realise the franchise has been going downhill since Origins, but I'm still surprised to see Dragon Age going from an RPG to a casual soulslike.
They seem to be the seals keeping the evenuris locked away. Solas was probably able to siphon their magical power while they were locked up. Now that they are free he probably has no plan to tear the veil, and no plan to imprison them again.

This looks cartoony and dumb. You would think with how well they made Inquisition that the character would look more lifelike and not more childish and cartoony. Dragon age is a dark fantasy and deserves a more mature look. 😊

This does seem to be a versatile character class at low level, so maybe the 3 is just for this class and/or a low level thing. I’d think a mage would probably have more than 3 spell slots.
I really miss the old demon designs. Kind of wondering if this is maybe something explained in game? If it's just an artistic choice then can't say I'm too pleased, it feels very jarring

The mage on the outside is shielding the gem, you can see it disappear as the mage goes flying off the cliff. They played the line at the wrong time (in my opinion) but it's not just "stab the gem and the barrier just disappears"

this is incredible, i don't know how it's possible, but they appear to have divined everything i'd hoped to get out of a dragon age game and done the exact opposite. sometimes when you miss a game you actually miss how you felt when it was a part of your life, but in this case, i miss origins because it is the antithesis of everything displayed here. ea destroys everything it touches; RIP.

He reminds me of Astarion in some way, only Dorian is a lot more pleasant and supportive, and does not use his past trauma as a justification for his shitty behaviour. And don't even get me started on a romance, which starts with and is completely build on lies and manipulation (or abuse in his "evil ending" or co-dependence and gaslighting in "good" ending) unlike Dorian, who always threats you with respect and kindness as a partner. And knows what he feels for you, and where you stand as a couple, which gives you more certainty that his feelings are genuine.
Even if you don't romance him, once you build a relationship with Dorian he becomes extremely caring of your Inquisitor, especially in the Tresspasser.
Now that I think about it, its a shame that Astarion became so popular, while Dorian didn't, because to me, Dorian is the "perfect" Astarion - who is as witty and interesting , but also more pleasant and nice, as a friend or lover.
He never needed an MC therapist who needed to "fix" him all the time, becoming his life coach; He just needed a friend to support him, and Dorian was more than willing to do what is right on his own.
Even as a traumatized, misunderstood loner.

The demons don’t look frightening or even demonic anymore, they just look like floaty lights. It barely feels like a dragon age game, it’s like a fanfic. The fact that we can’t even jump between our party is sad, like what even is this? Nothing about it looks feels or sounds nice. But why do the demons look like that?! They don’t look like fearsome forces of devastation that were feared by mage and Templar alike, they’re just screeching fodder.
They look more interesting to me.

Have you played the games enough for them to mention Tevinter at all and have it stick in your mind..? It is a society run by the most powerful mages in the world, and is much more advanced. This is talked about in DA:I so many times. Dorian never shuts up about how awful Ferelden is because of it.

Tbh as someone who liked Inquisition a lot, i couldn’t care less about deviating from tactical combat. When playing Inquisition i noticed that i didn't used tactical combat a single time until i played the game in Nightmare difficulty lol.
So for me at least, this new approach making the third person combat more dynamic and fun works well.
What I notice is;
-No health bar for ally
-Ally do minimum to no damage to enemies
-Enemies only target your character
they specifically state that companion control is disabled for this preview

it's probably a nod to the "we will convince him and save him from himself" final dialogue choice in inquisition. and you can't blame varric for trying, even in a vacuum, because he makes a good point about how people are often just hoping for someone to talk them down, and in the heat of the moment, on that precipice, it can be very different to a philosophical/theoretical talk earlier.
Shout out to my fellow traumatized DA fans who are still in denial and keep coming back to shake our disbelief. I still don't want to believe this is what a favorite franchise has become.

@@krasmasov6852that's irrespective of the fact that this is not a natural evolution from Inquisition. Everything is different from basic enemy designs all the way to core gameplay mechanics. This isn't a sequel to inquisition, this doesn't fit the bill being sold by the trespasser dlc.
Granted none of the entries have been true sequels to the previous one, but this one was supposed to be. And since it's not that, we will never ever get that.
Mastering the Virulence upgrade with the necromancer from inquisition multiplayer is dragon age combat at it's best. The crowd control abilities are still some of the best in any RPG. That's why my expectations were so lofty, they had quite a bit just right with inquisition and it only needed refined.

This combat looks so clunky functionally, while being overly flashy cinematically. Not sure I am going to care much for it. Granted I haven't seen the other classes yet. I don't know. I am hopeful for this, but I am not sure it's going to be for me.
No way the game play was so fluid. You can ariel attack, auto cancel, dodge, heavy, light attack etc. Watch again if you need to, I still wanna see Mage game play as I'm curious how that class will handle these new mechanics.

In the environment designs' defense, Tevinter is a Mage-Oligarchy, basically an Orwellian State but magic-y.
That's to say that there's a large amount if it, basically emanating from the location.
Magic throughout the series is pretty flashy and bright, so elements of that are carried over; plus you have the whole line of Solas trying to weaken the barrier between The Veil and Thedas itself, amplifying magic seeping in and out.
Or it's just a change in design, this game has pretty much had its entire staff replaced twice, save for what, four changes in a Game Director?
EA has been fucking Bioware up for years, but also, some of the uber-woke shit is on Bioware itself.
All in all, I'm cautiously optimistic, I mostly liked Inquisition, and Origins was/is still my favorite.

Also the combat looks horribly boring. Fighting against melee NPCs and there's no parry, no counter attack, just reaction to the character's offensive attacks until they die. Major yawn.

Not to mention this same lv1 dude with a basic sword, flipping about 30 feet side-to-side to dodge literally every single attack and reflecting lightning with his shins as he does so. I'm a bit disappointed but, hopefully most of these things that seem like poor writing/executions can be explained and/or changed/adjusted before launch.
Solas decided to carry out his super important, entire life's plan where an integral piece of the ritual can be stopped by destroying some wood.

I think what he said "I took precautions" is what got affected. He was opening the veil while keeping the worst of whatever's on the other side at bay. But when the ritual got interrupted the veil was still opening but those two figures we saw snuck through
it very obviously wasn't stopped. But I'm under the assumption that those statues are of gods.
There was also a statement that there are other gods in this game, not just Solas
He has really always been terrible at planning contingencies... see whole Dragon Age: Inquisition.

Companion reduction from 3 to 2 will make character interaction a lot less engaging. It changes the whole party dynamic. One character will always feel like the third wheel, and it’s probably going to be Rook.
Also, being unable to control any of your companions takes away from getting to know them better. DA has always been story- and character-driven.
Be honest. The only reason you did this was because you couldn’t get the (extremely generic-looking) combat system to work otherwise. Oh, and time constraints, probably.
BTW, combat does not look fluid, at all. It looks viscous, for lack of a better word. Rubbery? Rook’s jumps and lunges feel awkward. Combat in DA2 looks more fluid than this. A game from 2011, which was rushed because, imo, someone at EA hates the DA franchise as a whole (and the trailer/gameplay reveal only add to my tinfoil-y suspicions).
And then there are the clichés. My gods, the clichés… Are they ever strong with this one!
I mean, suddenly having Alpha Ogre-like strength to move load-bearing wooden beams propping up gargantuan statues, for the sake of story progression? Is this for real!?
Oh wow! Scaffolding as a plot device to thwart the evil guy’s plans! So original! Never seen that before!
Not to mention the lack of textures. It’s 2024. This is supposed to be a triple A game!
- The raindrops look like molten candle wax. Wet textures in DA3 look more realistic. Just travel to the Storm Coast and check out all the different wet/drenched/dripping/sopping textures based on fabric type alone.
- Rook leaves no footprints in the snow or ripples in puddles of water. Characters left footprints in sand and snow in the previous game, their clothes got dirty and wet etc.
- The group of rats (at 5:10) fleeing from whatever Sparkling Disco Demons looks like it’s gliding just above the surface. There’s no water splashes.
The style, the design, everything looks sanitized, sterile, too clean, and kind of, I dunno, unfinished?
I mean, Minrathous is being attacked by demons, yet there are no bodies of any casualties to be seen anywhere…? No destroyed buildings? Not even a trashcan that got knocked over! The only destruction we get to see comes in the shape of a few broken vases.
Oh, and info-dropping/spoiling what feels like integral parts of the story doesn’t help either. You put a massive spoiler at the end of this gameplay reveal, which you then elaborated on in interviews a few days later.
Luckily, the trailer already killed my hype, or else I would be furious.
I waited 9 damn years, only to see Solas fail most pathetically thanks to conveniently placed scaffolding. You can’t make that shxt up!

This trailer is the conclusion of Trespasser. Dreadwolf still feels like an entire game went missing inbetween inquisition and this.
We missed the entirety of Solas' plan, the buildup to a botched ritual, the remnants of the inquisition doing what they can to find or stop Solas.
We don't get Dreadwolf the game, the product that was billed this whole time. Instead we get what looks like it should be the sequel to Dreadwolf post ritual and the fade is torn open. That 10 year gap that's missing is the game most of us were anticipating.
Also, this looks like it would have been better staying the multiplayer game it was supposed to be instead of this hackneyed attempt to turn an online game into a single player, story driven one. The irony of this game having issues with identity is not lost in me.
Why write a game around the great antagonist that we have a history with, when we can imprison him in the Fade, replace him with two mediocre cartoonish villains and turn Solas into the Emperor from Baldur's Gate 3? 🤣
Such great potential wasted. I will celebrate on the day Bioware closes and these pigs lose their jobs. 😊

Could have had a whole other game devoted to how we're gonna disrupt the ritual without knowing the consequences because Solas will not stop being cryptic during every encounter as we transitioned from inquisitor to rook. A whole game where we assist Dorian in fending off the venatori as he rallies his allies in tevinter. A whole game where we curry favors from Vivienne as she's far off in orlais managing the circles of magic. A whole game reconstructing the wardens, restoring them to their former graces. A whole game where we help Varrick stop the lyrium smuggling into tevinter via the merchants guild.
Trap solas in the fade, and start over is somehow what we're getting.
It's because they put that in the comics, dragon age the missing is where the whole search, who neve is and why varic is looking for Solas and why he's calling her the greatest detective he's ever met.
I think they seem to have forgotten that lots of people don't read comics anymore so you would have to read that to get more insight into the gap
But still doesn't explain some of the other dumb shit like the scaffolding causing a chain reaction and that Solas got trapped in the fade by his own prison lol

Watching it for a second time, I believe the problem with the entire franchise is that BioWare thinks Dragon Age Origins was a terrible game.
Yeah, like everything from DAO just dissapeared, all characters, style and design, even Darkspawns :/ yeah, sure, Alistair was a fag, but all together it was one of the best expierience in my gaming life. The only hope in some kind of remake or just play it again
One of the best games ever made still til this day. All the impact full decisions, Morrigan and Flameth hell all that, the game is Amazing. I'm starting another playthrough later today.

Due to their creative bankruptcy, Bioware was unable to imagine a "grand, spectacular ancient city ruled by magic" without making it a dystopian futuristic cyberpunk. 🤣 I bet they imagined Seheron as something out of Mad Max movie 🤣

I freaking hate this combat system. Party members are reduced to 3 and don't even have health bars, so the AI just focuses down the player character which makes playing ranged characters like archers and mages a menace. The party member's damage is also almost non-existent, making them just on the screen for show! You can't even swap characters! 3 games in, and they suddenly decide to change it to this nonsense!
I wouldn't worry about that. If you look carefully, the enemies mostly just stand still and barely attack us, so that particular thing shouldn't be a problem XD
But seriously, I am just as disappointed as you are, friend. I've been waiting for this game for so long, only to see that they did nothing meaningful over the years and now they want to make a cash grab...

It was the ice mage's barrier. She dropped it after they were dead. It's one of the few aspects that made any sense.
Leaning way too heavily into the "high fantasy, quippy action-adventure" style was not the move. If you write a Dragon Age where a character does a slashing uppercut into one demon leading into a backflip plunging attack on another while saying a one-liner, you do not know what Dragon Age is. Perhaps you wanted Final Fantasy XV?

Does anybody else think this just looks exactly like Hogwarts Legacy, but Dragon Age? The manner of movement, the combat, even up to the little flashing halo indicators over the character's head before an incoming attack? They seem to be the seals keeping the evenuris locked away. Solas was probably able to siphon their magical power while they were locked up. Now that they are free he probably has no plan to tear the veil, and no plan to imprison them again.

Not sure I'm a fan of only 3 spell slots for each character. DAI had 8, which was _already_ a downgrade from the 20+ we could have in DAO/DA2.

Remember that you get more as you level up and that they could be toggled to show the other set of spells. Going to guess they'll do similarly here.

This does seem to be a versatile character class at low level, so maybe the 3 is just for this class and/or a low level thing. I’d think a mage would probably have more than 3 spell slots.
I really miss the old demon designs. Kind of wondering if this is maybe something explained in game? If it's just an artistic choice then can't say I'm too pleased, it feels very jarring

The mage on the outside is shielding the gem, you can see it disappear as the mage goes flying off the cliff. They played the line at the wrong time (in my opinion) but it's not just "stab the gem and the barrier just disappears"
