    It seems to be the anti-scarecrow.. The Scarecrow album was about the creature [Scarecrow] looking for love, acceptance into the bright new world he was exploring to escape the monotony of his dark fields he tended..
    Moonglow on the other hand, is the story of a nocturnal creature that sees this bright world he never knew existed, and he avoids and runs away from the light, instead preferring to bask in the "Moonglow" of the dark night.

      I love this comment. I was thinking this album was significantly more positive in tone and feel and this song in particular has a strong resemblance to The Scarecrow. That resemblance is so strong that I've mentally logged this as their second greatest piece under The Scarecrow, but the lyrical interpretation you offer is so apt. I think what I love about both pieces, adding to your contrast, is that the lyrics and singing in The Scarecrow are masterful, as is the instrumentation and composition. However, they shine independent from one another. The Raven Child is quite different. Through almost the whole song, with equal lyrics, singing, instrumentation, and composition, there's a constant play off each other. The strip of bars between 3:15 and 4:03 is an example of this. They accentuate and boost one another in this conscious effort that makes this song the star of this album. Great catch with the "anti-Scarecrow."

    • @jakobfel2
      @jakobfel2 5 років тому +2

      I see that theme for sure. For me, this album was more of a loose concept about escapism, which means a lot to me being that I love fantasy and fictional stories since they allow me to get away from this world for a bit while enjoying another world where I can actually make a difference.

    It's a breathtaking effusiveness and poetic awe, which are converged so distinctly (hence the "Avant-Garde" style) which still, it yet happens for me to get a bit lost haha. Hansi should take part in every power metal band. Now that would be great for the genre.

    The bridge from 6:48 reminds me of Carry on my wayward son... :D But the whole sends chill down my spine! I can hardly wait to see you guys live again in Budapest, Hungary awaits you!!

    ¿Por qué no se estudia Avantasia en los conservatorios de música? Y lo mismo con Blind Guardian, LT Rhapsody, Dream Theater, Ayreon...
    Esta nueva maravilla con el sello de Tobias tiene detrás mucho conocimiento musical, es una auténtica joya.

      Totalmente de acuerdo yo soy músico, dedicó mucho tiempo a ello y te puedo decir que hay una gran admiración por los grandes compositores clásicos, barrocos, romanticismo... pero el metal se deja de lado cuando ha desarrollado toda esa teoría incluso diría que hay algo de Wagner en el metal, crean un mundo de fantasía que casi no podía imaginarse antes...

      Completamente de acuerdo con usted! Esto es teoría musical en su máxima expresión, y siendo honesta, no creo que otros géneros musicales más allá del metal tengan esta hermosura de sonido y calidad lírica. Creo que Nightwish, Avantasia y Blind Guardian son grandes exponentes de este tipo de géneros metaleros! Saludos!

    Man, this is just fantastic ! Combination of Tobi, Hansi and Jorn ? Just too good...Just not sure about the first time when the intruments kick in, the mixing in that part is a little strange, the sound kinda compressed I on't.know... But anyway,.what absolutely amazing track, Tobi is a genius ! I LOVE Ghostlights, but this is their best song since Scarecrow in my opinion

    Das beste was ich in den letzten Jahren gehört habe.Hoffentlich kann er noch mehr so epische Songs kreieren. Hansi in einem unglaublich stimmungsvollen Intro. Ich habe sie in Bamberg und in München gesehen. Avantasia hat immer hervorragend geliefert. Bitte Tobi, wenn du das lesen solltest, mach bitte weiter so.
