There's definitely a lot of changes but I think the medallions are the biggest offender. The idea of getting mythic weapons from killing bosses is cool but getting infinite shields too is a bit much.
I personally don’t think it’s fun playing against them. Like oh I hit a snipe..fucking pointless because the movement is dogshit. Oh I hit him 80 with my pump and he just boxed up and waits for 15 secs it’s really boring
It's not that hard to kill someone that has a medallion u just can't give him time to Regen shield
@Toastbuster1 so hit headshots instead of body shots. The medallions are the easiest part to play around. Get one first If you think it's so op

me and my friends were saying the same thing. we had so many friends come back for OG and were loving it, but almost everyone quit again this season
As someone who stopped playing again after OG, having tried out 5, i fully agree.
If they changed the non sprint speed back to normal a lot of people would still find it fun but there definitely is too much ai atm. They also made some really good changes for controller that I haven’t heard anyone talk about yet with regards to wall resetting and weapon binding. The medallions are op and if they keep them in the game the should at least take up an actual item slot.

They added a quick weapon swap where u bind any button like R1 so that will always be your first slot when not in build mode and if you hold it it brings up binds for the other 4 slots so you don’t need to scroll anymore. And you don’t need to confirm a wall reset anymore it’s instant
nobody talks about them cause theyre not new, they both were introduced before the OG season, but yeah they wre good changes.

They should have done Grotto season, that was early mythics and AI and more digestible, plus just a super fun season

It's difficult for novice players to compete when other players have medallions, especially in solos. There are times when i have someone with a medallion low, and they just impulse out and are fully healed by the time I get to them. It's worse that the players with medallions are usually the best players in the server.
Honestly I wouldve played chapter 5 if it wasnt for the movement change, the OG season made me wanna keep playing just cause its such a unique and different game then other BR's.
But the movement feels so awful now and makes building (the most fun and unique part of the game) just not fun.
I fired up the new season, and ive literally played probably 8 games in total so far. I just cant play it with the shit movement, the weird fuckin guns, and the weird medallions. The real offender is the movement, I just feel so slow and it doesn't even feel like the same game to me. It's 100% going to be my least played season of fortnite ever. And it's bizarre because I played the absolute fuck out of the og season, I compeltely maxed out the battlepass and the extra challenges in the og season. Into playing 8 games total this entire season so far. It's just insane how they could fuck up their game so quickly. Literally overnight for me.
I mean this is just typical Epic. Every time I think they learned the balance they do something to make me hate my time on the game. I been playing this game 6 years and I've never played less than I do since Ch5. In 4 chapters before this we got like 2 changes to movement, sprint and mantle. In one chapter change they changed everything about it. You don't do that.
What ruined it for me is the movement
Honestly I didn’t mind most of the changes however the sprint change alone made me stop playing fortnite.

Yeah they lost us originally with all the AI and mythic weapon crap, just going to happen again. Wish they’d just keep the OG map, see you next time they try to bring us back
After stopping for 3 years and coming back for one day. You either land no where, with no one and no loot, POI with AIs on steroids, or one of like 3 different locations where you can actually get a little loot. After you loot, you're lucky if you have 1 spare mini or bandages. The sprinting is painful. If you're lucky too have spare shields you can look to fight but without any spare heals you're just forced to chill to have a chance at winning.

Agree, should just have the classic simple game as the main game mode and a separate mode for all these extra map changes and loot pools

Ive played through every awful season since Ch 1 S 2 and this is the first season I’ve genuinely not been able to force myself to play… there’s been to many seasons with overcomplicated guns with not a lot of balance in the meta on top of that the movement (which has gotten better but isn’t anywhere near perfect) so tbh I’m burnt out which is odd cuz my friends that would rarely hop on are now enjoying ranked since they made it so easy to hit unreal… but for me it doesn’t really even feel or look like fortnite anymore 😐

medallions shouldn’t be in the game and the loot pool should be bigger. nobody talks about it but there’s only 9 guns in game including riot shield.

i would disagree about the medallions helping worse players. it feels more like it makes already good players better. Cause there strong enough to change a fight between two skilled players. but little jimmy who just returned is still getting dunked on by someone who has played fortnite every day for the last 4 years.

Agreed, they know how to this already, it happened it chapter 2 once before. When we went from ch1-->ch2 we had gold and new stuff with some ai here and there, as well as fishing. Like you said, new stuff but not too crazy, from there they ramped it up. However, I think it has a lot to do with how the OG season performed. Fortnite Twitter even said it performed at a much higher level than they expected, and we know they plan things years and years in advance, so they likely didn't predict how many people would actually return. I don't think they'll make it a gamemode, it would cause too much of a playerbase divide and could mess with the comp scene. If, and IF they're smart in between chapters, they'll do a month of OG, that way throughout the year they can foster interest in their game where you have an event at the end of the month of OG when everyone is still invested, reaping the benefits of both the current and old playerbase.

All Fortnite chapter 5 needs is Simplerity and one step at a time gameplay, but Nooo, Epic games wanted the game to more complex and adding extra stuff into br so it can be so much *FUN* for the whole community.

i think that og fortnite made it a huge comeback but epic failed with chapter 5, everybody i know and watched LOVED og fortnite and chapter 5 hits and everybody just quit playing the game again. they had a huge opportunity with og wether it was progressing chapter 5 off of the og map and weapons or making it a permanent mode and they didnt. they failed and it didnt surprise me cause its become epic games' thing to fail the player base each chapter has gotten worse and worse in my opinion but i may be bias cause i loved chapter one. i digress but even in og fortnite it wasnt j nostalgic it was fun again it was well balanced and it wasnt perfect but it felt like a game i couldve continued playing for a very long time.

Man all I see is bots. Quit say roughly 14 months ago, came back because old friends play. These are the guys who 1v1 build battle, box fights and zone wars right. Yet all we see is bots its INSANE how little real players we see.

good take, playing since it started, my theory is epic was running out of time for this new season and so they reworked OG quickly to buy time, it didnt feel planned out and if it was it was not done well like you said 😂

To be fair, this season chapter whatever is generally fairly simple compared to past couple years (for now). The ai are idk whatever and the medallions are overtuned, but for the most part its probably the most bare bones version of fortnite weve had since like chapter 1 season 3 or 4. Theres bland weapons, shockwaves, no traps, a grapple blade thing and cars, arguably less stuff than OG Fortnite. The weapon attachments in my opinion are very welcome, spices things up so that every gun you pick up isnt some carbon copy of another. I don't really like bullet drop in games, but they managed to make it feel really good. Lets not forget what OG Fornite had lol, season 6 onward was just a clusterfuck of nonsense that was definitely not simple. I love OG Fortnite, but god I have a very strong grudge against the ballers and that stupid fucking sword (insert not qualling winter royale and world cup because of them), I'll take ai's and mythics over that any day.
The game is more repetitive, more broken, and more chatper 2 season 2 copy and paste style more than ever.

The most fun seasons that I've ever had was chatper 4 season 1, chatper 3 season 1 and 2, chatper 2 season 4, and Season OG.

All im saying in response to everyones opinion is that this season is significantly less crazy as people are making it out to be and technically if you removed ais and mythics its about as bare bones as ch 1 season 3. Never said it was the best season, just stating facts to people just hating new Fortnite just because its popular to hate it

I think this game is straight aids now, the literal fun that this game used to bring has been strangled out by the devs thinking they need to drastically change the game to feel like cod and apex to retain players. I hate the guns and attachments, the sliding and mantling bs.

Medaillons are too good, its just boring that every game is the same. Its much more fun when you dont have to land somewhere. And I have never enjoyed poi's with music and henchman. I just want to land and fight people, not have to do the exact same objective every single game.
Also, it's not even interesting, they all do the same thing, feels lazy to me 🥱
