I bought a 2006 Jaguar S-type, 4.2 V8. 4 years ago. Still own it, fantastic car. Smooth, reliable, enough power. And, very important, not expensive at all. Just normal parts, like tires, screen wipers, oil+filters etc Only to be sure I changed water pump by 75k miles. Cost me € 290,-
These grand old vehicles are now in the modern classic class of their own. And if well looked after and maintained can still be very reliable and wonderful cars to drive. As the saying goes - They dont make them like that any more, and never will again.....
You are spot on my friend - couldn’t agree with you more….I have a 1989 and 1997 Bentley Turbo R…working on both slowly. The build quality and the power is amazing.
These old cars from 90-00s are really beautiful in an elegant way, no matter whether expensive or not. Cars in modern time are just to complicated in styling BUT Jag keeps doing a good job in XE&XF, sadly they are the last petrol jags..
I had a Rover 75 Tourer with the BMW diesel. Sort of regret selling it. Cost me £1,750. Now have a 1984 Bentley Mulsanne Turbo, which set me back £9,950 😊
Something else to consider would be the car that I have , better in every respect to the ones here and more luxury than these three put together . My car is an ultra low mileage 1990 Japanese imported Daimler series 3 XJ12 (double six) cost £10k and with just 18k on the clock I have a vitualy brand new Daimler of the kind that ruled the world . Many such cars are coming back to the UK and I just spotted a 15k miler for just £5k on ebay You just cant go wrong, no rubber belts to replace , no perished seals on the doors or boot , all analogue so no digital nightmares . and no cylinder head gasket problems that the Rover k series will suffer from every year .
That's a serious motor car you've bought and one that would be top of my "lotto win" list. Best of luck with it and many safe happy miles of motoring. In my humble opinion, the Pininfarina designed series 3 XJ is the prettiest saloon car of all time and probably the best riding car of all time too. And the Daimler double six variant was the ultimate series 3!! PS: Hope you have some £££ left over to keep those twin tanks full! :D
I use to criticize luxury British and German cars. I compared the cost of operation to my Honda vehicles all of which I drove 350,000+ miles with less than $1,500 in repair/maintenane cost. I was wrong to make that comparison!!!! Luxury British and German cars are thoroughbreds not donkeys. It costs a lot more to buy and service a thoroughbred than a donkey. You pick what you want and you pay your price. You simply know what you like and can afford. Simple as that.
£4000 is too much for an S Type. For that money you can get a much better XF with a better interior, better gearbox, better build quality and it's better looking but then not much isn't better looking than an S Type. The S Type R is a different matter, £6000 for a 420bhp rocket

"It's alright madam, it's a Jaaaag."
Bentley's head gasket replacement cost is equal to three Rover 75s.... 🙃
And mineral oil leaks.. as we've seen with Tyler Hoover Bentleys..
so its cheap... because you get a 75 for a fiver.. who would spend more for a Rover...?
@@Arltratlo If it's one with a good service record and a nice spec - why not?
Yees, old Jags, Rovers and Bentleys, bulletproof reliability!
Lol
Nobody said they were reliable. If all you want is reliability get a Honda
I've always found the most beautiful women are the hardest to live with.
Hoovies garage has taught me that Rollers and Bentleys are insatiable money pits.
I think they are joking calm down
So am I, you calm down!

Cheap to buy, expensive to own
13 mpg!
@@boilmaint sounds painful with petrol prices at around £1.30 per litre
That’s why they are cheap.
Maybe the jag is still the better car to maintain

The Rover 75 and the Jag S-Type were launched at the British Motor Show at the NEC in Oct.1998. I was there Tiff...
Cuts to the Jag interior at 1.24 😂
It's pretty horrible. Standard Ford era Jaguar
1:24 wrong interior 😂
Tiff is the only one who was on this program who I actually liked!
That Jag engine may be “smooth” - but it is positively rough compared to Mr Tiff Smooth

At 1.24 is that not the inside of a jag x type not rover 75 ?
An older S class is also a great choice

Mk3 Mondeo ST220 - Saloon model
Tiff is the very best presenter ever! 👌🏻🤩👍🏻
I really enjoy Tiff’s programs
Next: Cheap Top Gear Alternatives! 🤔😏👍
Car Throttle. Oh sorry, that is a cheap Tik Tok alternative now...
I went to tech school and worked as a mechanic for 5 years just so I could work on my own cars. I am the warranty 🕺
All dropped in value since recording except the turbo R
So early that my ad still playing 😂 ! Let's save up some money 💰 while enjoying luxury
I drive a MG ZT, really a nice car.
300 quid for a wing. I wonder if it's still that price?
Good old Tiff
A Bentley that won't break the bank. Turbo R. Tyler Hoover are you watching this?

Really Tiff? Reeeeeaaaally?
The 75 really is pretty good. Look at driver power survey and it was still in the top 15 cars in 2011
Well. It is. Tell me what's wrong with it?
I dream of paying £400 for discs and pads lol
Aftermarket is your friend.
@@DashCamSerbia still £800+ but better than £1300 that merc want
@@ericpisch2732 Damn.
I pay £1200 for a set of aftermarket discs and pads. Brakes are expensive on fast, heavy cars
My ass is 1,000 dealer be like 10,000 still looks factory new
500 miles later I bet the rover broke down
Yes true, .But during that first 500 miles it would have been a wonderful drive...
Fifth gear 😍
Rover 75 compared to Bentley 😂😂🤷♂️
Lexus ls 600 a better car !
Yes true , But I still want to drive one of those vehicles before they brake down.
Why do all motoring presenters talk...like....that?🤣
Vw phaeton should have been on the list
3 cambelts on the Rover? what a stupid design
🙄
Stop trying to make British cars a thing they will never be anything more than pain in A$$
