Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War began with a small commitment of 30 military advisors in 1962, and increased over the following decade to a peak of 7,672...
From the time of the arrival of the first members of the Team in 1962 almost 60,000 Australians, including ground troops and air force and navy personnel, served in Vietnam; 521 died as a result of the war and over 3,000 were wounded.
By the time the last Australian personnel were withdrawn in 1972, the Vietnam War had become Australia's longest war, eventually being surpassed by Australia's long-term commitment to the War in Afghanistan...

My Father fought in the Pacific in WW II. He had nothing but good to say about his "Aussie" friends! May God Bless these fallen soldiers and comfort their families.
Johnboy using wifes computer. My Dad was a top turret gunner on a B25 in New Guina(spelling) and a purple heart veteran. His most interesting stories were those of the Aussies and the everyday people he met while in Australia. He even went kangaroo hunting with an Aussie millionaire for a month while recovering from wounds-a great story all by itself. My Dad had a tremmendous respect for the everyday people of Australia and for the soliders and airman of Australia. It was a respect that lasted his whole life. He was a man very much defined by the events of WW2 as were many Australians and Americans.
Rip to the fallen you will never be forgotten, you fought for our lives and that’s all that matters, but now. Your in a better place Love from Australia thank you for your service 😪

rip - thank you from the USA
The movie Danger Close should be released later this year about the true story of the Aussies in the battle of Long Tan
It was quite good in evoking the sense of being in battle. However some glaring factual mistakes...no, they didn't run completely out of ammo, no, Major Smith wasn't a cunt lol, no he didn't carry a sidearm...and the dialogue was yankified Hollywood in many cases, unfortunately. Not how Australian troops of the 1960s spoke. And the trigger discipline, ouch lol
RIP

very moving ceremony--glad these men are back home
yes, very touching
wow what a fantastic guard of honor this will make the departed proud
Just remember neither Turnbull or Shorten attended this. Absolute disgrace.
I know that ,bloody idiots no wonder I stopped voting for those clowns
Well said mate, l’m glad someone else picked up on this. Those 2 political nut cases are a national disgrace.
Yes an absolute disgrace. And they both continue to be clowns. Most of the men who died in Vietnam were conscripted - by politicians!
Sad to say the death don't bring in votes as the the gay lesbian march as both of them attended !!
They are a disgrace to our country
God bless these men. Just speaking as an ordinary American, I'm proud and humbled to have people like this at our side.
Thank You all Aussie Diggers served in Vietnam . You have all done your duty to help defending the freedom of the fledging Republic of Vietnam .Your mission has been accomplished and we , the freedom loving South Vietnamese are all indebted to you and the Australian governments who support our people in their unsuccessful defense of their homeland
Rest in peace brave men

I am honored to meet the Australian people
They were our comrades, John Lott, US Army, Vietnam Veteran.
I was in Perth when some came home to a Hospital and died here... that was hard enough... and then I had to be part of a Catafalque Party for my Warrant Officer in the RAAF (my later svce)
The Commonwealth doesn't forget sorry we weren't with you on this war salute and RIP.. - ex Brit-Army.
rockywr you were there with the French, we just showed up later
The Brits briefly took control of Vietnam just after 1945 as Japanese commander only surrended to Brit commander, a fact not very well known. For a short period the Brits were doing a good job to calm the situation and was winning the trust of locals. But the French screwed up again when control was handed back to them, lost control of North Vietnam to communists and finally left VN with a civil war in 1954.
I'm Australian🇦🇺 ❤❤ RIP. Thank you for your service and for serving our country. So sad😢😢❤
Heavy Heart 😔
