Great work on this channel! Just the two of you, no camera person and no scuba gear! beautiful underwater shots snorkeling and totally educational in a down to earth way! Fair winds....and Fosters
I don't think Troy has had a bigger smile. Love tuning in guy's. Every ep. for about a yr now. Great trip - well planned really. Good to wait for the Northerlies.
It's fun seeing you sail through places I've lived. I've seen that Gold Coast Seaway with 5-6 foot wave faces breaking on the inside of the seaway. Deep inside. The surf outside so big the light house on the end completely disappearing...and that's on the small sets. There's footage of a big catamaran surfing a wave, standing half way up it's mast, into the seaway. A calm passage through there is not something to be disappointed by. I note over 5000 views just 4 hours after video release. Killing it.
Congrats on a successful exciting sail. Downwind sailing like that requires confidence in the boat, rigging, and seamanship. As much as you guys share there are still many things that just can't be shown. Dolphins swimming at the bow in pitch black night leaving ghostly trails of bioluminescence is one of the most magical things I've ever seen. Yet it's something that can't be filmed and can barely be described. Thanks for reminding me of that memory. Fair winds.
Enjoy Yamba and upstream. Did the same in reverse with my wife a few years back (Coffs to the Seaway) with the tail end of a southerly buster. Character building and skill defining. Really enjoying the vibe of your vids.
I grew up in Yamba and have crossed that bar in all kinds of weather and at night as well. It can be tricky and more than a few people have gotten into trouble especially at night, so you guys did very well! I hoped you enjoyed the Clarence Valley, it holds a very special place in my heart.
Bars! My first bar-crossing was in 2017; the Wide Bay bar going in......the chart plotter said we did 19.6knots. Maybe the world’s fastest Zeston 36? Terry Mitchell
Nice video...predictwind for currents has been a big game changer for us..not those great helping currents we get to factor in (or the bad hurting currents, but then you sort of know where to go to avoid the worst of bad currents. A ways...great video as usual...enjoyed it! -§Rebecca on SV Brick House
Another fine one Matey!! You are our favorite sailors on the mighty blue and are becoming VERY accomplished at sailing and capturing the moments on camera :-)
That's a typical run south from the Seaway to the Clarence. I only allow 18 hours in my Top Hat [25'] and it's always slow until you reach Tweed Head. I'm sure you will have found it to be much the same down the rest of the NSW coast.
Look they provide a great public service. They aerate the water which improves it's oxygen carrying capacity for the fish. They spend money at marine businesses. They pay double licence fees. And some of them are organ donors.
Great sailing ⛵️ can always count on a lot of sailing while on your Vlogs!!Your boat is fast!! Yea so much for hull speed calculations 😂Thanks for sharing glad you made it safely to the harbour
Yes, it really adds to it with a big screen, don't you think, mine is a projection 3.2m x 2.1. Really feels like being aboard. Heaps of fun watching these guys!

14:15 Would you trust your eyes on the lead lights the most, or would you trust your chart plotter? I suppose a blue-over-blue is fairly difficult to get wrong..
Make sure the two agree or stand off if there is too much uncertainty. I was used to following leads before we had plotters so in my case, I like lead and sector lights.
@@FreeRangeLiving I've done a bit of instrument flying, so I feel right at home with opencpn on the big screen. We once had to get a mates yacht off a sandbar in the pitch black dead of night with only a compass and a laptop - it was rather unfunny at the time, but a quality lesson.
Geez! Love the way you maneuvered that sail Troy. Pascal, have you seen the movie Maiden? You'd love it and it would give you more confidence. You have the skills.
You two are soooo lucky !! To be able to swim and see such beautiful seascape's !! Can you tell me what underwater gear you are using ? If I can find them, I have some camera filters that I used for color correcting underwater photo's and video. Mostly for correcting the blue, green and cyan bias from sea water ! Some of the filters are sharp cutoff di-chroic's, so you get less blue only ! So, let me know what the lens diameter threads are used for screw-on filters ? And, let me know where to send them ! Take Care and Merry X-Mas !!
A question. Was Mirrool a purchase from Yorkeys Knob. I believe I knew the previous owner who was a great guy who is not with us anymore. I used to be moored two away and we had great boatie chats for a few years. Always admired the little ship. May well be wrong...
Love that you are in an area that enlightens my heart. Possible you can can include an explanation of Polars? I'm sure Mirrool loved smashing expectations.
Great stuff guys, we are planning to do the same trip shortly, will be our first time offshore in the boat. Looking forward to the adventure. I saw the current absolutely screaming from the 80-100m line on the charts, we’re thinking of heading out there and catching it all the way south. How far out did you guys travel? Cheers!
Yup that's where we were 100m contour. Have a look on the windy currents section as well it will tell you where it is right now. We're heading to Jervis today. Hope we can cross paths!

Very nice sailing, really enjoyed that, here in the UK it's vicarious sailing only at the moment, we're having some shocking weather.
