Syria at a Crossroad: What is really happening?

As we witness the Syrian rebels reclaim Aleppo and see Assad, Russia, Turkey, and the US scrambling to de-escalate the situation, we are reminded of 2011, when the Syrians firmly demanded the fall of the Assad regime to be replaced with a Khilafah. Their calls for complete change were met with Assad's brutal response, compounded by the interference of foreign actors, which derailed the revolution and led to the events we see today.
