Please! A close friend got popped bringing 8 kilos into Toronto. He was sentenced to 6 years, got full parole in 2. It's in America where somebody (usually Black or Latino) rots in prison for 20 years, just for selling grams.
My reaction to this documentary when I watched it in prison back in June of 2010 was: "Wow, Gary Sweet is an incredible actor!!" I mean, when (at 19:05) he said "celebrities, movie stars, politicians, high-profile businessmen" he knew, in the back of his mind, that his number was in that phone; that he'd been in that "blue Mercedes"; and that he'd bought coke directly from me. Yet, he managed to keep a straight face throughout the whole documentary while making out I was bigger than Pablo Escobar. Truly, an incredible actor. One of Australia's all-time greats.
@ITubaUTuba : I served a chunk of my sentence - about 5 years - with a bloke called Big Daz (he was big and his name was Darren!!); Big Daz came in around the same time I did and got released around the same time I did. (he got caught with a shit load of assault rifles and explosives) We were both serving 9 years. I remember when we had served 4 and a half years we were high fiving each other; celebrating that we'd done half. Then we slumped into a depression thinking "Fuck, we've got the same to go AGAIN!!" I note that some of the comments make fun of how "light" my sentence was; but let me tell you, 9 years was tough.
You know I think as I see the end of this maybe prison was a cure for the craving for money and substance? Seeing your family like that and all and being sepersted for so long. I think if what you say is true maybe they were worried about you. The country of Australia seems to have made a huge deal here. Interesting.
Don't understand people saying he's not a drug lord 'cos he's delivering grams, seems like he had a good plan but it was blown when they found out about the second apartment... If you've got $1 million and 5 k's kept hidden with no connection to you and you get caught dealing 10 grams, sod it, out in a year and you've got all that to come back to. Plus, less people involved less chance of rats/thieves.

FYI: His aunt was the actual kingpin. Here's the whole movie plot condensed into a few sentences. He got hooked on coke, tried to hide it, his aunt spotted an opportunity, and he became the "go-to" guy for every coke friend/fiend and opportunist he's ever encountered. She gave him a free "get well bag"(well, she directed him to where said bag could be attained) at an early point in his addiction, and from that point on she just dug her hooks in deeper and deeper.(if you don't know what a get well bag is or what it means to an addict, then you're most likely not understanding the majority of what I'm presenting, and about to present) This would account for the pre-weighs, the 2nd home miss, and the obvious differing in methods of operations between the two. All things that are all crucially relevant to this narrative, but weren't addressed at all(in this installment) If you're educated in this area and are still able to follow what I'm saying, then you're probably already thinking of reasons this might be the case. It is absolutely UNBELIEVABLE that he had THAT much cash on him and THAT much coke on him and he was selling ALL of it in grams. Do you have any idea how long it would take to sell all that coke if you were simply selling it to users a gram at a time? It would take forever! He literally had enough coke to last him for years for that kind of operation. And I don't believe he was doing large amounts to other dealers so he was not a kingpin, he was just a very smart businessman. The biggest mistake he made was letting ANYONE know about his safe house. If you are in his position, doing all that, you don't tell ANYONE about your safe house, let alone where it is or anything. I think the guy in the white Astra that just turned up instead of Buttrose was the guy the undercover said he knew...he turned up, didn’t know him and told Buttrose....back to it....
He probably thought he was under surveillance, and right-fully so. Maybe he should have got a trusted friend to clean the apartment but who could you trust with that amount of cold cash and drugs. He was running a nice little operation and was organised in how he kept his stash, it gave me OCD vibes. He didn't want anyone messing it up. He just got sloppy by selling to people directly. He got bored and wanted to feel the thrill
Dragon800 Shouldn't have been a shitbag drug dealer, especially having the drugs in the house where his 2 year old child is. It'd be better for those kids to grow up with a man who actually works a real job for money, not grow up with a piece of shit who deals drugs
Dragon800 No it doesn’t, he should’ve thought about that before making the decision to travel to Peru and purchase several kilos of cocaine. That kid must be proud of him.
That’s why cartels love Australia. Cocaine is ridiculously expensive. In fact, even in the 1990s it was 200 a gram, because ever since Sydney was an R&R base for US troops in Vietnam the main drug here was China White Heroin (the very best in the world) and now like everywhere it’s goddam Ice.
War on drugs, what a waste of time, all these police hours wasted. I know exactly what is going through that dealers head. He came from a privileged background and just wanted to give his kids the same oppportunites he had growing up
There wouldn't be enough money to be made on 'drugs' for any underworld if the War On Drugs didn't cause those prices to become so high be cause of the risk and the increased scarcity of product be cause of all they destroy they burn, which again would mean that people getting hooked wouldn't lose their shirt and with it the ability to live anywhere near a normal life, or would be normal market economics I think. Or is all that just lies & am I the only one getting ripped off ?!
I'll put money on the fact that a certain DS SWEENEY has been in to the evidence locker again and is doing some of his "follow up" work on the Buttrose case....The black eyed peas on the bloke :).

He was just a business man, not hurting anyone or doing any violent crimes. These customers were consenting individuals. I will never understand the war on drugs. If people wanna ruin their lives let them, as long as they aren't hurting anyone but themselves I don't see a problem with it imo

But the reason for drug laws is to protect citizens from harm. Who was Mr. Buttrose harming? Who was getting hurt by his little business? And who did get hurt while dozens of officers were chasing Mr. Buttrose for 6 months?

That is just my 2 cents worth. And it's probably not worth the 2 cents.
Hello, I'm probably the last so called person that anyone reading this who has anything to do with making these shows on druglords and other good stuff would or should be paying attention to. That being said, it would be great to see a series on Canadian druglords. I can't think of a single name of a Canadian dl, not one, but there most definitely is a good shitload of them. There's tons of crazy psychopathic killers in Canada, weird maniacs, but again no drug lords.
I feel bad for Richard Buttrose. He was a super organized and smart business man, educated obviously but maybe he's doing what he was taught, to find a profitable as fuck pure product and cut the crap out of it to double or triple their profit , then market it as fast and frequently as possible. Too bad he didn't get out of the game before they caught him, he had millions and he could have taken the rest of the blow with him to throw some crazy parties and such. I thought the sentence was harsh, he wasn't in a gang or violent causing drama with the city, he was a family man, and I couldn't believe they didn't let him be with his wife to give birth to their child. Rapists and necrophiliac pedophiles get slaps on the wrists compared to Buttroses sentence! Australian laws are fucked and so are Canadian laws. Anyways...Hooray for Buttrose!!!
Cock Jones drug laws are fucked up when it comes to most of the world tbh, they needa chill out with this stupid war on drugs and decriminalize it. Maybe confiscate whatever a dealer has on them if they're pulled over and caught and if a customer is cause with some send them to a drug program. And then just keep the criminal charges for the drug smugglers or even make the laws harsher on them so that it will make it harder to find people willing to smuggle drugs and that will help the problem
Very few that actually know how to run it right , But the profit margin so high , hard to lose , that international racing meet n greets opens up wide contacts
Formula 1 used to hold their first GP of the year in Brazil, Bernie the Midget had arranged a deal that none of the F1 entourage would ever get searched leaving South America or re-entering Europe. raptorms773 rich ppl pay more for drugs because they only have one source and want to minimize risk 😂
Plot twist: this is only a semi successful drug empire.
37:15 dude looks like he got into that Coke, lies or nah?
Buttrose? Might as well be Cornhole... 😂
you would clean that apartment out as soon as you got bail yeah/?
he wasnt the smartest clearly, he should have stopped after his 1st mill too.
Exactly
@@nrichards7564 stopped after his 1st mil , yer right, once you earn that much, you will never go back to earning a salary lol
As soon as I could make a safe phone call that place would have been empty.
He said wait how do we know you anyway?? 😂😂😂
ya because it really helps pulling a father from his family for 12 years! And it made no difference his place was filled the next day.
That kid must be proud of him.
reason, and i bet youve never ever made any mistakes in life have you?
Dragon800 Like taking the decision to go to Peru to purchase several kilos of cocaine at the age of 35? No I haven’t.
well then shit, I guess your just perfect then. congrats.
And 2021 happens to be the year am watching this
In what world is a kilo worth over a million dollars?!
These cops are delusional
at 250 a gram...with cut and all easily 1m.
What a joke! 12 years? Is that it?
With that sentence, you are not going to deter anyone from selling drugs.
"His wife is gonna find out he is a drug dealer".... Like she did not know. 🙄
Richard Buttrose was released in 2017, he served 8 years.
What a Legend of a man too sad to see all good things come to an end.
Well I'll "thumbs up" that; for sure!!
Richard Buttrose Of corse man who wouldn’t want to be him just to avoid getting caught of course and going to jail.
@@Nick-1992-SRB .... and learning how to spell; of course.
Richard Buttrose Yeah you just learned me of course 😂
Don't worry about editing the other one; I think I know what you mean.
"Seeing the container full of cocaine was exactly what I wanted to see"
I fuckin bet it was 😂
War on drugs, what a waste of time, all these police hours wasted. I know exactly what is going through that dealers head. He came from a privileged background and just wanted to give his kids the same oppportunites he had growing up
Dave Jenvey Agreed.
Dave Jenvey ب
and an addict
Lmao at 37:07 that cop is for sure dipping into the bags. Look at his eyes 😂
😳
Haha
I'll put money on the fact that a certain DS SWEENEY has been in to the evidence locker again and is doing some of his "follow up" work on the Buttrose case....The black eyed peas on the bloke :).
IRISHSTUBIE WOW!! Sweeney's eyes were bugged out, he certainly looks as if he has been 'studying the evidence'
IRISHSTUBIE 😂 he did look *WIRED*
Pinnned to fuck
IRISHSTUBIE which one is he? The one with the mustache and a maroon tie? I wasn't paying attention to how people looked. Nvm just as I was typing that last sentence he came on again and they showed his name. Lmao I was right, true he does look wired af lmao his eyes 😂 with how much he had im sure they won't realize a kilo or two being gone 🙄 tbh I wish he hadn't gotten caught, like let people live. He was just a business man, not hurting anyone or doing any violent crimes. These customers were consenting individuals. I will never understand the war on drugs. If people wanna ruin their lives let them, as long as they aren't hurting anyone but themselves I don't see a problem with it imo
Bambi c: Well put, my sentiment's exactly. Typical hypocritical liar's, show me a police force that does not have corruption stemming to it's rotten core and i'll show some more liar's. And bang on with your guess..that's him :). He is off his face! it's his initial seen it think @27:53.
20:00 , as if she didn't already know he was a Cocaine dealer LMAO!
that end remark
is that like to assume druglords are watching your videos that live in Australia lmfao
#deadAF #dadAF
And we all know what's short for Richard. Poor guy what an awful name
"Drug lord " ? ? How's about small time drug dealer!!!! El Chapo Guzman was a Drug lord!!!!
so i just watched a 40 minute apartment search video, awesome... very awesome
Did he say $250 a gram , must some kind of new super coke
Joseph Lubera nah that's just what u pay for a g off a street dealer in Australia ( rural areas even more)
Costs a lot to get here no land boarder crossings bit obvi 8 balls , halves, oz etc cheaper
sucks to be you
mo johnson nah were fine with having a peaceful state where it is very hard to obtain hard drugs.
If you can't afford $250 than you don't have any business playing around with narcotics
Should clarify that the state I meant is Tasmania which us even.harder and more expensive than $250
It’s $400/gram these days.
The cops texting a drug dealer...
Who would of thought
Serves him right, charging those prices.
3:50 that detective is on some extra extra if ya get my drift hahaha
At first I'm like "do they know what a kingpin is" but once the get to dudes second apartment I realized that yea, this dude is moving alot of coke.
Kingpin delivering 11 grams by himself? YEAH PROPER FUCKING COCAINE KING!
Hardly a drug lord. A small time dealer. What a waste of time. All those operatives to bust a sloppy rich kid.
8 million all told
2500$? For 11 grams of cocain? Wow shits expensive out there lol 250$ a gram he should have already know it was a cop at that price 😂
11 grams worth 2500.. lol .. he's taxing the rich folks
Detective Sargent Stewart Sweeney 3:54 looks ramped up to his eyeballs, they're nearly popping out of his head. No offence, just made me laugh.
This looks like more ov a running boy, then Drug Lord
a running boy with over a million in cash and 5k coke?
@@ggurks some runners don’t get to hold everything you do know that?
They make it sound like they have done some wonderful thing that is going to save the world but all they did was wreck a family.
🤷♂️
@@richardbuttrose5268 Are you the Richard Buttrose from this video?
@@MrBuzzzzz Yep
@@richardbuttrose5268 Wow, it is a pleasure to meet you. Many may think I am a scumbag because I am not hating on you but trust me, I am not a judgmental guy at all. I would absolutely love an opportunity to speak with you. It would mean the world to me if you could do that. Is it possible?
@@MrBuzzzzz What about??
12 years....thats not justice.... thats a gift!
They have no proof the money in the apartment was from cocaine and had no right to confiscate that
Druglord selling grams!! Lol
el chapo - now there's a drug lord...
IN MY COUNTRY HED BE KNOWN AS A STREET DEALER. MINOR FISH.
do street dealers have 10 million dollars worth of drugs ?
You must be so proud ...
Thats it!! Im quitting my job, im going to be a dealer when i grow up!! Look at that cash!!! 😍😍😍
His wife new nothing? she would have been knees deep in his little operation and enjoying the benefits..
100% correct - but proving it would be impossible.
But the reason for drug laws is to protect citizens from harm. Who was Mr. Buttrose harming? Who was getting hurt by his little business? And who did get hurt while dozens of officers were chasing Mr. Buttrose for 6 months?
Kevin - have you never seen the Hell that the Families of Drug Addicts go through? Who was he harming? He was harming thousands of Wives, Mothers and Children. My Wife is an addict - and I cannot even begin to explain how much pain and destruction she has caused to me and the Kids over the Past 10 Years. Buttrose was speading Heartache for Millions - You have absolutely no idea.
@@cosmos8970 You are right I don't know your pain. And I wouldn't want to go through that. My apologies if I came of cold-hearted. Objectively I do think drugs are a demand problem not a supply problem. So if we are really serious about fixing the problem that clearly exists that is where we should put our efforts. That is just my 2 cents worth. And it's probably not worth the 2 cents.
Did he say 250/g wtffffff. Ima start selling over there
hmmmmmm?
my mum told me when I was five, dont put all ya pennys in 1 spot,lol...Richard wait and one day dig up the rest ...
Buttrose. Hee hee.
I was gonna say "huhuhuh huhuh, hey Beavis, this guy's named BUTTrose huhuhuh". You kind of beat me to it.
Danny G lmfao!
A lot of people seemed to know, I think one of the F1 drivers' wives publicly mentioned that she saw evidence of this. Bernie seemed to get very rich around the same time.
Crappiest show ever. I've personally known people who sold More then this guy. It was no big deal at all. Didn't know you could get a show for such small time amounts
Are you a gangster?
Joshi - you're a keyboard warrior right? 🤣
2500$ for 10 bags? Any addicts here I suggest you get yourself to England you get almost 2oz for that 😂😂😂
