  • This video with detailed steps will show you how to change your starter even if you have minimal skills in mechanics. You can feel free to ask any questions or share your experience in the comments below. If you have a check engine light after changing the starter, you probably forgot to connect something. I know I did. In fact I made a video on it. You may need someone at an autoparts store or a code reader to reset the light after changing the starter.
    13:39. You might need a cheater bar, stubby impact wrench, or big ass breaker bar to break this bolt. Maybe a propane torch.

    Nice job! You made me realize I'd rather pay a mechanic to do this because it would take me ALL day and I would have to mark EVERYTHING to know where it went when it's time to put everything back in place.

    One thing that gave me a lot of room was to remove a T shaped section of the radiator support. It was easy (after removing the under-bumper shield) and made pulling the manifold simple.

    Thank you for this! My Mom’s CRV just took a dump in the mall parking lot. I’m hoping I’ll be able to get it to start one last time so I don’t have to change it at the mall lol. This video will be very helpful when I start working on it

    To avoid the antifreeze issue and to make it easier to get the manifold out, I drained the radiator, and disconnected the upper radiator hose from the block. also removed the battery and the air filter housing. Manifold came out easily. Also, replaced the bypass hose while it was apart.

    another thing, you don't need to completely remove the intake, just slide it to the drive side of the car once you remove all the hoses and throttle body. save yourself some time. also helps to remove the battery giving yourself more room to get to the plugs and hoses

    Firstly, I removed the battery and air box because, I'm testing the automatic transmission shifting solenoids and might change them. My dilemma is the nuts holding the intake a very rusted. It started to "round off", even soaked in penetrating oil. Is it risky to chisel them out ? Is there another way to access the starter ?

    I remember when my starter was going bad, I just managed to get my CRV home from a shopping centre. The next day at home it wouldn't start at all, just clicks.

    As for most car repairs even the easiest of them like on a Honda or Toyota, theres gonna be speed bumps. Biggest speed bump on here is getting the intake manifold out of there and outta the way lol. With that being said I bet this process is 2x easier than trying to replace your knock sensor. With that being said if you replace your starter with this video you might as well replace the knock sensor as well while your there, SO REPLACE YOUR KNOCK SENSOR WHILE YOUR THERE. Doing it from underneath is a bitch if you dont have mad skill with Intricate parts

  • @Celeste300
    @Celeste300 8 місяців тому

    Don't start disassembling the manifold, throttle body and other stuff from the top, just install the starter from underneath. It's much easier, much quicker and much less risky.

    I have a question my mom has the same fever 2002 while she was driving and out of no where it started sputter. I told her to park it at home and not to drive it. And I checked the code it has p0300 p0301 p03004 misfire ode. And now it doesn’t want to start. Sound like dead battery but the battery is new. You think it’s a starter? And will that cause the misfire code?

    • @rickyadames7714
      @rickyadames7714  5 років тому

      The first thing you need to do is this. If you have a voltmeter, check the battery voltage. tell me what the voltage of the battery is. If it is under 12.4 and u didnt crank it alot trying to start it up I would immediately suspect the alternator has gone out. The alternator can cause misfires if it goes bad. Bad alternators can also cause batteries to go bad. Did the red battery light come on?

    • @allgasnobrakes1665
      @allgasnobrakes1665 5 років тому

      Ricky Adames no the battery light didn’t come on. She told me while it was sputtering the check engine light came on. I took the battery back the same place where we bought it from ( orilyes ). And they said the battery is good. Yea I was thinking it’s either the alternator or starter

      You dont have a voltmeter? If u dont u can remove the battery and take it to o reillys and have then have them test it and charge it.. If it's completely dead and ur battery cables and everything were connected good and the car starts and runs great for several minutes before being bad again it is ur alternator. And the alternator looks like it is a pain in the ass to replace. But maybe notit's not. Maybe it can be replaced through the wheel well. I'm not sure though

    • @rickyadames7714
      @rickyadames7714  5 років тому

      @@allgasnobrakes1665
      Also. The starter wont cause misfires. Think clogged fuel injectors or fuel pump or bad gas or alternator. Does the crv have a battery light? If it doesn't then that might explain the check engine. I really hope it's not the alternator. That thing is buried deep
