Lol. You should measure your accomplishments against your own capabilities, not against anyone else's abilities. Especially not against genetic freaks like pro hockey players.
This drives me nuts sometimes. Just because a player is a star does not necessarily mean he will make a good Captain. Putting pucks in the net is a lot different than having great people skills and leadership ability
There have been great Captains who were superstars, but also there have been guys may not have been, but were by far the best leaders. Like George Armstrong for the Leafs in the 1960s, or Alex Delvecchio in Detroit in the 60s, both of those players were great players, but they weren't the Superstar on their team. For Armstrong, Dave Keon and Frank Mahovlich were the Superstars up front and Tim Horton on the back end. Delvecchio was more of a star, but Gordie Howe who was arguably the greatest player to ever play the game (I can see arguments for Orr also). Even Bobby Orr, the greatest defenseman to ever play the game, was not the captain of his team, it was Johnny Bucyk, who was definitely the most deserving. This whole idea that the best player must be the captain is ludicrous.
Plus, one of the main reasons the Blackhawks sucked last year was the Bedard refused to play a responsible game, and got the most shifts of almost any forward in the league. The Blackhawks were always playing short-handed.
@WFM I do think, though, in some years down the road, we'll see Bedard with an 'A' on his sweater, kinda like Kaner. As for a 'C', well...we'll see if he's got those kind of leadership chops, he'd have to be as much a leader as Foligno to be there.
I completely agree. If the Hawks are gonna choose a Captain this year, it should be Foligno, it is WAY too early for Bedard for the simple reason is that I don't see Bedard able to fire a locker room up or get the attention of everyone in said locker room when they're crapping the bed, Foligno would.
I have this weird feeling that Hawks r gonna have the same kinda season the Flyers did last season. Ppl predict them to finish bottom 10% but they'll find themselves playing meaningful games in April.
I hope so because if they play meaningful games and are still in the hunt for a spot in the playoffs. One good stretch of games can determine the hawks chances of making it to the wild card. NHL is unpredictable

I mean think about how those jokes affect him and his family and even perry's family i mean perry is happily married with kids. If these dumb jokes keep happening, it can be considered defamation to some and also his wife might start to question the reality of this. Even the littlest jokes can possibly cause irreparable damage to relationships. Jokes like this is exactly why I have started to lose love for the game in recent times. Just very disappointing that morons like that have to ruin it. I am all up for a good joke but not if it is about people's family and close friends.
more interesting than last year? Sure. They're still crap though.
