The day he died, I explored around websites viewing comments, usually when celebrities die, people usually troll or have dislikes against them. Harry Morgan had nothing but compliments and love from people. Shows how much he touched people, and left nothing bad behind. Thank you Harry. You were amazing.
I loved how Colonel Potter could be firm, but kind. Everyone loved him, except Major Burns. One of my favorite lines was "I'd watch that dimwit talk, Burns, your bulb's been out since I met you!" Potter was awesome. RIP Harry Morgan, our beloved Col. Potter!
I loved Col. Potter. Col. Potter was the kind of man that most people would want as a father, friend, or commanding officer. He was strict, but he also had good common sense, and he cared people.
Dear Mr Morgan, it is sometimes difficult for us the public to disassociate the human being from the part that is played by an actor. But in saying that, you, the human being, made the role of Col Potter who he was. And it wasn't hard to see the real you reflecting through. It was your heart that was shining brightly, not Col Potters. God Bless you for what you shared with us. May you Continue to shine in Gods divine grace. Be at rest, be at peace, we will always miss you, down here..........
You were a large part of my TV viewing life, Harry. I knew you fondly from Dragnet, long before MASH, and was delighted when you joined the later cast. Thanks for all you gave us in the spirit of entertainment...
I Have the entire M*A*S*H collection, the episodes really get good when Harry Morgan enters the cast! I can't stop watching, and now have watched the whole thing 3-4 times!
Love him! Colonel Potter was always my favorite character because of Harry Morgan. My favorite seasons where the ones with Harry Morgan. God bless him.
He totally did projected the fatherly or grandfatherly figure (depending on your age) well. I'm only 25 and I still love MASH! I remember my dad saying that even in his day when the show aired Col. Potter was considered old :) God Bless you Harry Morgen.
Even though I will personally always prefer McLean Stevenson as Col.Henry Blake,Harry Morgan did come in as his replacement in 1975 and brought Colonel Sherman Potter to life. Not only that, but he put his own stamp on the M*A*S*H legacy.
Colonel Potter/ Harry Morgan was my T.V. Grandpa and Col. Very good character. He taught me a lot as well as the other actors/characters on MASH on how to conduct yourself as a leader. Hawkeye and company really responded to his leadership. And I know the scripts where intended to allow Porter to teach lessons in life. yeah soon most of the cast members of MASH will pass away. BUT never forgotten
Harry Morgan was born in 1915. His film and television career began in 1942 with the US Marines propaganda film "To the Shores Of Tripoli", and has since spanned almost 60 years and over 125 movies and around 50 different tv shows. He is currently the oldest living male actor in the world, at the age of 96.
how short was he? - answer : a short man - see MASH - some angles tell the story : [yes he was 68 when the series ended - so : shrinking and Farrel and Alda were tall] - BUT we never noticed he was of short stature because the man was a TOWER!
The best show ever.I liked this guy.I have his picture as an avatar on a web site i use.I have series on dvd, they never grow old.thank you,All of you for the laughs the memories and the tears.Riding away on that horse, after being saluted ,well it just broke me,it was like saying goodbye to real friends.
Oh boy. This makes me really sad. This is the first modern video I've ever seen of him, because I purposely avoided them knowing I'd be upset. I grew up watching M*A*S*H and Dragnet and I love and miss this man.
I always found it amusing that Harry Morgan's two most iconic TV roles were on the ultraconservative DRAGNET and the ultraliberal MASH. Now that's RANGE, albeit of a different sort. One of the great character actors, and you just got to love that bullhorn voice of his. RIP Harry.
Mr Morgan I`d like to tell you that you resembled my pop so much he could`nt watch the show he seen himself , He served too about same age you look more like him now .
An excellent character in MASH...have a listen to the song 'In the jailhouse now' from 'Man of constant sorrow' ...the singer has this mans voice...he could mime to the song and no one would belive otherwise I'm sure.
Sad to hear of his passing. I wasn't happy when I heard he had been involved in a some domestic assault issues, but I'm still sad to hear of his passing.
The most part of Morgan as Col Sherman Poter that i cant forget when he uses the tinted black on the binocular......both his eyes were tinted black too !!!! LOL surely he was played fool by his subordinates...!

Harry Morgan
April 10, 1915 - December 7, 2011
Col. Potter was the kind of Commanding Officer that I would've love to have had in Viet Nam. Strict but with a brain.
RIP Henry Morgan.....you will be greatly missed........
Loved Potter loved Blake too though two very different but both enjoyable characters

Gonna Miss ya! Was sad to hear of his passing :(
Given Harry Morgan's long, long career in TV, it is fair to say that his opinions have value. Not just BS from actors.
Rip my prayers go out to his family
