- IN THIS VIDEO:
Hello everyone! Welcome to this video!
For the third year running, I am once again very fortunate to have been granted access to the NAV Canada Air Traffic Control Tower at Toronto Pearson Int'l for some airshow action at this years Canadian International Air Show.
This years show had everyone stage out of Toronto Pearson Int'l including all the prop aircraft so you will see some of them too.
Action kicks off with the RAF Red Arrows taking off on RWY 15L with red, white and blue into the show followed by their Airbus A400M Atlas. Then, Waterloo Warbirds and their MiG-15 with Richard Cooper at the controls departs RWY 15L with an amazing flyby the Tower. The Red Arrows then returned for an iconic 'spaghetti break' over the field before they landed which is one of the coolest things I've ever seen at Pearson. The MiG-15 also returned landing on RWY 05 as it was hangared out of the North End while everyone else landed on RWY 06L.
Then, the RCAF CF-18 Hornet as 'ALLOUETTE 01' took off and returned giving us two flyby's before landing. Then, the RCAF CH-148 Cyclone came by close to say hello on departure and arrival when 'HAWGG 01 and 02' departed as the flight of two US ANG A-10 Warthog's. Right before the CF Snowbirds took flight, the Beechcraft 3NM Expeditor pulled some loops around the cab and landed on RWY 06L.
The two A-10's came at eye level by the Tower with some amazing sound with them. Glad those controllers told them "when you come by we'd like to be looking down on you'" ;) Anyways, after the -10's recovered, the Snowbirds returned for an overhead loop and recover on RWY 06L followed by the A400M from the RAF that went to do some circuits at North Bay and returned for a RWY 05 landing. Enjoy the video everyone!
Cheers,
Ernest G.

Awesome camera work! I love that there was no heavy metal music track, only aircraft audio! Only missing the smell of kerosene!
Thanks! Oh there was but this is the airport where the performers take off from, the show is actually over the Lake Ontario waterfront several clicks away.
9:28 "Tower this is ghostrider requesting a fly-by!"
Negative Ghostrider, the pattern is full
Love it. Hahah. We were all talking about in the Tower :)
Negative Ghostrider , The pattern is full !
Amazing videos! I love to go watch planes on weekends after a breakfast at Zets. I didn’t do so on airshow weekend, was otherwise occupied. I so regret it. My grandfather worked at Orenda engines around the time of the Arrow, then went on to McDonell-Douglas. We used to go down to the airport and pick him up from work on Fridays as he didn’t drive a car. We always visited Zets or another diner on Derry Rd at the end of the runway to watch planes. I have the app for the ATC at Pearson, great stuff. Hooters patio is a good place to watch planes. As is the Best Western hotel roof, with a bit of a drink from the hotel bar, lol. But your videos are amazing! Thanks for them!
Thanks a lot! Can’t go wrong with Zets ;)
Awesome as always Ernest!! Makes my day!
Thanks!
Now this is a view and a half! Great video once again Ernest! Thanks for sharing with all of us!
Thanks a lot Jason!
All of these aircraft are all weather capable . Thank you .v
Correct.
8:33 - 8:44 : you cn hear three "bleeps". I remember from my active times that I recorded military jets on different bases using my Hi-8 camcorder. When you recorded you could not hear that sound. It was only audible when you ran the playback on your VCR. At first I was wondering where the strange noise came from until somebody told me. It came from the bases radar. Good memories :)
Yup. Base radar. Gets me every time I film in the vicinity of one lol.
Thank you for the beautiful recording.
Cheers Jerry!
Excellent !
Thanks!
I just laughed my ass off at my girlfriend, this is what she said "Those little red jets are so cute, I wish I could walk up to them and squeeze their little red cheeks". I literally almost passed out from laughter. I will never ask her what she thinks of any other plane. Few weeks ago she came back from work all excited that she seen a huge plane landing that had a camel hump on top, I just guessed she must have seen her first 747. 😂
LOL. That’s funny. Most likely the 747. Wonder what she’ll say to an A380 😂
This video came up and the air show here in London Ontario just started 20 minutes ago. They keep flying over my house. It comes in handy living near the airport sometimes. I'm glad that it wasn't cancelled this year due to COVID.
Nice! Same. I’ve got my kudos to all the organizers for putting on a show in these difficult times.
17:28 As Canadian im obligated to love the snowbirds, but GOD DAM THAT A10 SOUND!!! goosebumps!!!!
Oh 100%. The sound was amazing!
That A400 could take off from one of the connecting taxiways if it wanted to
Hahaha indeed ;)
I remember watching the Canadian National Exhibition at the Toronto Island Airport back in the 70's
Yo i almost crashed my car because of the red arrows on the 401 🤣🤣
LOL. Almost been in your position. Had a few close calls before.
These guys are having too much fun in a 4k quality ultra realistic FSX game.
Fantastic video man! Liked!
Thanks a lot Jelmer!
Amazing! 13:03 How the heck were granted access to ATC for this?
Thanks! Oh we specifically told them to come close ;) it’s part of ‘playing’.
Excellent 😎👍!
Thanks!
Tremendous job once again Ernest, way to go...
Thanks a lot!
Two place Mig -15 trainer
What a privilege to get tower access again! I can't come up with something to say, I am in awe of the view :D
Question: today I saw a 4-engine propeller aircraft on final to YOW that was the size of a C-5 Galaxy-- it was colossal. I have no clue what it was, and it was gone from the airport by the time I got there half an hour later. This thing was absolutely MASSIVE, but I was stumped. All the information I can provide is that it was an orange-reddish colour all around. And it had a cable hanging from its belly, like a Sky Crane helicopter
Cheers! I’m guessing it’s the CL415 Water Bomber. But that went to Gatineau. There are two of them going to the Aero Gatineau Airshow this weekend and one of my buddies was out to catch them coming in.
@@ErnestGutschikAviation Nah, the water bombers are tiny, and only have two props. Whatever I saw was gigantic
@@canadianplanespotter CAVOK AIR AN-12 ??? This was in June though... twitter.com/TomPodolec/status/1139659028647350273
its too bad the f-18 did shit all at the air show
I poured concrete at that airport in Mississauga
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! Very nicely done Ernest. Extraordinary footage. Cheers, Ted
Thanks a lot Ted!
Incredible stuff this! LIKE
Thanks Elliot!
WOW! What a view! Awesome video and great job Ernest! Also funny I had the same chirp in some of my footage when I filmed at YVR
Thanks a lot! Best seat in the house ;)
Great footage! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks!
11:56, the best !!
Can’t go wrong with the A-10’s ;)
A big Thank You Ernest!!!!!!!! As allways terrific work on your part. Great footage. Much appreciated. Stay well my friend.
Thanks! Appreciate it.
Man... i just wish the Canadian government and people would put more money in armed forces... both hardware and healthcare care.. for veterans , active military and its citizens.. don't know why this video made me wanna say it but they should regardless
I'm former Canadian military we're well paid as far as militaries go in that department there's no complaints benefits included I wish procurement would streamline but as far as expanding we play our part we're not trying to be the States
Pablo Gonzalez how about after services like dealing with ptsd? I also meant relying less on u.s. Support for patrolling our borders , i work with a veteran and there are some complaints, but i guess its just like everything else, you can't make everyone happy. I also think it sucks they disbanded the airborne because of a few bad apples.. anyway.. thank you for your service
Agreed. We pledge in our anthem daily in schools to stand on guard for the country but with what? Outdated 40 year old aircraft, nary any subs that can do the job, and a smattering of aging Halifax class frigates. We're in the F-35 program so its seems to me absurd to not get a few even better suited would be an F-22 but unkie Sam won't export those to us. F-18s in the US NAvy are model E/F "Super hornets" you would think we would have procured some of those a decade back to grandfather our A models out of service.
Great video; superb filming. Felt like I was there; was not sadly.
Thanks! I was fortunate to be there, best seat in the house.
Pretty soon, that is where they only gonna be able to land #brexit Great video !!
Thanks!
Ahhh....it was great seeing our Snowbirds. Great video!
Thanks! Indeed!
Any list of aircraft?
Check the description ;)
@@ErnestGutschikAviation: I always forget about the description since it's hidden on my display, Thanks! ;-)
It’s all good ;)
So how does Pearson mange to accommodate an airshow yet a reasonable quite airport like Victoria YYJ can't.
It’s all part of the Airshow organization and who runs the show. However, as it stands, due to the increasing number of commercial traffic, Pearson might not be subject to hosting the show in the next few years to come.
Most them are once again thank you
Cyclone and A400.....just wow
We wanted the A400 to do a pass but sadly they didn’t. Cyclone was great ;)
The Red Arrows was the first. I believe .
Correct. They opened the show every day except Monday.
Great video! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks Daniel!
Amazing video. Many thanks.
Thanks a lot!
How do you get invited to the tower?
Connections ;)
Great documentation my friend!
Thanks Russell!
A great video....enjoyed...

@@david14116 Thank you . I used to go to the CNE airshow many years ago . I love the Hamilton airshow ,CWHM at Mount Hope , Hamilton Airport . Thank you .
Thank you!
Cheers!
Is this a tridion that they do
Yes. Every year the performers at the show “play around” on departure and arrival to the show by buzzing the Tower for the photographers up there and for the Tower controllers. Sure is one of the time fun times of the year, no doubt.
@@ErnestGutschikAviation but I thought they where not allowed surely they must stop departures a d arrivals for a few passes
Indeed, that’s exactly what happens.
Nice!!
Thanks Jay!
Nice Mig!
Indeed!
This is amazing
Thanks Matt!
My grandpa had a major PTSD blowout when he saw the Mig-15 flying he actually thought we were being invaded by Russia :( sometimes airshows are awesome sometimes they can do really more harm its a double edged sword.
Yeah, I’m sure that happened...
Great camera work. Reminds me of Airshow Mondays back in the day. Everyone needed to out do each other when departing. Per Ardua ad Astra.
Thanks!
A shocking display of air pollution and broken noise abatements!!!!!!! Well done
So are you!!!
Hahaha thanks my friend! It’s the only time we get to play around in the year ;)
