You did it with this one, but the biggest problem regarding footage is canon C200 RAW and R5 RAW. if you could always remember to include that in tests with Premiere Pro. That's often as extreme as you can go. And most people including me use that to determine the real power of the work station.

Dear Mr. TECH NOTICE. when editing Canon r5c raw video footage setting project to OpenCL instead of CUDA also engages IGPU on i7-13700K and i feel it edits much smoother from that moment on. i wish i knew this sooner :D and another thing when editing r5 RAW. plues there's more going on here. whenever you hit new file in timline CPU/GPU usage has a big jump and then it goes down for reminder of that file. im guessing some sort of debayering is going on everytime you hit a new file in timline. for a real world scenario with i7 13700k/4090 system you want to keep it 1/4 with openCL renderer. that gives the best result. p.s. canon raw is wonderful but peromance in premiere is abysmal.
1:33 you used 64GB DDR5 RAM 5200MT at CL40 , what would you except if some one uses 128 GB DDR4 3200MT CL 16 DDR4 RAM with 13900k . Will time line performance decrease or increase by using lots of low latency DDR4 RAM ? Will export Time reduce by using lots of high bandwidth DDR5 RAM ? By the way very gud video showing info like temps , power , clock speeds and i also salute to your hard work for using each and every kind of video files from 8bit 4.2.0 h.264 to all the way up to 8k 24FPS 10bit 4.2.0 H.265 . Now that RTX 4080/490 is out in market will you consider paring 13900k with one of them ? also please compare its playback to Mac studio ( that 20 core apple ultra chip ) if you can . 19:33 to 20:00 I am very happy to know that you got very smooth cpu , knowing this i also want to upgrade to 13900k from my 9900k .
Can you please 2 or 3x speed going backward in the timeline. Editors go both directions when cutting and moving backwards is where the computers struggle.
For the RED footage, your NVIDIA GPU is doing the decode and debayer so it's not really a test of the iGPU. The compression level for the RED and Braw also matters. I've never shot Canon RAW so I can't speak to that codec.
If you're considering the 7950x, i've been having issues with TrueNAS and the BIOS. TrueNAS does not seem to support the iGPU for anything other than video out, where as older APUs could pass the GPU through to VMs/docker images
@@jessesmidt734 My intent, in addition to file server, is to docker plex and TDARR(otherwise everything would have worked fine with a 12100 or 5600G) Use the CPU+iGPU for plex TV recordings and the iGPU for playback, but then for long term storage use the imense CPU power to use automated software transcoding with TDARR to go from the broadcast MPEG2(up to 6GB/hour) to H265/AV1(as little as 300MB/hr for the same visual quality, yes even 576p TV shows from the 60s have massive bitrates and still looks like crap). I'd throw in a dedicated GPU, but i need all of the slots for TV tuners, SAS controller, and high speed network, i have no free slots. IF you are wondering, i tried EVERY hardware transcoder out there, from 9th gen Nvidia/Vega56 and 6th gen Intel, all the way up to 12th gen Intel, RDNA2, VEGA2.5(Ryzen 7 4750GE with improved 2nd gen vega) Nvidia Ampere, and even Apple M1 Video Toolbox. All of them create files larger than the original, or reduce the quality. I have yet to be able to get my hands on Intel Arc or Nvidia Lovelace as i'd love to see if the problem is limited to only going from MPEG2 to H265, as it would be utterly amazing if i could get the same compression and quality, out of the iGPU if it just required AV1 instead of H265
Great tests, thanks a lot! BUT: simple video playback with hadware accelerated effects applied (yellow bar in timeline) do not really give the cpu a hard task. can someone tell me how this cpu perfomrs with cpu heavy effects applied?
Great Day hope all is well. I'm wonder how to you have your premiere setup. I have the i9 13900 with the 4090 and my CPU goes to dang near %100 but the GPU is not being used during normal playback. I'm editing 8K VR footage from the R5. I'm wondering does some footage not engage the GPU? Did you change any graphic card or bio settings? I see yours is using the IGPU and GPU.
I find Pr is prioritize CPU. CPU is more important. As I just build my PC. I have 13900k same as you. But only 32g ddr4 ram and 3060ti. I find I have similar performance. I do not see really any worse performance on my PC. For example I can play smoothly R5 raw at 1/2 resolution but very choppy at full res just like what you had.
I don't think Windows 7 or older versions of Linux are going to know how to use a weird L shapped designed processor with unequal p-cores and e-cores.... Somethign back then was just so bizarre it was unconcievable. That's the biggest problem with these weird assymetrical processors. If you're wondering why not jsut run Windows 10 or 11, then you're probably not a power user.
man is that whokey thing legit?? I gave it a try and even used your code, but the more I look into their website and the way they repplied to a simple question and then stopped replying at all, idk... just did it cuz needed to do another win11 install as it didn't let me boot with the 13900k, only one change, same drives, same motherboard, ram etc. just the cpu and even after installing all the drivers and contacting intel, microsoft etc. clean instal was the only solution 🤦♂ my previous key was an oem win 10 pro included on my system
AMD Radeon Team doesn't care for productivity users, that's why their iGPUs are mainly great for gaming and kind of useless for production workloads. I'm a laptop guy, and I always prefer Ryzen + Nvidia configs for the best of both worlds. Intel has come a long way with Alderlake, but their power scaling doesn't suit laptop form factor (too much performance loss at low TDPs and too much battery drain otherwise).
For my use case the RAM capacity matters more than speed. Unfortunately there's no 128gb ddr5 that I could find right now. So I'm running a strange system with 128gb 3200mhz cl16 with a 13900k and a tuf 3080 10gb 🤷
I see all these tests about smooth timeline performance in Premiere on windows pc or mac and I am really reluctant. I'm currently editing 50fps Sony A7sIII 4K H.265 4.2.0 footage (paired with a few drone clips from dji air2s) on a pc with 9th gen i9, GTX 1080ti, 64GB ddr4 ram using adobe premiere. Because of the abscence of dedicated decoders to play footage smoothly I have to use proxies to edit. Although playback is ultra smooth initially, as soon as I add warp stabilize and lumetri color correction on the clips as well as two lut layers (slog3 to rec709 transform and color look lut), which is a real world day to day editing scenario for me, the timeline is not playing back smoothly anymore not even in 1/2 resolution. I'm editing on the internal nvme ssd. So it is a struggle to even view my edit before exporting. I'm editing on the internal nvme ssd.I'm editing on the internal nvme ssd. Even if my pc build is only 1.5 year old I'm in the market for a new machine that can make my life easier. I'd like to be able to have smooth timeline performance with the above effects and possibly edit without proxies. I am considering either a mac studio/macbook pro or a windows pc. Whatever gets the job done. Do you think that a 13th gen cpu paired with an rtx 3090 will work? Both for editing native files without proxies and for smooth playback after adding gpu taxing effects such as warp stabilize and lumetri color. Thanks a lot in advance.
How do i utilize the iGPU? I have the 13900k but its not using it in premiere. Ive enalbed it in bios, but its using 0% atm. do I keep it on Cuda mode in premiere? Thank you for the video!
Are you creating proxies for all these clips? I have a 4090 with 13900k 64gb ddr5 ram and still experiencing super choppy playback footage on 4k 60fps footage. Only runs smooth if I use proxies but such a hassle haha

Don't buy if you live in a hot country.
Finally the video is here Boys 🤩🤩🔥🔥
For the RED footage, your NVIDIA GPU is doing the decode and debayer so it's not really a test of the iGPU. The compression level for the RED and Braw also matters. I've never shot Canon RAW so I can't speak to that codec.
nice video again! can you please also include davinci resolve studio in your tests? lots of people nowadays use davinci! Thanks a lot :)
If you're considering the 7950x, i've been having issues with TrueNAS and the BIOS. TrueNAS does not seem to support the iGPU for anything other than video out, where as older APUs could pass the GPU through to VMs/docker images
Im pretty sure they will be patching that soon. If i may ask, what are you using a 7950x on a truenas system for?
@@jessesmidt734 My intent, in addition to file server, is to docker plex and TDARR(otherwise everything would have worked fine with a 12100 or 5600G)
Use the CPU+iGPU for plex TV recordings and the iGPU for playback, but then for long term storage use the imense CPU power to use automated software transcoding with TDARR to go from the broadcast MPEG2(up to 6GB/hour) to H265/AV1(as little as 300MB/hr for the same visual quality, yes even 576p TV shows from the 60s have massive bitrates and still looks like crap).
2 Decoders?? wo if you have a cross fade or a Picture in Picture both work simultaneously?
who don't let you to use 1/4?:)) I think in 1/4 or 1/8 works the 12 resolution like minecraft in low settings on i9
Great Day hope all is well.
Looks like no one can beat Adobe.
Who pays monthly or yearly hundreds of $$$ for a nightmarish software honestly....appart from UA-camr nerds and production corporates. Not interested.
Should have exported that video!
0:01 FOURTEEN 900K ?
what is difference between 13900k vs 13900KF
For my use case the RAM capacity matters more than speed. Unfortunately there's no 128gb ddr5 that I could find right now. So I'm running a strange system with 128gb 3200mhz cl16 with a 13900k and a tuf 3080 10gb 🤷
Just use crucial's basic ddr5 to get 128GB :)
Premiere supports 12K? I think its not the case.
Please do a Premiere Pro test with i9 14th gen
First🎉
Its on sale at amazon for $400😱
Intel gpus please
does anyone realize 5k/6k video thing, it's using software rendering, and not using iGPU's hardware acceleration (encoders/decorders).

👏👏👏👌👌👌👌 very very informative video for video editors .
Great job of showing
was GPU decode on for redcode? i know redcode works well with nvidia cards usually
First I would like to thank you very much. Second, we want a detailed review of the processor i7 13700k
Are you creating proxies for all these clips? I have a 4090 with 13900k 64gb ddr5 ram and still experiencing super choppy playback footage on 4k 60fps footage. Only runs smooth if I use proxies but such a hassle haha

PLS make a video on the new nuc-13-extreme-raptor-canyon-with-up-to-core-i9-13900k for Premiere pro... i am arguing if it gets to hot or if can be watercooled maybe? hmm
Lets test with 7950x😁
Need export times!....
check out my 13900k review, there's export scores there :)
Which build do you recommend with this CPU? I know you mentioned it in this UA-cam video, but I listened to that section of the multiple times and just couldn't understand it. Sorry I couldn't understand, my bad. By the way, thank you for putting out the finest UA-cam videos out there; just superb!
How can you see the frames dropped on premiere pro? Is there a setting to choose from? My screen only shows time and screen size ( fit... ).
