Established dentist here. I refuse to purchase my own practice because I agree with your brother - I can do without the headache of practice ownership. However, I am now planning on putting aside funds to explore real estate investing. Your videos are rather insightful. Happy I came across them.
Retired Solo pediatric dentist here. 1.1 million take home on $1,850,000 production, 42 percent overhead. Office 2,400 sq ft, 4 ops, worked 4 days a week. Never wanted to have multiple offices, increased overhead, increased liability, and didn’t want to babysit other Dentist. Everyone has their own set of skills and limitations. Best to keep inflow with what works for you. The problem with averages is that limits imagination. You can build anything you want. You can also practice how you want, hire other to things you do not want to do, aka the 0:30 headaches.
25 was in college for psychology now I’m in school to become a dental assistant and a future orthodontist! I literally love teeth and the thought of helping others. Definitely binge watching your videos through out school.
There is so much more variation than what you described. With full mouth implant surgery trends. If you are a competent efficient surgeon you can average 12k a day-take home as an independent contractor working no more than 6-8 hrs a day.
@moses-525 I agree. What I'm focusing in is the average. Don't forget about taxes, though. Unless you use the short-term rental tax loophole or file Real Estate Professional Status (check out my videos on each), you'll be paying ALOT of taxes 😉.
@@DebtFreeDoctorJeffAnzalone I hear you. Just saying with the emergence of all on 4 centers. Surgical associates can take home well over a million working three days a week as an independent contractor through my subchapter S corporation. This category of practices is causing the emergence of another category of dentists… more like super dentists!
For me it would be financial compensation, comfortable living, the gratitude of making a a patient feel better, being my own boss, medicine is my passion.
Initially I wanted to be a Physician assistant and still kind of do however I want a bigger financial ceiling, want to be my own boss. I am also 28yo and have a bachelors already. Is it worth it financially for that much debt?
U have to get into a US dental program for 2 years after getting a foreign dental accreditation and then after those 2 years u need to pass board exams. Will cost like $180K USD
Looking forward to becoming a dentist
