I am a Yoruba Man originally from the so called "No Man's Land" Our village is Ibeju Lekki village near eleko junction in Lekki, Lagos. Our family had been in the village for generations. I read with frustration from the UK when I hear Lagos being declared as No mans land? Let me ask those people who are calling other peoples land "No Mans Land" How would they feel if some new residents of their land declare their state No Mans Land? Yoruba's are the most accommodating tribe in Nigeria because we do not need to prove our status to anybody. I live in UK and am not threatened by new residents coming to Lagos and settle to make a living. As Yorubas, we do not need to flex or suggest to other tribes we are successful ... blah blah blah. Every tribe knows where they come from in Nigeria since they all have their own home land. So if you come to lagos and you do well for yourselves and family good for you. No need to insult your host by suggesting that their land is no Man's Land . If you start flexing like that then you are obviously asking for trouble with your host
Lagos was uninhabited until the Portuguese arrived and named it Lagos. If they were indigene when the Portuguese arrived, what was the original name because if it had original name before the Portuguese. What was the name?
How does paying tax in a place makes the place a no man’s land?I am happy with those interviewed it just showed that some people just want to cause wahala
Lagos is a yoruba land. It belongs to do yorubas. Everyone can claim lagos as his/her city, state of origin etc. But alwsys have it at the back of your mind, it is a yoruba land. Just because the UK is populated by hundreds of people from all over the world, doesn't make it a NO MANS LAND, it belongs to the English people.
Everyone cannot claim Lagos, you can say you reside in Lagos but you come from wherever. Those of us who are original Lagosians whether descent is from mother or father are the only ones that are Lagosians or can claim Lagos, Island, Badagry Epe, Ikorodu and those parts of Reno and Iperu that are in Lagos state .
The most important way to look at this question is to consider what is in the minds of the people pushing the narrative? When the indigenous people assert that Lagos is not a No-man's land, they're actually telling you that your tribe is not from there. However, when non-indigenous people tell you Lagos is a No-man's land, they're telling you that they have a stake in the economic development of Lagos in that they pay their taxes in Lagos and discharge their economic and civic responsibilities to the state. These are two different perspectives and should be argued accordingly. Without the Igbos and other foreigners Lagos will never be what it is today.
@JJ-wv3wy what do you mean by that? Yorubaland is Yorubaland and when you sell your land you have sales it, it is simple. nothing like what you're thinking of. Never sell your land and if you eventually do so , means that the land belongs to the buyer for the particular place you sold not all Yorubaland but the place you sell. Have it in the back of your mind too.
Why is it of all states in Nigeria its only Lagos that known as NO MANS LAND , Its actually why is to that you need to investigate to fully understand that Lagos is as a matter of fact A NO MANS LAND
Lokoja too is regarded as no man's land... Calabar too is regarded as no man's land... When a city becomes cosmopolitan with a mash of people from every tribe, it's normal
Can you call a particular place no man's land? Is Lagos not on this planet, how can Lagos be no man's land?Check the geographical location. Hmmmmmm 🤔🤔🤔 never seen this before,no be small thing oooo.
@@koloni2862 The first person to use the phrase, “Lagos is a no man’s land” was Lagos State’s BEST EVER GOVERNOR, Alhaji Lateef Jakande in his inaugural speech in 1979 but pin it all on the Igbo’s. Now, this is INEC’s President-Elect’s spokesperson. We have BIGOTS in charge of the APC!!!
