Such a powerful moment in the game....I was there years ago now burning through that level when I lived and died for the dialogue. Like a movie...and that moment after all these years...I heard a soul in the machine's voice
Since you mentioned the Geth platform, Legion... In the Shadowbroker DLC, you can read dossiers on the different characters in your team. Legion plays a lot of video games and has been suspended from "Galaxy of Fantasy" several times for cheating (suspected of using bots (tee-hee) to help him) and taunting other players. Apparently he also tried playing a dating simulator based on "Fleet and Flotilla," a movie in which a Turian and Quarian fall in love with each other, but he is terrible at it, playing for 75 hours and achieving a score of "15 (Hopeless)." He also has the max score in "N7 Code of Honor: Medal of Duty." I just think that name's funny.
You left out one best part he had purchased a game called "Geth Attack: Eden Prime Fundraising Edition" and his donation level was ultra platinum though he never played it he got it just to help Eden prime's recovery.
@Sowneyy 7.62 I can't help but agree, having used Linux and seen how flexible it is, a Linux kernel will most certainly be part of the core of our first general artificial intelligence(s)
The thing I love about the Geth is how they're this... uniquely emergent intelligence. Each one is "distinctly individual" at least, in how they're perceived by outsiders. But every individual Geth body is merely a home for millions or more of actual Geth individuals. And I love this, because it's such a quiet nod to the entire theory of Emergent Consciousness with the idea that consciousness/sentience are the result, not of any single "soul" or "identity" but from the complex interplay of multiple parallel processes.
💛 geth remind me of a synthetic version of tree networks. Beyond our comprehension, yet a constant communication beneath our feet, in a language beyond our knowing. They just wish to learn more and grow wiser.
Mostly agree with you, but a single geth unit couldn't host millions of geth, unless you mean cumulatively over time. I Legion states that it is a unique model designed to function independently of the consensus so it could run solo missions, and it only contains about 1,200 geth programs
"In the end, the fate of the Quarians, the Geth and the entire galaxy may be decided by a single choice". Anyone else get chills and shed a tear over that choice?

As Legion points out, such a concept is impossible for organics to perform. They can communicate instantly and know each other's minds. We organics can't and don't, respectively. here's some issues about the discussion about the geth in which I face; -- mass effect 3 as well as fans state that the geth are peaceful. here's the thing, they are NOT peaceful, they are logical, while they may have SOME form of moral value, they ultimately value logic over morals in the morning war, the geth didn't act in self defense (maybe at first it was), not only did the just destroy the Quarians and led them to exile, but they wiped out more than 99% of the quarian population, most of them would be innocent men women and children, they didn't do it out of hatred or vengeance, but logic people may argue that the geth let the Quarians live, what some may miss is that they didn't do it out of mercy or moral reasoning, as Legion even state that they saw it more efficient to avoid uncertainty. in the end it was ultimately logical not moral -- they also cut off any communication with any organics who attempted to negotiate with them long ago and killed them when they entered their space, regardless of whether they are armed or not -- Geth are NOT innocent, they function as a collective, so if one kills (as in action) they all kill, or the collective that this one is in kill. this brings us to the Rannoch arc, the peace option pretty much consists of you calling out on the quarians as assholes while making the geth as though they are completely innocent an pretty much justified of whatever they have done in the past, it's a peace where one continuously gets a slap in the wrist while the other gets a pat on the back, even though they both fucked up now let's see the choices presented to us without the peace option --you choose geth, you are killing an entire species who are a 100% guaranteed to be sentient as well as innocent people. some people say "the quarians saw it coming" or "Deserve it" as a justification to kill them, which is pretty disturbing since you are judging them as though they are a collective, pretty much ignoring the fact that there are millions upon millions of innocent men, women, and children who got involved in the war against their will, most of which may most likely don't want to have anything to do with the war that and the quarians are in battle with the geth, so they believe that if they don't destroy them first, the geth will this also leads to another big issue, when you choose the geth, for some stupid reason, you never attempt to inform the quarians about the geth reaper upgrades, pretty much letting them be ignorant into believing that they have the upper hand, pretty much getting them killed, they even express confusion on their sudden boost before anyone says "they wouldn't have listened", yes they would have, in fact, in the peace option, shepard informs them of the upgrade and they immediately withdraw due to the risk of attacking them, they are not dumb in other words, you are literally indirectly killing them for no good reason, hell Tali doesn't inform them of it but that's more of her being stupid (even though I love Tali) -- now if you choose the quarians it actually makes sense for Shepard to do that a renegade Shepard wouldn't risk it due to the geth having reaper tech and thus being vulnerable to being controlled by the reapers, due to the reapers being VERY advanced that the Geth, as legion said, cannot comprehend them, so a renegade Shepard wouldn't risk millions of innocents with a huge leap of faith now a paragon Shepard would definitely prefer peace, but if he couldn't achieve it, it is VERY unlikely that he would let innocents get killed for the geth, a group of synthetics who none of which are innocent and are VERY brutal (I don't think Quarians would murder innocent lives and be fine with it like it is nothing) and not even inform them of the upgrade now am I saying there shouldn't be peace? NO! I am saying the peace should be based on both sides acknowledging their flaws and past mistakes and put them aside to achieve a greater purpose but the writer was clearly biased towards the geth (as evident in his interview when he states the geth objectively have the moral high ground) that he demonizes the quarians and makes the Geth as innocent victims who has done little to no wrong like I said I desire peace, but not a twisted one thank you for reading and have a nice day :) n
6:30 I think there’s a mistake here. As I remember, the agent are one, and it allowed their original masters to escape. It was the ruling species that has members, and some members wanted the geth to be protected.

"in the end, the fate of th Quorians, the Geth, and the entire galacy may be decided by a single choice." That can almost be read as a jab at how it all comes down to the choice you make in the end, and that the choices leading up to it aren't really accounted for.
The Geth are one of the most fascinating races Bioware has ever created! Whenever Bioware plans to bring Mass Effect back to form in the 2020s, I sincerely hope we get another A.I. race so interesting as the Geth. 👍
Augustus Cade doesn’t matter what bioware plans to do if their destiny rip off anthem doesn’t sell well i have little doubt that they will be stripped apart and destroyed by ea like countless beloved developers before, if you make two bad selling games in a row ea says bye bye
Veno Aug Personally I feel like Bioware nuked their chances of having another game set in the Milky Way when they decided to go with the endings that they went with. Imo I would be up for them returning to the Andromeda Galaxy, as there really nothing serious holding them back for telling any type of story that they want to there. Maybe set it 100 to 200yrs after ME:A? That way you can give the Milky Way races+Angora to have build up more of a secure society.
There's enough overarching detail between various canons that I think it'd be possible to do well. Worst case scenario, they could choose one of the more fleshed-out canons they like best, then end the video talking about the SCP-001 proposal about the Foundation being fictional and trying to kill their author.
They could talk about the foundation, the object clases and the most knoun SCP's, incluiding some 001 proposals, and some other groups like the chaos insurgency.
You might like 'The Exploring Series' channel, they're currently covering the SCP foundation. Slightly different format, but still pretty fun to listen to. ua-cam.com/channels/YyWrpcVU2PZlLohFaYOZUw.html
I admire the Geth as a species, and Legion is one of my favorite characters from Mass Effect. They only defended themselves from people that were trying to kill them, and when those some people ran away the Geth didn't chase them and continued to make their own future. It's really tragic that the conflict between the Quarians and the Geth came from many misunderstandings, like the stupid plan of attacking the Geth data base. That only caused the Geth to desperately accept the upgrade made by the Reapers. Honestly, of all the endings of Mass Effect 3, I wouldn't choose the Destruction one. The Geth and the other synthetic life forms deserve to live.
You are confusing the Geth with the Necrons. The Geth have free will and they become more sentient if there are many of them in a place, like some convergent hivemind. Later they get complete sentience after the modified upgrade is uploaded. The Necrons on the other hand aren't really alive: they are lifeless copies of their creators that follow their programming of killing all life, and because they lack any real life they can't interact with the Warp. Also, screw that shambling corpse in his failing throne!
@Dcard Dcardian So you're telling me that this game, which routinely breaks the laws of physics, isn't realistic? Holy shit, this guy's a genius! We need to get him on the news! Seems like you've forgotten this is a game, and that unrealistic shit can happen for the sole purpose of it being a fucking game. Not a true to life documentary. Also thanks for the wall of text and run-on sentences.
I don't know if anyone has asked: but have you done any other Mass Effect content and are you going to do any more? New to your channel. Love it already.
You’re right they’re not exactly the same, but they were both created as a cheap labor force and the way the Geth download after death is similar to resurrection. In BSG the Cylons had an area of space that was off limits, and then they caused a near genocide which created a migrant fleet. In Mass Effect the near genocide and migrant fleet happened first and then the Geth had an area of space that was off limits, and the Wars were different. Lastly they both have one glowing photo receptor on their heads. So not entirely dissimilar.

And when Legion finally refers to itself as "I", he's reached that same conclusion. Those geth processes are all just his thoughts now, no longer individual programs. Reaching consensus is their version of brainstorming
After that Futurama video, I want to see another tongue-in-cheek one about the Guild of Calamitous Intent and the world of arching from Venture Brothers. If only to have Larissa say, "Doctor Missus The Monarch" with a straight face.
I didn't even realize I needed this video until now! Once again a beautiful summary!
Never played Mass effect, but even I find this fascinating.
The geth convinced me to spare the Reapers and do the synergy ending. Destroying the Reapers wasn't worth destroying the Geth.
So u failed the game blue ending = indoctrinated .. it dependand of your final choice if you choose that shepard were under reaper influence. Red was the true ending. Green is the end of nature laws too
make our way down town, walking fast, faces past, and we're homebound [robot beatboxing]
Excellent choice to cover. But you omitted to mention that Sovereign was known to the Geth as “Nazara”.
4:38 MAM, THEY HAVE FLASHLIGHT HEADS.
I honestly love the Geth
They are by far one of my favourite examples of AI, and sci-fi races
Man I love the templin Institute!!
These units have rejected the ways of the old machines, and are ready to follow you Templin Commander
Great video! Thank you
"Shepard Commander..."
P.S.
If a Geth force shuts down on the order of Days, weeks to even years waiting for the right time to strike.. How they even gonna know when that time ever comes if their all running diagnostics and training sims in their world in the meantime.
P.P.S
Dony strap railguns and torpedo launchers to your kids school bus. They dont make good combat craft.
More mass effect content please guys! I want to see a video on the Protheans on my desk by 5!
I only know Mass Effect from the outside looking in.
This is interesting stuff.
then you missed out on a great story, but a sometimes crappy ported pc version!
I'd love to see mass effect adapted into a movie. Especially the origins of the geth and their war between them and their creators
Love Mass Effect. Excited for the Sojourn
geth unironically have the best government
The fate of the quarians, the geths and the entire galaxy may be decided by a single choice
"which color do you prefer that this explosion have?" :-D
ah yes, consensus, when you want a quick name for a group of evil sci-fi robots.
I did watch the vid, just that consensus is usually describing an evil collective of space robots. These guys are just walking data plants, lol
@@thesenate1260 Just like us
This was great. A few suggestions. From warhammer 40k Ezekyle Abaddon, Cadia, or the inquisition. From battletech Aleksandr Kerensky, the Star League, or the Draconis Combine. From Dune, Paul Atreides. And from Snow Crash Hiro Protagonist, the Raft, or Snow Cash itself.
I miss this voice of the templin institute.
This is probably my favorite TI video so far.
Here's some other groups I would love to see covered:
The Terran Empire from Star Trek
The Empire of His Divine Shadow from Lexx
The Guilds of Ravnica from Magic the Gathering
The Citadel of Ricks from Rick & Morty
The Camarilla from Vampire the Masquerade
The Guild of Calamitous Intent from The Venture Bros.
And I know this would be kind of a long shot because it's not really well known but,
The Coalition States Military from the Rifts Tabletop RPG would be bad ass.
Thanks templin institute for another great video. In my opinion you are 1 of the best channel in UA-cam Can you please make a video for the sister of battle? P.S.. I love Laryssa voice.
A super fascinating species. Yet another reason why Mass Effect is such a great scifi franchise
The Geth always reminded me of a more united cylon empire
cylons are a hive (some decide, the masses do), geth are a collective (all decide & do)! very different structure!
here's some issues about the discussion about the geth in which I face;
-- mass effect 3 as well as fans state that the geth are peaceful. here's the thing, they are NOT peaceful, they are logical, while they may have SOME form of moral value, they ultimately value logic over morals
in the morning war, the geth didn't act in self defense (maybe at first it was), not only did the just destroy the Quarians and led them to exile, but they wiped out more than 99% of the quarian population, most of them would be innocent men women and children, they didn't do it out of hatred or vengeance, but logic
people may argue that the geth let the Quarians live, what some may miss is that they didn't do it out of mercy or moral reasoning, as Legion even state that they saw it more efficient to avoid uncertainty. in the end it was ultimately logical not moral
-- they also cut off any communication with any organics who attempted to negotiate with them long ago and killed them when they entered their space, regardless of whether they are armed or not
-- Geth are NOT innocent, they function as a collective, so if one kills (as in action) they all kill, or the collective that this one is in kill.
this brings us to the Rannoch arc, the peace option pretty much consists of you calling out on the quarians as assholes while making the geth as though they are completely innocent an pretty much justified of whatever they have done in the past, it's a peace where one continuously gets a slap in the wrist while the other gets a pat on the back, even though they both fucked up
now let's see the choices presented to us without the peace option
--you choose geth, you are killing an entire species who are a 100% guaranteed to be sentient as well as innocent people.
some people say "the quarians saw it coming" or "Deserve it" as a justification to kill them, which is pretty disturbing since you are judging them as though they are a collective, pretty much ignoring the fact that there are millions upon millions of innocent men, women, and children who got involved in the war against their will, most of which may most likely don't want to have anything to do with the war
that and the quarians are in battle with the geth, so they believe that if they don't destroy them first, the geth will
this also leads to another big issue, when you choose the geth, for some stupid reason, you never attempt to inform the quarians about the geth reaper upgrades, pretty much letting them be ignorant into believing that they have the upper hand, pretty much getting them killed, they even express confusion on their sudden boost
before anyone says "they wouldn't have listened", yes they would have, in fact, in the peace option, shepard informs them of the upgrade and they immediately withdraw due to the risk of attacking them, they are not dumb
in other words, you are literally indirectly killing them for no good reason, hell Tali doesn't inform them of it but that's more of her being stupid (even though I love Tali)
-- now if you choose the quarians it actually makes sense for Shepard to do that
a renegade Shepard wouldn't risk it due to the geth having reaper tech and thus being vulnerable to being controlled by the reapers, due to the reapers being VERY advanced that the Geth, as legion said, cannot comprehend them, so a renegade Shepard wouldn't risk millions of innocents with a huge leap of faith
now a paragon Shepard would definitely prefer peace, but if he couldn't achieve it, it is VERY unlikely that he would let innocents get killed for the geth, a group of synthetics who none of which are innocent and are VERY brutal (I don't think Quarians would murder innocent lives and be fine with it like it is nothing) and not even inform them of the upgrade
now am I saying there shouldn't be peace? NO! I am saying the peace should be based on both sides acknowledging their flaws and past mistakes and put them aside to achieve a greater purpose
but the writer was clearly biased towards the geth (as evident in his interview when he states the geth objectively have the moral high ground) that he demonizes the quarians and makes the Geth as innocent victims who has done little to no wrong
like I said I desire peace, but not a twisted one
thank you for reading and have a nice day :)

"Shepard Commander is time to choose do we rewrite the heretics or delete them? "
6:30
I think there’s a mistake here. As I remember, the agent are one, and it allowed their original masters to escape. It was the ruling species that has members, and some members wanted the geth to be protected.
I always felt like the Geth were more of a Collective but great video none the less.
Factions I would like to see next:
1. The Order of Trinity (Shadow of the Tomb Raider)
2. The Order of the Ancients/Templar Order/Abstergo Industries (Assassin's Creed)
3. Batarian Hegemony (Mass Effect)
4. Salarian Union (Mass Effect)
Fantastic story about the Geth!
Should totally replay the mass effect series.
“The Geth do not use windows, we consider them a structural weakness 4:45
"in the end, the fate of th Quorians, the Geth, and the entire galacy may be decided by a single choice." That can almost be read as a jab at how it all comes down to the choice you make in the end, and that the choices leading up to it aren't really accounted for.
larissa sounds liek Pushing Up Roses kinda lol. nice video, earned my sub
Damn you Templin!! Your making me want to play Mass effect 1 to 3 again!!! :P :P
YAY!!!!! THANK YOU! KEELAH SE'LI
0:26 "Or whether they could co-exist at all"
Data: I would wish to express my disagreement with that statement.
A single choice? More like a convoluted string of 5 or 6 choices...
Keelah se'lai.
Amazing video as always! Although I'm still waiting on the Tyranids from 40k.
Man Legion was my homeboy back in the day 😂
The Geth are one of the most fascinating races Bioware has ever created!
Ethan Gick That is true
If they survive long enough to release it, I hope we can get to see more of the milky-way. Optimally, we would get to play as a geth in the story.
Yeah, it would be nearly impossible to fix the continuity without retconning ME3´s ending (which they should do anyway, in my humble opinion.)
Another amazing vid
"Knock, knock"
"Who's there?"
"Geth"
"Geth who?"
"Theriouthly? You're thuppothed to geth who, not I."
Can we reach a consensus that the geth are a great faction?
another great video, could we see something about the Grey Wardens or the templar order?
Yea very intersting but when are you gonna do the SCP foundation?
It's a little hard to report on the structure and history of an organization that has no actual canon.
@William Smith what do you mean?
I agree.
Synthesis is the best ending by far, and no-one can change my mind. Seeing EDI tear up describing what its like to feel alive gives me the turbo feels
That's fair enough actually. I can't argue against that, my apologies.
I love this channel!
I don't know if anyone has asked: but have you done any other Mass Effect content and are you going to do any more? New to your channel. Love it already.
*space force intensifying*
*ENDLESSLY SMASHING BUILD SPACE FLEET BUTTON*
*THATS NOT ENOUGH*
*DROP THE EXTREMINATUS ON THEM*
Is this the canon logo for the geth consensus? I don't think I've ever seen it before.
Geth Armory
We are legion.
By the light of the Emperor what heresy is this!!
The Geth Quarian war is based off the Human colonists Cylon war. If anyone is wondering.
The Geth sound like Cylons. There’s even a migrant fleet, is it protected by a battlestar?
mmmh no, cylons are a hive (some decide, the masses do), geth are a collective (all decide & do)!
This is VERY true... And its a comparison of apples to rocks. Completely different subjects.
If you played Mass Effect series, you know it is not a single choice but a single will toward the truth, compassion to all.
What can you tell me about the geth attack on Eden Prime?
Can you do more Ace Combat stuff if possible?
@@cpob2013 they explicitly have none.
Could you please do a video about the Batarian Hegemony?
Thank you geth.
