As a Korean who lived on Seoul for more than 10years, Itaewon is the last place I would recommend to a foreign friend. Itaewon used to be neighborhood for US expats and army base. Now it hosts a lot of international cuisine so a lot of young koreans go there to experience something of 'foreign' and 'exotic'. If you are tourist trying to have 'Korean experience' Itaewon is not the way to go. I would rather suggest Samchung and Ikseondong. Ikseondong(익선동) is the ultimate tradition meets hipster neighborhood. Other suggestions include 1) Drink beer and go on a picnic where the greens are(yeonnam central park, hangang park, yangjae park, cheonggye stream)+ride bikes!! 2) Go hiking in Jongro area(Buk-ak skyway and Inwang Mt.) where you can see birdeye view of palace to skyscrapers 3) Gwangjang Market or any market 4) Namsan tower
sedvitae21 i find him the “no shit sherlock youtube celebrity chef”. Copied recipes from other youtube videos, common ingredients, truffle here truffle there.
hiya if you actually are planning on visiting Tokyo and Seoul I'd strongly advise you to visit on separate occasions and not together!! feel free to do what u want but I went a few months ago and wished I had time to appreciate each country instead of visit back to back as i couldn't help compare but have a lovely time if u do
i'm korean and so impressed by this video. looks like you've been to korea for many times. i would say this is one of the best travel video about seoul that you need to check before you come to Korea. very informative. and some of information which Korean would only knows , was suprises me.
WARNING: This video will make you crave for Korean foods that are probably not available in your area. Awesome vid! I don't know if this sounds weird, but you are very compatible with food. You made everything look appetizing.
I hope you can make a similar series for capital cities (or otherwise) in the Philippines. It could really come in handy for people who often travel locally and are often stranded for a good number of hours. It would be great to know what good restos to go to (aside from the usual fast food chains), places to explore (aside from the tourist spots), and things to do in a short perioda time . That'll surely beat being bored stuck in the airport. Keep up the great work! :-)
Korea might be a small country size wise, but its power, influence, and wealth is undeniable. It has ahuge influence on pop culture, technology, fashion, culture, and politics worldwide. Enjoyed the video!
in my teenage years i was obsessed with korea and had a dream to work and live there one day. that dream fade away as i grew up but watching this video now is making me fall in love with this country all over again. there's a certain type of feeling that only asian countries can give me. i've never been to any asian country yet but just from watching them on screen i feel like i belong there.
First time to watch your video I was driving after picking up dinner, two blocks from my house, I wound up pulling into an empty parking lot and eating while watching this video because I absolutely could not turn off your show. I love travelling and your show says it all with plenty of delicious foods to add on my list. Thank you for bringing all these wonderful places right in our tablets..
I understand what some people are saying. Plenty of his facts are not really that accurate, but I will say that I appreciate his enthusiasm. I do enjoy seeing people who love this country and want to learn about the culture even if sometimes they have more to learn than others.
The best channel that I watch. So entertaining, informative and very persuasive. The way you speak is like in TV entertainment show. I like the content and usual the way of filming it's so incredible. You deserve more subscribers❤️
his advices are for richer people and also tourists only. if you want to experience Korea, find someone korean to show it to you. the only actually good advice he gave was to stay in Hongdae : D
I travel 7000 miles to see family in Seoul every year and I love the place. Its culture, its food and its people fascinate me. If I had never been before, you just sold it to me :)
I am rewatching this as I was living in Korea when it aired and have been back home for over a year. I am going back in a week... but not to Seoul for a few more, Busan is my first destination.... so excited. Will feel like going back to my second home.
Very entertaining video thanks. I had exactly the same feelings you had when I visited Seoul in 2015 My korean friends pampered me so much and really made me feel very welcome. Thanks to this video, I'm gonna try the live octupus the next time I visit.
Sorry, I live in Seoul, and I think this was ill-researched, not just because the pronunciations were horrendous. That didn't phase me as much as how he would describe the neighborhoods. 1) Itaewon is far from being a hipster area. It's grimy and is the most international part of Seoul but not at all hipster. 2) If you think Sinchon and Ewha are not central, then you've completely disregarded Namsan (where the Namsan Tower is), the famous shopping districts of Myeongdong and Dongdaemun, and even the palaces surrounding the Gyeongbokgung (which is a namesake of the central and biggest palace of Korea there as well). 3) As an Ewha student, it bothers me that he would call Hongik University's area as "Hongdae" but Ewha Womans University as "Ewha", not "Edae". It takes some Korean knowledge, so I'll give a benefit of the doubt, but for the record, the "dae" part comes from "daekhakgyo", meaning "university". Therefore, we take the first syllable of the university's name and shorten it with "dae" for the area it occupies. 4) Seodaemun is the area of Seoul that includes both Sinchon, Ewha and even some of Hongdae, so it didn't make sense to include it separate of those areas. I will say that this was a nice introductory video for Seoul. The food clips were much appreciated, but the misinformation was not good. I'll give kudos for attempting to fit so much information in under 20 minutes. The bias is obvious from the host that he loves Hongdae and Itaewon because the majority of the places he lists are in those areas. However, if you're not in his age range and are not so much into the student areas, I reckon that these places are not in your best interests.
I can understand complaining about poor research, but why do people get offended when foreigners mispronounce something? I imagine if you go somewhere, say Russia or Norway, you'd sound just as silly.
That's why I said it didn't phase me. I'm sure I pronounce places and things horribly in other places, and even though I live here, my accent is still quite obvious to most. I think most are complaining because Erwan's pronunciation is so off (like really off), and I'd say with him being half-Filipino, whose language is syllabic like Korean, personally, I would've expect him to pronounce things better. Oh, well. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
kyootnshort Maybe it's just poor choice of words, since the phrase "...not just because the pronunciations were horrendous. That didn't phase me as much..." would imply that it did somewhat phase you. But whatever. It doesn't really matter.
Ive seen a lot of korean travel guide videos, but this is by far the most informative, yet straight forward and fun video yet! Awesome! thanks for this!!!
I'm going on a trip to Seoul soon so was online doing some research and stumbled onto this! This video is so informative, gave me so many ideas of places to go and you know a good looking host never hurt either hahaha thank you so much for making this!
Waaaaahhh! This video makes me more excited to visit Seoul soon! Thanks for this informative and super cool video! I'll make sure to visit some of the places you've mentioned to experience it first-hand. Daebakkk!! 👍👍👍
this was such a good video. well shot, nice little location tags at the bottom, and good descriptions 10/10 hearing you try to pronounce everything was really funny haha
"The area is huge, but always feels like an intimate experience. Walking around, you get a sense of the immensity that is Seoul but find yourself falling into districts and neighborhoods with their own established identities." -_- There should be more of this caliber of writing in Philippine TV shows.
+Queen of shadow I'm planning on going next year, gonna do college and work at time just to have some korean vacations. :3 I also wanna try out the famous korean bbq :3
...HI ERWAN. . . .I happen to open your video bcoz of Seoul and ohhhh myyyy. . .I LIKE & LOVE it... I've been to Seoul last April but only few i visited due to limited time. . .but THANKS to you, as if i visited the places...anyways, i might go there this December for a winter vacation... KEEP ON POSTING... -claire
rent a bicycle on "따릉이(Dda-reung-e)" app then ride on it, turn on "NAVER MAP(korean version of Google MAPS GO, but certainly google MAPS GO doesn't work in south korea for some reasons)" app and go to "한강(the Han river)" so that you can feel fresh air and see beautiful scenery of seoul. try cross the bridge called "마포대교(Mapo daegyo)" taking photos in the middle of the bridge. you can turn your bicycle back just about anywhere you stop by meaning that there are a lot of 따릉이 stations on streets. furthermore, i highly recommend you guys to visit 익선동(Ik-seon-dong, near Jong-ro), 연남동(Yeon-nam-dong, near Hong-dae) and be getting lost in there. those are small towns and extremely safe to stroll down the streets. you could find so many shops with beutiful korean stuff.
Thank you for this video! It really captured the lovely frenzy of Seoul that I love so dearly. And your emphasis on the Koreans' love of alcohol is spot on. Seoul is not the same without tons and tons of soju. (P.S. I think you should give tteokpokki and soondae another try. Not all street vendors are created equal and the one you sampled looked incredibly bland! Dip the blood sausage in salt or the red sauce from the ttokpokki!)
Omg omg omg! My #1 bucket list place! Daebak! I'm really starting to like this. 🤗 Guess I should approach you and have an autograph when I see you again at Rustans! 😜
I'm going to Korea alone on 24th October, staying there for 7 days. It's really not a plan to go alone but 2 of them back-out and I left behind. That's life! I really want to go Korea so badly. I'm a bit nervous cause I don't have anyone with me. I hope I can really survive and tour korea so freely and fun! (hope someone with me atleast!) : )
Showed the squiggling squid to my GF, "Åh fy fan!" she said, which basically is, "Oh my f**king god!" in Swedish. :D I would love to experience food like that! BTW she's really into seafood, hehe! Your videos are a blast!
Classic Korean moms.. when you guys travel in Korea, sometimes people will just do something for you even if you werent asking. Some situation, it seems a bit rude but that's very classic behavior in Korea. We express our love by acting not words in most of times.. specially if you go to more southern part of Korea where I am from.
Same travel tips I use when headed to an airport! I've seen you in Wil Dasovich's videos before but this is the first time I've sat through your videos... New viewer and subscriber here sir!
Show me lots of good food and that will surely make me want to come and visit. Looks delicious. It's frustrating to look at someone eat it and I can't have it right now.
Hi Erwan. I'm a new subscriber and I'm officially hooked on your channel. I literally just spent the whole day watching your videos. I really like the concepts and content of your channel...they make me want to cook, eat and travel more. I'm excited to watch your next video. 👍🏼
Probably the best travel documentary i've ever watched on youtube. This is amazing!!! I instantly subscribed. It would be so cool if you could do an Overnight in Montréal. The food scene here is unbelievable and fantastique :)

3) Gwangjang Market or any market
4) Namsan tower
sedvitae21 namsan was my best experience there
sedvitae21 which areas do you recommen to stay?
sedvitae21 Thanks for your recommendations! :)

Took me awhile to get the "stay out of the north" joke. I was like, what does he have against the north par ohhhhhhhhhh...
I only understood it when I saw your comment. I feel fucking stupid 😂😂😂
why what is the meaning of the joke, i didnt get that, sorry can you explain please
chae momo It's about the fact that there's a North and South Korea, and that North korea isn't the best place to visit :p
+howchildish ohhh hahaha now i feel dumb bc the joke is so obvious😂😂😂 thanks for explaining
I instantly thought of "north of the wall" in game of thrones world
I think this is the best travel guide of Seoul on the Internet. Good job.
Thanks!
I agree with u
+krnpowr Agree!
+krnpowr Wheres the clubs? I mean when I visit South Korea I wanna party!
Hugo Câmara Hongdae, Gangnam, Itaewon.
If I had a dollar for every time he said hipster I could fly to south Korea and have some soju myself :-)
I was thinking the same thing. Lol
I dare you to take a shot of soju every time he says "hipster"
5 shots. Not much of a party
Even if it's Soju? :D
+Erwan Heussaff Soju + Macjoo (beer) = Somac cocktail. Surprisingly, you'll be smashed in no time lol
one time i commented something like this, and he said to stay away, he don't like it when we brag about hipster.
jungkook what r yu dng here xD
I'm a Korean and living in Seoul but learned a lot from your video clip~!
Won il Kim damn lucky I want to travel to Tokyo then Seoul

Erwan is becoming our own Ishai Golan. These food features are epic!
This is quite the authentic version of a city guide. A see real places Korean people visit. Not dumb places for tourists. Way to go.
Chicken and beer is universal!
I miss korea so freaking much alreadyy....
I travel 7000 miles to see family in Seoul every year and I love the place. Its culture, its food and its people fascinate me.

I never thought Erwan has a UA-cam channel. It hasn't been mentioned in Wil's channel when he vlogged with Erwan. I missed this one. I so love it!
Thank god this channel exist, i'm looking forward to travel around Asia, this kind of recommendations is just what i needed
Thx for the video, I hope you will continue and be more interested by Korean culture, speak korean language correctly too. Good luck.

Hi Erwan. I'm a new subscriber and I'm officially hooked on your channel. I literally just spent the whole day watching your videos. I really like the concepts and content of your channel...they make me want to cook, eat and travel more. I'm excited to watch your next video. 👍🏼
Nothing like watching a cute guy eating yummy food! New to your channel and loving it!
Probably the best travel documentary i've ever watched on youtube. This is amazing!!! I instantly subscribed. It would be so cool if you could do an Overnight in Montréal. The food scene here is unbelievable and fantastique :)
