  • Most people that I introduce Brook Trout to respond with "wow what a beautiful fish". In many ways I think that Brook Trout are swimming art that any true trout angler should thirst for. These beautiful fish, swim is one of the most beautiful waters in the Rocky Mountains. In our show we find some BIG wild Brook Trout high in the Rockies.

      For brooks ide say a Joe fly or a pistal Pete behind a clear water bober as for flies I like black ant type patterns or smaller dry flies👊

      Can’t really speak for the west coast fishing but here in NC I’ve had a ton of luck with my homemade spinners but if I’m buying them I tend to go the rooster tail style or Joe’s flies but that’s just my personal preference lol..

    Hey boss I'm a colorado born and raised native and Im 23. I want to keep this spot as lowkey as you do. Could you message me and at least let me know if this is east or west of gunnison? I've already hiked and fished a few high alpines this season myself but haven't had any major luck. Really hoping to not come out empty handed again and get a nice brookie under my belt. I just had a great weekend and caught 15 small ones in the "deckers area" in a small stream. I think bringing the spin rod will help at these lakes. Anyways i appreciate your time my man. Keep up the hard work and you keep inspiring me to get out there.

    Awesome vid brother, man the colors on those trout were absolutely beautiful! That was some amazing country even if you did have to hike 5-6 miles, well worth it I’m sure. You never disappoint my friend 👍

      Man it is good to hear from you bud. I know we step away because life happens and we are busy I post less then I use to but it’s the old faces that make me happy to hear from. Thank you for your generous comment. Hope you and the family are good!

      Yeah man I know I took a long break and since the move I really was putting in a ton of hrs, but thankfully now I get a long weekend every month so I been focusing on the channel more. Plus it’s a bonus knowing I got some awesome content like yours to catch up on! I did watch a few of your videos yesterday but didn’t leave a comment because I already left a couple on these videos. Really liked watching them big olé cutthroat and lake trout videos. Looking forward to seeing the Jumbo perch and catfish videos 👍😉

    Why not braid instead of Fluoro? How big was panther Martin in terms of weight?

    • @MountainStateAngler
      @MountainStateAngler  11 місяців тому

      Since this video I have switched to braid from flouro. So now it’s 10LB Suffix braid with a 8LB P-Line Flouro leader, the leader so it comes of invisible. The panther martin if you go to a store is the smallest one. I’m throwing it on a medium light.

      @@MrJdawg303 great tip! literally what I did in Gunnison, Grand Mesa and Flat tops all have amazing fisheries, takes me a couple of trips to figure where they are in the lake. And fall and spring are the only time I have luck.

      @@joshkerrigan7415you’ll have to go towards Gunnison for some good options.
