- Blaine, the Fire type Gym Leader of Cinnabar Island in Kanto, is stronger than we thought. It's time to look at his evolution in the main series Pokemon games and construct his strongest & best team by looking at all of Blaine's Pokemon and all battles in the timeline from Kanto, Johto, Unova, and beyond!
Leading into Pokémon Sword & Shield and with Pokemon Masters release, it's important to know how strong the trainers we've seen in the series are. We're going to take a look at Gym Leaders, Rivals, Elite 4 Members, Champions, etc. and figure out their TRUE POWER.

Actually did u forget about his camerupt at level 57 which can be used wisely for rock type which do ×2 to all his pokemon and ×4 to his charizard?
Funny how Moltres saved Blane’s life when it’s Articuno’s job to save people who are lost in the cold mountains. But I guess it had a day off from work that day.
plus Articuno lives at the Seafoam Islands, not Moltres lol

Fun fact, in the long-running pokemon adventures manga, Blaine does create mewtwo. Actually, the given reason that mewtwo looks more humanoid than mew is because mewtwo is part human. Blaine used his own DNA for the creation of mewtwo, and with some psychic shenanigans, they're linked, meaning if one takes damage, the other does as well. Also, mewtwo was created by team rocket in this canon, since Blaine was a scientist working for them during that time, though he ended up having a change of heart because of red. I recently reread the gen 1 manga, so this stuff is fresh on my mind.
I like how in the manga half of the gym leaders are affiliated with team rocket

The manga is a separate entity from the games but it’s still a cool adaptation of the Pokémon universe

The Kanto Gym Leaders are arguably the most memorable and enduring gym leaders in the Pokemon series:
The games (including Pokemon Stadium & Pokemon Puzzle League), TCG, Anime/Manga, the remakes, etc.

You must have a very shallow opinion of the other regions gym leaders. Not to say they aren’t memorable, but I got excited as a kid to see Sinnoh leaders like C.Wake in Johto in HG/SS

would his Charizard not be level 62 as in the Kanto Leaders Tournament his Charizard knows Inferno which in Gen 5 he can only learn through level up
That's pretty cool. In my mind it will be at 62.
Unfortunately Charmander can learn Inferno as early as 46 and Charmeleon as early as 54 in Gen 5, so it's best we assume on the lower end to be safe (around Level 56, where most of his other Pokemon seem to be). Good catch, though, it very well could be around 62!

You might be mistaking Blaine for Koga, who moved from Fuchsia Gym Leader to Elite Four in Gen 2.

You are actually correct about Blaine having something to do with creating Mewtwo because in the Pokemon area and Blue manga, it says that Blaine used to work with Team Rocket, and when he was working with them, Mewtwo needed some human DNA, so because he gave Mewtwo some DNA, they are able to share thoughts

@@perry-1572 Let's Go! is set years after the events of Red/Blue/Yellow shown with Red and Blue being much older, the fact that you don't even play as Red is another reason shown with Red actually being encountered within the game. Let's Go! is a sequel at the very most to Yellow, definitely not a remake.

If you read the Pokémon Adventures manga, (if you haven't, do so immediately) you'll see that he did indeed create Mewtwo. This occurred while he was working for team rocket.

I have been playing pokemon since blue and red came out and i never knew about the questions in the gym. I always just fought the trainers. Wow haha
You know, it's funny... even though Blaine's signature Pokemon is Arcanine... people remember him for his Magmar... mainly cause of the anime... but the looks people remember for him are from the games rather than the design of the anime (though the anime used his original design since it seems that Blaine's design was modified pretty late in development, and the anime was too late to the party for that).
The next one I wish to see is Wallace, the Gym Leader who became a Champion and is a contest star.

Manga blaine is a beast
Facts. I found the best damn Pokemon game I've ever played. If any of you like the manga, you should look into "Pokemon Red Adventure Chapter." Its literally the story of the manga with some extra stuff to extend the game of course. You literally start as Red with a Poliwag and have Poliwhirl by the time you get Bulbasaur. Its excellent. You can even get hidden abilities for any of them. Chlorophyll for Bulbasaur being quite important. The Pikachu learns SURF by level up and has the Speed Boost ability. The Eevee that can freely switch between forms IS playable as well, and you can control what form. You can freely evolve him between ANY of the existing forms as opposed to the original 3. As well as ALL THE POSSIBLE OTHER TYPES THAT DON'T EXIST.
Once again excellent job! This now finish kanto off with Janine's true power!

If I’m not mistaken, in Pokemon Adventures, (the main manga series) Blaine *was* used in the creation of Mewtwo because the scientists needed his DNA to complete Mewtwo. Because of this, he began to degenerate but he could track Mewtwo down to Cerulean Cave.
Then he gave Red the Master Ball, had Arcanine use Fire Spin to protect Red from Mewtwo for a bit, then Red had his starters and Snorlax attack it to distract while Pikachu threw the Master Ball and Mewtwo was caught. I don’t think Blaine died after that.
I’d like to think that when the volcano erupts Blaines arcanine dies during the chaos trying to save him which is why he has his arcinine is gone after the eruption

He's one of my favorites, also his team would be somewhat my team if i were to be a pkmn trainer! I love fire types and once i wrote HQs based on pkmn. Vulpix was my starter and i made my way to be a gym leader through some fun adventures like in the anime... I can only imagine that as an official canon, how cool would that be? ❤️

As far as the next true power, I'd like to see Burgh or Drake. That aside however I'm yes and no surprised that Magmar didn't make the cut. My logic behind this is: A. what's the point of Magmar if Magmortar is already there? B. If Magmar isn't running eviolite as the held item, then it's more logical to have Magmortar anyway in the first place.
What is Ash Ketchum's best possible team? The process of determining it would be a bit different, can't really see his Pokemon's levels but analyzing their individual feats and finding their place in competitive play would be a possibility
