The majority of older movies are way better than movies nowadays from Hollywood. I'm proud that a revamp of the original Godzilla they went above and beyond. Toho Corp best Godzillas ever
Every pop culture and franchise from Japan such as Godzilla, Super Sentai/Power Rangers, Dragon Ball and other animes, Ninjas & Samurais that I've grown up with since childhood when I look back on has modivated me to go to Japan and I hope I go there for once in a lifetime.
As someone who has Godzilla as their favorite fictional character and the most important franchise of my life, seeing all of the hype around Minus One is so satisfying. I’ve seen the entire film thrice, and it just kept getting better and better with every watch.
One of the most powerful segments in the movie was the lead up to Godzilla's atomic breath blast and how the anticipation of what was going to happen, along with the music, then the people just standing in shock and awe and finally starting to runnwhen they realize what's coming. Then the ray comes, then the explosion and repercussion of the blast along with the heartbreaking view of the woman pushing the guy into the alley to save him. Knowing what he is going to lose. And after seeing all Godzilla has done and losing his girl, he mirrors Godzilla's roar by letting out his own towards Godzilla. I was shaking because of the devastation and the loss of life.
This movie really hit home to me and moved me, the story was amazing first movie that made me cry and I'm not afraid to admit that

Everything you said I completely agree with. Godzilla Minus One wasn't a movie, it was an experience. This was easily one of the best pictures I saw in my lifetime. I went with my brother who was barely a Godzilla Fan and he literally has the same opinion about this one. If possible, highly recommend seeing this in a 4DX Theater. It literally felt like you were on the boat with the men facing off with Godzilla.
This movie DESERVES to make 1 Billion. Everything from the story, pacing, tones, acting, characters are master class scale. Fun Fact. Speaking of Sentai, Gokai Blue was one of the main characters in Minus One

Yes sir! I'm 45 yrs old, I still remember my aunt first showing me Godzilla when I was about 8 yrs old lol and I've was hooked ever since. I took her to see Minus one and the evolution of the Gman is insane. Best movie of the year by far. She didn't even know about this movie she thought I was taking her to The New Empire lol. Love it
The opposite happened to me. I've told every single one of my friends to go see the movie. If you see one movie this year, make it this one. Not ONE has gone to see it. It's sickening.
Amen. It’s a special movie. I remember seeing Star Wars and Jaws as a kid and this gives me the same feeling. Oppenheimer and Godzilla M1 are my 2 top films for the year. GM1 comes out in top due to the hopeful messaging.

Absolutely. Definitely one that helps therapeutically for the mental and emotional aspects. Everyone should watch it. I realized how I connect so well with the entire movie and every character. Not taking anything away from the graphics and what have you; but It's the message that stands out to me.
Godzilla was the first character i ever said i was when i was a child in the 90s my dad put me on him and ever since then i always loved him ...in memory of my dad i keep Godzilla close to me and my first and only tattoo will be him .... Godzilla will always be apart of me for i am him...thank you father for being a stand up man and for introducing me to this divine character ...rest in peace one love 🖤🔥🐲🔥🐉✊🏿

This past Saturday I got a little choked up wishing I could have seen Minus One with my father. He passed away almost 2 years ago and is a big WWII buff, this would have been right up his alley.
My dad has been gone for almost twenty years but wished he could have seen this. He fought in WWII; it makes me sad that hardly any of those vets are alive to see this film. Its compassionate portrayal of PTSD is amazing.
Im so happy theres so many people who feel the same way about this movie that I do. I wouldve been fine if I was the only one but its a reminder that we all regardless of life circumstances are going thru the same things together

We’re here for you bud, I lost my uncle Friday and I’m just so angry at the world despite my rational mind knowing it’s no one’s fault, just human error I can’t hide just how sick I am of life constantly humbling me over and over, but I’m trying my best to just stay quiet rather than outwardly show the pain my dad and I feel right now. For some context for the last three years my dad, two of his sisters and I had been caring for my uncle who suffered from kidney failure due to complications from diabetes. For three long years we struggled through doctors appointments, dialysis, and surgeries all so that he could have a chance at a normal life again. Well recently he had a dialysis appointment and he noted that the nurse was not the usual one and they set him up quicker than usual, then this past Thursday he went into a coma and the doctors had explained that he had gone into septic shock from an infection that had been spread through all his organs through the dialysis. He passed away on Friday and my dad is shattered because he was his younger brother, I know I’ll get past this someday but it’s ok for you to feel your emotions especially if you’re going through a tough time

Dragon Ball, Super Sentai/Power Rangers and other japanese franchises are very well known from Japan, but GODZILLA is the OG of Japan. GODZILLA is the Biggest and main Mascot of Japan, there's no denying that.

I was so glad when I heard a new Godzilla was coming out. I was in the mood for a good monster movie and it being from Japan, I was confident it would be free of THE MESSAGE. Imagine my delight, it also had a great moving human story that almost had me in tears. I saw it twice and can't wait to buy the DVD.
Watched in Japan theater last Dec and going today again .. a mix of drama, history, human feeling on impact of what a War is on us, destruction, defeat and anger .. life is something we value after we see a love one lost.

Easily my 'Best Film' of 2023. I went into "G Minus One" expecting a B-movie romp (which is fine), but it absolutely blew me away from an emotional standpoint like few movies ever have. And it wasn't just one are the film excelled, but every cinematic metric available. I've already purchased the haunting musical score and patiently await the 4K blu-ray release.

I’ll probably watch aqua man 2. Those films are good but they’re just samey samey forget about it the moment you leave the cinema type films. They’re by the numbers type films. Films like Godzilla leave a mark in your memory
This just shows how much better the movie industry would be if they prioritized story and style over messages and multi-media material. There's nothing wrong with the ladder but movies do not need to be 100 million dollar money sinks in order to be enjoyed. Sometimes you just need to peel back and look at what the core is.

Wanna know the real reason the American Godzilla movies haven't had any anti nuclear/anti war messaging? It's because if I movie uses the US Military in their story, it has to be approved by the actual US Military. And let's just say, they basically censor the hell out of movies that use the Military. It sucks but hard to really blame the movies themselves when it's more of an American problem in general.
When I compared this movie with the upcoming westernized godzilla, this one looks more GODZILLA. The hollywood version I see it as a RAMPAGE GAME adaptation. NGL tho.
I disagree in my opinion Godzilla - 1 is sort of a remake of the original 1954 film while the American films are paying homage to the showa films of 1960s and 1970s that being said I enjoy all Godzilla content I really don't like the argument that one is superior while the other one is trash.
How about Minus One Minus Color? I found the movie even better in black and white, and it reallly gave it a feel closer to the original

So me and mum decided I'm seeing Godzilla and she's watching A Nightmare Before Christmas 30th anniversary on Friday as I'm in the UK (as we both got unlimited cards at our local cinema) then we both watch Rebel Moon on the Saturday given she didn't wanted to see it based on the atomic bomb demolishing Japan in real life and that it's not a happy movie and I've seen great reviews on it and just showing up Hollywood which I'm happy about it only because they're giving us turd of blockbusters
Ok, while I absolutely agree with you on how brilliant this film is, I have to correct you on your notion that this film hits as hard as "Star Wars" in '77. I WAS alive for that(I was 9). "Star Wars" hit 9 times harder than "Godzilla Minus One" did, culturally, film experience-wise and at the box office. "Star Wars" changed everything about how films were made and watched overnight. "Godzilla Minus One" deserves to have hit as hard for the quality of story, effects, direction and acting, but it simply won't change the world in the way "Star Wars" did.
I agree I like it better than Shin and in some ways I like the as much as the original 54 Godzilla. I agree with what people are saying that it would be great movie even if there was no Godzilla. I like the Godzilla movies where even when the big G isn't on screen he still pushes the movie forward . Even when Godzilla isn't on screen he stills feels like he is there, waiting in the background. lurking like a shadow, like a monster, a shadow over the characters and the story and I also agree with those saying it is the best film of 2023. it makes me glad I am a Godzilla fan

it aired at 22:45/10:45pm in my local cinema here in germany and there were like 20 people there when I saw the movie, I think that was the first time I ever witnessed people leaving the theater in silence not even small talking because of what we all witnessed the pure emotion that this movie leaves behind is kind of amazing, the joy, the suffering, the trauma, the relief all condensed into a monster movie where you feel for the Humans.
I myself had tears in the eyes at least 3 times, cannot wait to watch the movie a few more times once it gets released as a Bluray

Well I saw this movie and I sorry to say it ok. Graphically it's awesome and Godzilla looks great. Very real but it's not Oppenheimer level fir sure. It's fine. Plus it's not even original idea. It's a remake...there you have it.
I saw this movie at Evo Entertainment. The sound was amazing on this movie. I took my wife to see Shin Godzilla, I told my wife again We are going to see this movie. I told her it going to feel like the old school feeling. Bad acting that Japanese people can only do on a good ass movie like this one. It was perfect on everything I wanted out of a Godzilla movie. Even my wife was like damn it was good and when Godzilla appears it was scary and was an asshole at the same time 😂
I've seen Oppenheimer, but Godzilla Minus One is a vastly superior film in my view.

This is the kind of film that hits you harder the more life experience you have. Survivors guilt isn’t limited to people that have seen war or major disasters. This film has universal messaging, told from a Japanese point of view, so I think it touches everyone that sees it to some extant

i wish it had the proper showing and seatings rather than be neutered in the theaters but I dont think they can show it beyond december since it will run with godzilla x kong. Remember this movie was supposed to leave the theaters last week. It only had like a week release originally which is baffling.

Money is tight with me right now but I spend the 15 bucks to watch it yesterday. This was the first Godzilla film I watched in the theaters and I will say this is the best movie in its genre.
