I want to use the machine for piecing with the 1/4 inch foot. Can I turn the hover off altogether?
Yes. Watch in the video starting at 2.45 and you will see the setting on the far left in needle down hover is " no hover at all" .
Do you use the hover setting for the free motion quilting with the bsr

I do turn the needle down hover off when I am suing the BSR or anyfreemotion foot.
