    yes you are correct, do NOT spray while fruiting.spraying is to simulate a rainy cold night to (shock)initiate fruiting, also known as dunking completely submerge mycelium in cold water for 2 to 12 hours simulating rainy night.you can have the bottom of you bag or cakes sitting in water or on perlite or hydro-ton. or inject cold water directly into mycelium instead of spraying outer surface that is already pining.

    Hello I got a question about watering. I saw in the video that you were watering the top of the bags with a spray. It is before mushrooms start to grow (just after placing the bag in the fruiting room right ?). Because I read that after, during growing period, you need to NOT WATER DIRECTLY the mushrooms (it could damage them) but to spray around to increase humidity level...
    Can you help me with this watering issue please ? Thanks by advance !

    I may be wrong but cutting the ends off the mushroom that's where the mycelium is isnt it?
    mushrooms are self perpetuating surely??

    • @ralbiruni
      @ralbiruni 8 років тому +1

      Do not leave the bottom of the fungus during picking. But the mycelium removed should be taken in my humble opinion a small amount of floured board. This floured board has the unfortunate habit to rot when there are many much quantities.
      It is more usual to take cells from the inside of the hat and inoculated cooked wheat grains, all under sterile conditions.
      Best regards of a mushroom supporter!

      +Tom Dixon
      Depends on what species of mushrooms you choose to grow.
      Oyster mushies like the ones being grown in this vid tend to grow better in cooler temps (between 50f and 70f).
      You can incubate them in the 70s.
      During incubation, high humidity is best so most people incubate indoors and grow fruits outdoors during the cool parts of the year (spring and fall).
      Otherwise, you need some place where you can control temp and RH that has indirect light.

      Have you tried the grocery store? Bags like these are used for freezing Cornish hens here in Tx. I saw someone use a "humidity tent" in a video that's just a turkey bag with holes cut in it. I can find both sz bags sold with sandwich bags.

    • @BigRalphSmith
      @BigRalphSmith 8 років тому

      9ream1n
      That's odd. I just went and looked at the link and that's almost all I saw there.
      They are called Spawn Bags.
      Or are you obsessing on obtaining the _exact_ same bags as shown in the video?
      If so, I'm sure that weeks of research and effort can get you in contact with the foreign company that supplied the _exact_ same bags used in the video. Then you can spend an exorbitant amount of money to have some shipped to you.

    • @BigRalphSmith
      @BigRalphSmith 8 років тому

      Joy Alba
      Not the same bags, Joy.
      Spawn bags have a special vent that allows gas exchange but prevents contamination. The vents are also designed to maintain a specific humidity.
