Hypermesh Weld Connectors [Spotweld & Seamweld]
Вставка
- Опубліковано 16 вер 2024
- Weld connectors is a crucial topic in the pre-processing of BIW and sheet metal components using Hypermesh. In this video, we will take a look at the most commonly used methods to create and realize spotwelds and seamwelds using Hypermesh.
We will focus on 3 different types of spotwelds and assign proper mechanical properties to the weldments as per the connector definitions.
The 3 most commonly used methods to create seamwelds is also shown in detail.

Thanks to @Ken Kim for all the help in making this video!
Oh Man..... You are a saviour..... Only channel in UA-cam which makes clear cut explanation and high quality videos with accurate video presentation....... Big fan of u bro.... Pls keep doing hypermesh video....
Thanks! Good to know you like the content posted on this channel :)
Very happy to be part of it my friend, now everyone should know how to idealize welding for their analysis!
Very helpful. Thank you. Looking forward to more of your videos!!
Im glad you liked the video!
Your teaching style awesome sir
Thanks for simplified explanation
Glad it helped 👍🏻
Liked and subscribed
Absolutely love the videos
Hoping for more Hypermesh related videos 💗
Thanks Sourabh :)
It's very useful for me and also please make a video for joints like sph joint and cylindrical joints
Hello Veera,
I must say you are in luck. The joints video will be released within the next 2 days. I have been working on it for a few days now.

@@Aeroswap ok thank you sir
an excellent and cool explanation was given.. on this very very important 1D welds topic sir..........
Very nice, thanks.
Hi, please make a video on adhesive joint
Hi Dilip, thanks for the suggestion. I will work on this topic soon!
Plzz make a video on fatigue analysis on Hypermesh
Very helpful
Thank you!
sir if in a big assembly ,in 2 components number of elements are not same then which option we can use to do seam weld.
sir, what is the difference between Rb2 and Rb3 elements.
Hi Lokesh,
Please watch my Bolt connectors tutorial. In that video, I have provided a brief differentiation between RBE2 and RBE3 elements and discussed which is better in terms of overall accuracy of the analysis.
I get error as not connected spot weld is not fully in tie when checked in primer
How to decide the type of connector elements for a particular joint type ?
It depends on the accuracy of the results that we expect. Using RBE2 causes excess stiffness in the model. Using RBE3 is better but still not comparable to the actual weld. Using acm is better than RBE3 but the formulation used and material properties decide the accuracy.
What I mean to say is that the choice of type of weld is completely up to the analyst. Keeping in mind that no method is going to provide 100% accuracy, we must select what is suitable for any particular case under consideration.
A simple test case may work just fine with rigid welds. On the other hand, we may opt for acm or other advanced option for a full scale final run.
I hope you understand my point!
Hi, are the nodes of the slave part (green) adjusted according to the angle ?
Please upload how to assign thickness.
Just create a new property with card image PSHELL. Specify proper thickness in the 'T' field and then assign it to the weld component.
OK, thank you Sir.
Please also provide geometry for same
Practice purpose
Sir I have created rigid but for rbe3 I can't create connection
Hello Raj,
I did not understand what you are trying to say. Can you please elaborate.
Is there any way to create tension only spring elements in hypermesh?
Yes, please watch the recently posted bolt pretension tutorial on this channel.
Hi, What tool do you recommend for a T joint weld?
Any of the methods shown in this tutorial can be used. It depends on your modeling requirements.
@@Aeroswap I've tried to connect the plates but I get errors like this "Only 0 projections could be made for one or more of the test points, layers specified is 2" . I have changed parameters in tolerance, height and spacing but the error keeps coming out.
Do you want to join the two perpendicular surfaces by geometry editing? If yes, watch my tutorial about '5 tips for geometry editing'. It will be in the 'Quick tricks' playlist.
I am sure it will be very helpful in this regard.
@@Aeroswap Hi, thanks for your help. I am watching all your videos.
