I lived there from April 1997 to December 1998. At that time it was the AIEJ Komaba Ryugakusei Kaikan for students from many universities in Tokyo (I studied in Keio U.). My room was in the main building, second floor (2-215). Great memories from that place. I used to go shopping to Shimokitazawa by foot.
hi! were you allowed to use your own cooking appliances (like the rice cooker?) in the common areas or even inside your room? the guide states that using any items that could cause a fire is prohibited and i'm wondering how strictly they enforce this for items like kettles/rice cookers/mini pots😓
can you get into the international program even with a japanese passport? im half and im gonna keep my jp passport to live in japan but im afraid itll make this impossible to enter international courses ( my japanese isnt good enough to get japanese courses)
did you use to cook in the shared kitchen or were you cooking at your room? considering you were having your kitchen tools at you room. I am going to study at UTokyo Komaba next April and I'm really worried about the dorm's life.
Yes, I used to cook in the shared kitchen. I have my own kitchen tools just in case 😅 The dorm is cozy and you can make friends with other foreign students too there so I think you don’t need to worry! Good luck!
@@ayu7826 Found the answer. That used to be JASSO’s International Komaba House and now became U of Tokyo’s Komaba Lodge Main. The current Komaba Lodge Annex used to be “Toudai Komaba Lodge,” which was different from the Komaba House. I used to live at the 7th floor of the Toudai Komaba Lodge a decade ago and had some friends at the Komaba House so I’m a bit familiar with the location and interiors.
