I'm currently braiding my hair down as I'm watching this! I'm so glad you mentioned there's a maximum for how long to leave in protective styles. I've realized that there's this misconception that the longer you keep in your styles, the better, and some people don't realize there's a limit. There's been a couple times I've had clients who come in with briads that are 4, 5, even 6 months old and I'm like 🤦🏾‍♀️ 😩

Wowwww!!! 6 months😱😱😱 that’s half a year ! Idk how people do it ! That speaks volumes for your work , to have braids that can last so long but it’s definitely unhealthy

Yessss preach! Too many touch ups defeat the purpose of protective styles! New growth is a good thing. It doesn't have to be redone every two weeks 😤 I definitely agree with redipping the ends and maybe brushing up the edges and now you have a completely new style. Also if I feel like my braids are getting old, I just put it up in a bun and throw on a head band and now no one can see the roots and the braids look brand new again!

Thank you!!! And Omggg I should’ve most definitely mentioned headbands ! I’m so glad that you said it , because high buns and headbands are the perfect cover up for old braids !!!

Hey I just used the braid freshener, I’ve had two strain twists for about 8 months , I normally take them down once a month and get them retwisted. In all I’ve used all types of products shea moisture scalp moisture , tea tree oil etc but I’ve had my two strain twist in now for about 3 weeks , I just used this braid freshener today and I absolutely like it . I used a little too much but I felt the difference I just found your channel today ! But I found the dry wash and thank you for explaining everything as a man it was difficult to learn about oiling the scalp and different products. In all thank you for this vid ! Definitely helped me !

@@OnBehalfofBritt I did , your were on point ! I Wear braids a lot (I have some now) , I totally agree with the no more than one refresh per set of braids , I have the foam from that new line and I don’t play about tying my hair down. I use some cleanser on a baby wipe to keep my scalp fresh and free from oil Build up. Thanks for the video 🤗

I have soo many bonnets and scarves too lol I'm just addicted to buying them. I've never tried velvet though. I'm gonna have to look out for that. That island oil is one of my staple products! My clients love it too! I've tried other oils just to try something new but I keep coming back to my island oil!
