What is the difference between Amarone and Valpolicella? Amarone della Valpolicella and Valpolicella are produced in the North part of Italy - region of Veneto. Valpolicella and Amarone can be produced from eight grapes, including Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella, Molinara, Oseleta, Dindarella, Croatia and Spigamoti. Valpolicella region is divided into three subregions, including Valpolicella orientale, Valpolicella Valpantena, and Valpolicella Classico. Valpolicella wines are normally fermented in stainless steel tanks and than aged in the bottle for a few months, which is Amarone is produced from partially dehydrated grapes for over 100 days and than aged in oak for a minimum 2 years.
My favourite producers of Amarone della Valpolicella and Valpolicella are: Paulo Cottini, Azienda Agricola Meroni, Fidora, Tedeschi, Monte Santoccio and Domni Veneti.
