I’m noticing Korean food in your videos and thought of one thing - Korean food for some reason tastes so much better outside! I finally convinced my wife (after a year) to pack some gimbop and come out w me on the jet ski and park it on one of the many small islands on my lake - not sure why but amazing how the most simple foods can taste awesome outside!
I’ve been enjoying watching your camping adventures. I’m looking forward to more camping adventures with my fam. I love your Outback Wilderness. I can’t wait to get my own. My 2000 outback is up to 372,000+ miles. The roof rails are not strong enough for the roof top tent. I use my wife’s 2014 Crosstrek for camping with the RTT, but it is a little tight on space with myself, wife, kid, and dog. Good for a long weekend, but too small for week+ trips.
Thank you very much! I really appreciate it 🙏 😌 and that's a lot of adventurous miles you got on your outback!! And if you upgrade your outback, maybe you can sleep in the car with your dog and rest can sleep in the RTT ~ that's what i would do if we get a RTT and out grow it.
This channel is a living catalog, he demonstrates all the really nice camping stuff that’s available if you got the money. Notice he’s not out there to canoe, kayak, bicycle, fish or hike. It’s to set up camp demonstrating extreme camping equipment and fine dining in the field.
Thank you for joining our camping adventure and I go camping to escape from my daily busy, stressful life and not everybody likes/wants to canoe, kayak, hike or do any activities while camping. just relaxing time in isolation is good enough for me.
Great video- I enjoy the sounds of camp set up, nature and reading about the experience! I saw at the end you had a dead battery. I heard on another channel that if you plan to leave the tailgate open, simply place a caribeaner in the latch hook to prevent the battery dying. I’d be curious to know if that is accurate. What do you like better, the sleep set up in the car or the tent? Thanks!
Hi Brian, yes the battery did drain out because I left the hatch open. You can use a carabiner or I use a key to close the latch. I showed a demonstration on this camping video ua-cam.com/video/TgHFZzTtWfo/v-deo.html It's a different experience, tho I have to say I do feel safer sleeping in the car with the doors locked. LoL. But I do prefer the space in a tent.
Is it possible to close the gate while leaving the tent set up? I imagine not because the gate sorta holds the one side. Highly considering purchasing this tent (how I found your videos). But my wife and I are new to camping and like the thought of closing the gate if we feel uncomfortable or in the event of an unwanted visitor Thanks in advance! Love the channel. Keep it up!
I’m curious if you lifted your Outback? If so did you ever have issue with all your gear in and when pulling out of a corner feel the car wheel shuttering? I was thinking possible with having too much weight in the back the front wheels were not getting enough downforce to have traction on specific corners. Happens on paved roads not off road
Thank you! And I had a rooftop tent before and had mixed feelings. Positives were, you were off the ground, so felt safer and I actually did have an encounter with a black bear that came to my camp and he went for the food in the icebox but he had no idea I was in the rooftop tent. Had I been sleeping in the ground tent, the outcome might have been a different story 😳 but that also brings to the negatives, you have to have the car perfectly leveled because you are elevated, I had the soft top tent by tuffstuff so the set up wasn't all that quick and easy, when not in use it was pain in the butt to take off and put back because they were so heavy, when it is windy thing flaps like crazy and couldnt sleep, kills the MPG, takes up the whole roof space, but!! I had my eye on Thule tepui foothill tent because of the design, i can utilize part of the roof top and since the weather is getting warmer and the places I goto to does have bears and for that reason alone, I would pick it up again. I guess there are more negatives than positive, but if you want to feel safer in the outdoors, I guess it weighs out the negatives. 😆
I’ve got the Tepui kukenam 3 for my wife’s Crosstrek. I love it, she loves it, my kid loves it, my dog loved it. I rigged up a pulley setup in my garage for easy one person install and removal. I would not recommend leaving it on for daily driving, but for camping trips it is awesome. I will try to get an outback wilderness soon.
Well i can't. I have an '18 outback and if i leave the hatch open for more than an hour it's a dead battery. Wonder if they ever fixed that quirk. It was only the power door ones.
I've been wondering about some kind of synthetic flooring for tents that is light and easy to roll up or fold up, easy to clean/brush off, there's nothing worse than lumpy, cold dirty floors in tents, there has to be a better way. A foam, synthetic barrier between you and the ground. Like some kind of foam thats coated in thin plastic that rolls up or folds up into sections that could lay down on the ground and then put the tent floor on, top of it, of course it would have to be the exact same size as your tent's floor area, but i'm sure someone can come up with a fix for this ? It wouldn't need to be too thick either, assuming the foam was solid enough it could be between 2 or 4 inches thick ?
that is a great concern and I've seen other camper purchase carpet flooring but that's made just for that specific tent and I am sure it's a lot of extra gear to load. also I use half inch thick package foam for the tents that has a ground sheet but for a car tent like the KampKeeper, it doesn't really bother me.
That was awesome. And your subie looks incredible with the methods and bigger tires. Do you think that tent has enough stretch to fit a full size truck with a topper?
Looked like a very peaceful night. Also, thought the current years had an upgrade to keep the battery from draining? Either way, I've been using a hatch catch on mine if I'm going to have the hatch open.
Thanks and thats what I thought and it didn't drain it out the last time I used this tent.. I don't know what the deal was. But when using a hitch catcher, does it still unlock and release the catcher ? Because I heard it won't release the catcher because the hatch is open and one of the guy had to cut the catcher..
@Chasing Adventures at least in my case, it does release the hatch catch with no issues since the car thinks the door is closed. I bet you the guy who had to cut his probably put it into the hatch latch instead of letting the hatch close on the hatch catch. I had a similar issue when I tried using a carabiner on my powered hatch.
@Dalton oh you are actually using the red hatch catcher, and yes the guy who had to cut his was using a carabiner and I was going to use it too. LoL good thing that was cleared!! I wonder if I could line up the carabiner so it would latch on like the hatch catcher, but at that point, it be just easier to buy one.
@Patrick hatch catcher is a little red device someone came made (can find it on etsy) and it is to fool the car that the hatch is latched so it doesn't drain the battery.
I watche a few of your videos on this Kampkeeper tent. You have all the cool little accessories. Do you feel the tent is lacking with it not having a bottom to seal out the ground like traditional tents? Also do you have a website for all your accessories? Thanks
Thank you. I actually like that it doesn't have ground sheet. it makes it easier to go in and out without taking off the shoes. most of my camping gear is from Amazon www.amazon.com/shop/chasingadventures?ref=ac_inf_tb_vh if not, links are in the each video description.
Great camp! So relaxing to watch. Pepper is such a camping trooper ❤🐾.y question to you is how does the kampkeeper do in the rain? Any leakage? I'm considering it as a purchase and love rainy day camps. I have the Subaru Forester Wilderness but your Subie is very sharp.
Thank you for joining our camping adventure and Kampkeeper does very well in all weather! I used in heavy snow storm, rain and hot day and no leaks and kept us dry!
Hi Patrick, I didn't worry about battery dying until this trip. I had the same set up on my previous trip and it was fine but it died on me this time. So I might look into getting a hatch catcher.
@@ChasingAdventuresCO You can also turn off your dome lights - there is a setting where they turn on when the door is open or you can just turn them off. For the auto dimmer stuff for eyesight on the side view mirrors you can close the latch on the hatch and use your booper and lock/unlock buttons to open it back up. (At least I think that's what I did on my first camping trip where we tried this - it took us a while and several google searches to figure it out - derp)
I am glad you asked because soon as I purchased mine on Amazon, the seller deleted the item and was not available but I just checked it again after seeing your question, they are back and even better price than what I paid for. I put the link on the video description. Check it out. So far, I had zero issues so far and I they are bang for the buck!!
I was just looking for subaru videos. This guy at least hopefully monetizes this activity somehow, but for anyone else it seems like a very expensive waste of time.
Great video. Will have to watch the others now as I started on this one! Love the Outback, I have a 22 Sport version here in Australia and so far it’s been great. Have made a couple of UA-cam videos on my setup but may borrow some ideas from your. Mine’s youtube.com/@deepwoodswa2572 if you ever see it pop up. Cheers and have fun.
Hi Mark. I appreciate it and subbed to your channel! Can't beat the backdrop of Australia!! And of course, you can borrow any ideas from my video. Cheers!

Haha. I don't know why, too, but it sure does! Gimbop is a great outdoor soul food! Used to always pack it when going to field trips as a kid.
That speaker/music to flame transition was 🔥 excellent content all around bro.
Like always, thank you for your compliments and I knew you would appreciate that transition! 😊 🙏
❤❤ you have very nice camping gear table and all cooking supply
Thank you, I try to make sure I have everything I need for a comfortable and enjoyable camping experience!
Molto bella questa camperizzazione❤
Thank you!
Look at all that brand new camping gear. Like a REI commercial
Lol. I wish REI sees it and sponsor me ~

Thanks to your videos, I pulled the trigger on this tent. Looking forward to using it this weekend!
that is great to hear! let me know how you think after your trip~ have a safe trip!
Ty for another wonderful video.. What are the extended struts holding the latch up? Can you link those for me?

Oh. Thanks for joining us from the other side of the world!!
A roll of astro turf with some carpet underlay stuck on as backing would be super comfortable as tent flooring ?
that would be nice! I will show my packing foam padding next time I camp in a tent with a flooring.

I didn't lift it but hearing from others, they haven't had issues with it as long as you dont go too crazy. mild 1.5 lift shouldnt cause any issues.

They are columbia boots, but I think they are discontinued because I don't see them on their site anymore.
