@fjf sjdnx Ricks are better for the price. The German Hofners are just as expensive for some reason, even though Pauls original was cheap as hell. Hofners are meant to be cheap.

This solo was by Lennon but you couldn't be more dead on about Harrison's ingenius knack for solos. The other Beatles admired him and relied on him for it. It's why he was in the band. He created many splendid lead parts for Beatle songs that practically made the songs in themselves. These gems inspired countless guitarists, some of the best ever. An example was Steve Lukather who said Harrison's solo in I Saw Her Standing There was why he learned to play guitar. "I wore the needle out picking it up and playing that solo over and over," he said. Jeff Lynne said Harrison had a "velvet touch" on slide and "... was my favorite ever". Mick Jagger himself said of Harrison, "as a guitarist, he invented many classic lines that were much copied by others..." Your opinion may not apply on this particular song but is right on the money in general and shared by discerning musicians and fans everywhere.
This song has made a spectacular comeback in recent years, which goes to show that even seemingly minor compositions from the lads had the midas touch.
This song has always been popular when allowed to be heard so I wouldn't call it minor. The Beatles management just didn't push it at the time and it kind of got lost. It was thrown on an unimportant album. I remember becoming a Beatle fan as a teen in later years and then one day I heard this great song and wondered what is that? I knew it was Beatles, but was shocked I'd never heard it before. It was not treated properly when it was created.

This is great! You are one over the very few people on UA-cam who gets George Harrison's guitar part correct during the section where John signs "You can talk to me." Most people don't know about those slides.
It seems like back at that point in time, the Beatles more rocking songs weren't being appreciated and pushed as much as the ballads and lighter material. I guess the marketing people weren't aware that harder rocking songs would take over soon. The Beatles management didn't want to push songs like Hey Bulldog, I Am the Walrus, While My Guitar Gently Weeps or Revolution. They preferred going with things like Hello, Goodbye. The test of time has shown that the more rocking songs have lasted and continue to be popular to this day, but they couldn't have known that back then.
Honestly stunned at how accurately you nailed the tones, performance, groove, note freaking perfect. It honestly sounds like a studio take from the boys themselves. Unbelievable
The guys are great. They do a gret job. The definitely didn't nail the tones here though. That is to say there is vast difference in the tones heard in the final mix of HB to these recordings.
When Yellow Submarine was originally released to theaters in 1968, the song was deleted from American prints of the film due to time constraints. The restoration of the Hey Bulldog sequence of the film did not occur until 1999, when the film was re-released along with a new soundtrack album, Yellow Submarine Songtrack.
