  • The reading test has 40 questions to answer in total.
One mark for each correct answer.
The test lasts for 60 minutes including the transfer time.
The content of the test will depend on whether you are taking the Academic or General Training modules.
The IELTS Academic Module contains three reading texts. Three long texts which range from the descriptive and factual to the discursive and analytical.
These are taken from books, journals, magazines, and newspapers.
The texts may be written in different styles,
At least one text contains a detailed logical argument.
Texts may also contain diagrams, graphs, or illustrations.
If texts use technical vocabulary, then a simple dictionary definition is provided.
You will need to transfer your answers to an answer sheet.
You should be careful when writing your answers on the answer sheet because you will lose marks for incorrect spelling and grammar.
You will need to read quickly and efficiently and manage your time.
