I don't really understand why she received 5.7 in her technical merit. Only two clean triples vs Ito's six triples. Her technical merit is TOO generous.
a couple judges scored Witt and Ito as having the same technical merit...... Must be nice to be Witt to win with a 3 toe and 3 salchow and have a whole section devoted to slow gliding and posing.
Might not be perfect, but whenever any females skater performs to Carmen, their performances are always compared to Witt's Carmen!!!

Great Skating! Not really one of her best. She was still very aggressive on her jumps! love her!

Lets face it, those were reputation based. Which back then in the sport was a huge thing.
The judges had no choice but to inflate the first mark if they wanted to get her atop the podium.

i dont know how THIS beat midori ito. no difficulty and NO artistry. lots of 2 feet skating, spins were horrible. ugh. hotmess dot com.
