      In her video about grimoires from a while back she addressed fear about messing by giving ideas on how to "fix" mistakes and even ripped out a page of her book to show that it ultimately doesn't matter. It really inspired me and might help you too

    Molly I have to personally thank you. I been in a depression episode (when people with depression get random periods of intense sadness that can last for days,weeks or months)
    for a little over a month. I haven't done anything witchy, artsy or art witchy in a while. I have been a subscriber to you for about 2 or 3 years now and I absolutely ADORE you. I been watching the videos of you where you are creating. Watching you create brings me peace, joy and inspiration. Your personality, soul, and energy are so bright and beautiful it's hard not to smile while watching you. Thank you so much for being you. Your energy is contagious in best of ways. You just warm my heart and soul and watching you for the past week or so has helped me crawl out of my depression hole and start creating. It's helping so much and I owe that to you. I have tears of joy in my eyes writing this. THANK YOU SO MUCH. You are such a beautiful person. 💜💜💜

Instead he was one of the most boring and buttoned-up people ever. “Copy this. Then do your own version” was all he ever said. No elaboration, no context, no joy or expression, no encouragement, and all emphasis on the accuracy of the copy. Thank you Molly for being the art teacher I never had! 🌞

    Thank you so much for the inspirational pep talk. It reminded me of an art instructor I had several years ago for watercolors. She encouraged us students to be brave and put the paint to paper, and that no alarms would go off, the fire department would not show up, and there would be no explosions. It was a safe place to explore and be creative. You Molly, evoke the same feelings of peace and joyful exploration of my creative self. Thank you! 💗💥

  • @curiositydrawsme9180
    @curiositydrawsme9180 Рік тому

    I love this, Molly!
    Seeing you use the existing structure of the board books and transforming them into something so personal and creative is reminding me:
    I have some instructional/textbooks which I’ve kept in storage long after my use of them went dormant, because I guiltily felt like I still hadn’t squeezed out of them all the value I paid for them: in money, hope, time. I have been believing that all the potential of what I wanted to learn from them was still hidden inside the books - rather than inside of *me* and waiting for ignition.
    In response to the generous, generating, propagating energy of your video, I have decided to reclaim a dusty book or two and to make what’s inside of them a vibrant, creative, and living exploration of the things I had hoped to learn from them... to make an experimental garden or “test-kitchen” to allow my own ideas about the subjects in these books to get messy and emerge and grow… and for me to be able to center my own wonderings and creative ideas on these subjects as every bit as valid as the ideas originally ensconced in the books (hello, accounting-textbook, and how-to-book-with-disconcertingly-tiny-print-and-confusing-language - I’m looking at you).
    I’m imagining what’s already in the books as a kind of seed that I can water with my creativity, and create some kind of “kitchen garden” with which to add flavor and savor to my life as a maker. I look forward to using these books as mulch, or a rich, loamy soil, and seeing what grows in the presence of my focused attention on these topics... I love the idea of using my own creative approach to cultivating my own ideas about those topics, lovingly tending to my own ideas about what I had hoped to learn from these books, and actually being nourished by it.
    It gives a new meaning to the book-term, “Digest”.
    I’m looking forward to some awesome, nurturing and nourishing experiences. Thank you for your inspiration and examples!

    I used to be so artistic growing up. Always drawing or painting, doing all sorts of crafts. But now turning 29, I've noticed that I've lost so many parts of myself, including my love for reading all the time. I have so many grimoires that I would love to be my old self with again, but I can't bring her back and now they just sit there. It breaks my heart. I love watching your videos, though. Always hope that the inspiration will strike.
