i came from your dynamic range myth video, and that was really helpful and eye-opening experience. One of these Steadicam workshops is also held in Japan. I wanted to join but the prerequirement was too high to join. It's really nice to know your experience in this training!

Very nice channel and a breath of fresh air - less sensationalism and a more down-to-earth approach, with Greg being very relatable. Of course, I also came here from the dynamic range video which is an underrated, underpromoted, underliked and undershared masterpiece. Now, this is proper education and knowledge sharing. Very good job and keep up the extremely good work! Subscribed and liked!

Thank you! I guess the lack of sensationalism is exactly what keeps my channel from growing 🤣 so stay tuned for outrageous clickbait and hyperbole haha

    Great video! Very informative.
Of course for smaller cameras you can get cheaper rigs around £300 like FLYCAM

That sounds ridiculously difficult almost like making a pourover with my feet 😅

At least with Steadicam there's no chance of spilling boiling water on your privates, so there's that

I've always had those ads about steady cam workshops in my newsfeed, and wondered what it is like. Thank u for sharing

It's not the same thing, really. I would be hard to hold the 4D up to eye level for a long take, for example. So you need an easy rig. And the travel of the z axis is very short compared to like 70cm boom range on the steadicam. Plus it's very limiting on the lenses you can use. And Steadicam can fly any camera (even imax lol). Etc etc. Different things.

Friend, tell me, is it necessary to have a camera without matrix stabilization for a Steadicam? If there is matrix stabilization, then the stabilization will not be natural?

99.9% of cameras that fly on a Steadicam don't have IBIS, but that doesn't mean it's not going to work. Personally I would definitely turn IBIS off, at least.

What is your opinion about modern cheaper alternatives to steadicam, like tilta float or thanos pro ii?

For a solo creator the rule is "whatever works". But you're not getting anywhere near a film set with those.
