Seattle city attorney's office seeks removal of judge from future cases, alleging bias

- The Seattle city attorney’s office wants a certain judge off its criminal cases moving forward, accusing the judge of being biased in several of her rulings.
The office issued a memo last week informing prosecutors and the court it will be filing “affidavits of prejudice” for Seattle Municipal Court Judge Pooja Vaddadi on all criminal cases moving forward.
This action will not affect Vaddadi’s current cases, but the court will have to find other judges to assign to any new criminal cases filed by the city attorney’s office in municipal court, which court officials say will put a strain on the system.
“It came as a shock, I had not heard any complaints directly from the city attorney about the way I preside over matters," Vaddadi said. "I was elected to this job and I’m carrying out what I’ve been elected to do, which is to impartially preside over every matter that appears in front of me in court and ensure that each side is following the law.

Soft on crime judges are a huge part of the problem cities like Seattle are facing.

Not necessarily. She found no probable cause for no contact orders, which is an unconstitutional way to take away someone's right to possess a firearm. Judges like to rubber stamp it, but she didn't. So its possible other judges and lawyers are "progressive", and not liking it.

There is literally no substantial information in this piece. It is biased against the judge and yet doesn't go into specifics on why the judge is being removed from future cases. This is lazy reporting, honestly. Guess you can't expect anything else from KOMO news, they probably just got this off reddit or something.
Are you surprised? KOMO constantly leaves out key information leaving the viewer to guess what's actually going on. It almost feels like KOMO purposely leaves out information that they know could be inflammatory to either direction based on one's own inherent biases.
Especially given that NONE of her rulings have been overturned by a higher court. Why didn't KOMO ask the City Attorney's office about that...?
KOMO is known for being pretty progressive in their stories. My guess is they're probably covering for someone.

This sounds like the prosecutors does not like the judge as there was nothing was stated against her. She just pissed someone off! Which when she is cleared just going to make it worse for that person
Hello everyone, I need a psychiatrist or someone that is good at reading eye contact to respond here. I believe this woman speaks the truth and something is not right about Seattle. Why would they do this and why would she come forward to the media? I believe I am opening a really good debate here with reason here and I need someone that specializes in reading eyes and physical emotion to help promote the truth (that’s what law enforcement does). I am voting for a change, and everyone knows what I’m trying to say. But this is very serious, considering the 50 cent predictable spike in fuel prices in western Washington. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, then you need to do more research and get out your box ESPECIALLY if you live in the West. THIS IS KIND OF STRANGE just saying.
To make a Body Language assessment, we'd need a longer amount of footage of her to establish what's called a Baseline -- THEN look for aberrations from it during certain questions. And it would help to have more than just her head in view, for a better reading. But I agree, I think there's something more going on here...especially when none of her rulings have been overturned. 🤨

What "Due Process" is in place to protect a public official duly elected by the citizens? This will taint her career forever and it's disgusting. You can't be a City Attorney's office with a 100% outcome for your criminal cases. Seems more a contradiction than conflict. Surprised Seattle, or any of the other 'highly progressive' cities even bother with criminal courts these days. The normal thing to do would simply decriminalize those 'crimes' that are piling up. The ongoing issue with trying to retain, let alone recruit those who normally would be out there identifying, capturing and arresting those who were committing offenses, then kicking them right back to the streets to recommit the same crimes over and over again, because a DAs office didn't want to pursue charges, or courts would release with little if any bail, calling it 'equality', may not sit well with those who are not so 'progressive'. I will admit that all those making such policies and laws were those the majority of voters wanted. I'll respect that outcome, but when those same people start to complain about how things turn out, I just pat them on the back, wish them the best of luck, and remind them they continually elect those same people over and over again, so just shut up and accept that they get what they want.
The issue of a feeble DAs office having a problem with a judge that's 'too lenient' just makes me think it's a Sit-Com looking for someone to sponsor their program.
