Basic difference between Hinduism and other religion 1) There is no founder of Hinduism and there is no set of rules in hinduism.2) There are multiple holy scriptures . 3) There is no rules binding for Hindus. You can or cannot visit temple,you may believe in God or may not believe, you are still considered as Hindu. I call myself an atheist Hindu because I don't believe in God but Hinduism gladly accepts me as Hindu which is why I am a proud Hindu although atheist. 4) There is never any conflict or violent clash among various Hindu sects simply because Hindu beliefs on diversity well accepted in this religion. 5) Durga Puja is widely worshipped among our communities but Lord Ganesha worshipped in western India is also our God with similar devotion and belief although goddess Durga is our main deity. 5) There is no concept of conversion and if you believe yourself a Hindu,you will be well accepted in Hinduism. No question will be asked. 6) In entire history of Hinduism, you will never find a single Hindu religious martyr who solely sacrificed his life to establish the supremacy of Hinduism. Hindus never consider their religion as supreme truth and treat all religions as equal. Hence dying for religion is anti Hindu concept.

@@venkateshnatarajan2941 Buddhism preaches vegetarianism but in China, where highest number of Buddhists reside albeit unofficially, most of them are non vegetarian. Same is in Japan too. Ahinsa is their main path but in Burma and Srilanka,monks encourage Hinsa. There are so many Buddhists groups who worship God although Buddhism doesn't admit the presence of God.

What confuses outsiders about Sanatan Dharma is the multiplicity of gods and goddesses in our Dharma. But actually we take all these divinities to be manifestations of the one Brahma or creator. So we don't find any contradiction in this multiplicity. So when we meet anyone we say ," Namaste" which means I bow to the divine in you. Actually Madam ji and Sir ji, it is written that whenever there is a need, the lord will appear in the form of an avatar to help mankind. This is why when other reformers appeared, it was seen that they appeared to teach us something, to show or put us on the correct path. Hence there was no problem in accepting them and to reform the religion.

Hasikahji, actually Sanatan Dharma is not a religion but a way of life.Here Dharma means righteous duties.What is a dharm or righteous duty of a son? To serve their parents.
Hinduism is a name given to this way of life to counter challenges from the Abrahamic religions erupted from 1st AD onwards.
There is no mention of name Hindu in our Vedic literature.

One of the fundamental belief of Hinduism is everyone of us, be it human, animal, threes or for that matter anything in this universe is an embodiment of God. In fact there is nothing but God anywhere. This core belief creates tolerance for others. A true Hindu will not see others from the standpoint of a Religion rather as a form where God resides. If you treat everyone as God, how could you fight with them or hate them. Hinduism just like other religions believe in one Supreme godhead which is all knowledgeable, all powerful and all love. But the similarities end there. In our religion we have crores of Gods and Goddesses but we have no conflict among us. The reason is we do not care about the path as long as we all agree in the same goal, that is get out of the cycle of Karma and attain Moksha or liberation. That is why we have several ways to attain it and all of them are valid ways. One should pick the way or ways that he or she feels appropriate to him. There is a whole philosophy behind it. For that you will have to get into the depth of Vedanta, Upanishads and Bhagwat Gita. The 4 Yogas, Karma yoga, Gyana Yoga, Bhakti Yoga and Dhyana Yoga are all different ways to attain liberation. The whole attempt of a HIndu in his life time is how to detach himself or herself from the effects of Karma. The rebirths continue until you are free of your Karma. That is when you get Liberation.
This is too complex even for the Hindus. It can not even be explained in a week or month of studies. It is simply vast and there is immense self knowledge inside.

3) You want to worship idols - please go ahead. You are a murti pujak.

5) You want to criticise something in our religion. Come forward. We are logical. Nyaya, Tarka etc. are core Hindu schools.
6) You want to accept beliefs as it is. - Most welcome. Please go ahead with it.
7) You want to start your journey by reading Bhagvad Gita - Sure !

Fact is, Bhagwan Buddh, Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain, Bhagwan Guru Nanak jee & etc, the all were Sanatani Hindus only and they worshipped Hindu Gods only and the learnings they got, they preached to a sect of people who later died their community. This was important bcz at certain point of time, bcz of other religions influence, there were certain unwanted, unrealistic & unsocial practices had evolved, and these Gurus challenged it and tried to change it with changing times.
