  • The new Triumph Speed Twin is a handsome bike as it comes from the factory, but, having now lived with it for a few weeks, I've decided the long plastic tail end has to go! In this video I attempt to fit a new tail tidy from the nice folks at TEC bike parts.....now I don't have a great track record doing this sort of caper, will this one prove more straightforward than the R&G one I recently fitted to my Honda CRF? Finally went in to see one of these in person, after your reveal. 1. The Street Twin isn't just smaller, but they replaced about every neat design element from the Speed Twin with cheap plastic turn signals and finish materials. :( 2. Wow, the Speed Twin has a whole new level of finish quality and looks amazing in person.

    Nice video, I've just changed the plate holder on my Speed Twin yesterday but I choosed the FreeSpirits option for two main reasons, I'm from Portugal, and the FreeSpirits model as options for many countrys plate screws configurations, and the other reason, witch I can see by your video that I was wrong, was the plate light use, The photos I saw didn't look like had that option. Overall both options are pretty much the same. The one issue I had was that I had to find a way to add the rear reflector, that's mandatory here in Portugal. The licence plate material is reflective so I don't understand the need for an extra reflector in the back, but well, it's the law here. The holder also has 2 screw holes in the middle where we can fit the reflector, but I had to ad a rubber spacer between the plate and the holder so that the screws head that would hold the reflector could have space.
    Cheers
    Edit: yep, I've checked TEC product page and in the photos there is no plate light installed, they should update those photos. That's one of the things that made me look for other options.

    Sorry to hear about the tennis elbow. I suffered from that a few years back caused by running a hammer drill one handed. (Yes, if you’re going to dumb, you have to be tough.) Dr told me if I took care of it and did the PT it would be better in 18 months, or I could have surgery followed by months of painful PT and it would be all better in 18 months.....😳. Hi TMF, how many miles on yours now? I picked mine up on the 2nd Sep and now sitting at 760 miles. I cannot get enough of the motor especially in sport mode which I had left alone up until this point in deference to running the new engine. Should be called giggle mode!
    I installed Thruxton R silencers and a Motone X pipe at 30 miles, which I have to say was a bit of a challenge, which gives a lovely deep tone and much cheaper than V&H silencers.
    Shock and forks to be done over the winter.

    • @karlosh2422
      @karlosh2422 5 років тому +1

      If you have performance parts you definitely need to inform insurance. I told my insurance about the dresser (crash?) bars but that didn't seem to bother them.
      Some cosmetic and luggage type things don't seem to bother them, but I guess it's a good idea to inform them, but then they like to claim "admin" fees !
      The most idiotic one I had is when I recently passed my test my insurance company charged me £11 extra for the privilege of riding my 125 around on a full "A" licence. I thought they should have given me money back, because apparently the DVSA examiner thought I was not too dangerous !
