Hey, good to see Pete on the blog. We go to church together and he helped me landscape our place about 15 years ago. Little known fact, Pete was on the golfing long ball drive tour, he can hit a golf ball a LONG way!
I thought I knew how to fence until I started watching Luke and actually called him. Great guy, very willing to help you with any questions that you have.
That termination knot looks just what I use to do wire leader for toothy salt water fish. I love watching this fence project, I'm learning so much, its really amazing how strong it is.
I'm glad I saw this because this is exactly what I need to do around a property I am planning on buying. Thank you for posting and I will be following you.
I’m trying to do perimeter fencing on my place. But it’s mainly all on a hill of various degrees. My tractor or skidsteer are of no help. Y’all are doing nice work.
Another great video, thank you. I'm going to fence my six acres in a month or two so this is absolute gold, learning heaps. Keep up the good work. Cheers Pete.
Pretty impressive I must say. That stretcher bar sure snugs everything up tight!! This might be a stupid question, but is the fence secured to any of the poles going down the line? Probably the next step I'm guessing .... I've only ever known wood post fencing so this is all new to me. 😊 ✌🏻💛🇨🇦
Yep....so the fence is attached to the poles via wire ties....they are designed as the "weak part" of the fence in case a tree falls on the line....the wire tie releases and the fence pops right back up after you cut the tree off
Josh - I have 200 acres as well. It’s a big L shape. The whole place needs new fence and I’m really digging this fence system. I am very curious what the whole project is costing you. I like the idea of having a professional come teach the first couple miles then finishing all the cross fencing myself. I have a couple hollers to cross so that ain’t gonna be fun! Haha
So....this fence project is gonna be different for every peice of land...and every person. Best thing I can do is point ya in the direction of Luke farmfencesolutions.com give those guys a call. Behind the scenes this video series was planned out 2 years ago with Farm Fence Solutions. It's been a great teaching series to share with folks that are thinking of building with tornado wire and steel posts. Many more videos will be produced with me working alone so you can see how it all goes up. Best get your footage together and call for a quote on materials/labor if needed. Should be almost everything you need in these videos for education. Steel prices fluctuate so pricing will fluctuate accordingly too
*Now THATS a Badass Fence!* ...... I spent over a year (by myself) putting in a 4 rail high wooden fence with 6x6 oak post...$$$ . I shoulda done just the road front (house side) with the 4 rail post for aesthetics and this High Tensile on the rest of the property! .... I wonder if the horses can deal with it okay i.e. (See it and Rub-on it ok?) Ive seen horses run through many fences, maybe you can ask the pros, Josh?
Josh! You must be pumped! What a fun series and you have some awesome intelligent people there really transforming you land! Id say your just getting started but congrats on all the success so far! Ive watched every video over the last 3 or so years and appreciate all the knowledge you have shared!

Hey Josh thanks for the video man I enjoyed it and I am going to get myself a fence like that one day in the near future and woo that one's for you Josh
I just ran 9 gauge and splicing it was horrible. My fingers hurt from working on it. But fence is a love hate relationship for sure. I put the heavy up because my kids climb it and calves chase them into it.
I grew up with a REED Beavers. Real short guy. His first car was a 57 chevy which had a lot of problems. To work on it, he would climb up under the hood and sit ON the engine.
Good fence, only comment on the wooden fence corner post test, would like to see the test with a diagonal brace to the second post back to see what the movement would have been....(Only because we use Cedar fence posts in South Texas historically on our barbed wire fencing. Pipe and "T" posts have come into play more in the past 25 years or so.)
So the fence looks good but is there gonna be a top wire either barbed or electric to stop large animals from leaning over?? Seen lots of this type of fencing look great for a short period of time from large animals leaning over.
Thanks Josh I just got just over 7 acres and I am putting a fence up and will be starting a youtube channel please look for the upload around middle of August just having trouble with a youtube channel name if you have any idea for name please don't hesitate. The one I thought about was forestry ridge as there are a ton of tree's lol.
TheHobbyShopFilms We cope with a bandsaw, and will do a detailed video with Josh. We have a very boring tutorial on our UA-cam channel, so check us out if you can’t sleep!
Just curious Josh, how do you plan to address weeds along the fence? I know you like to stay away from chemicals if possible, so spraying is out of the question I assume? Love what ya do, keep it rolling!
I have roughly 300’-400 of fencing I need to put up to finish my project . I’ve put it off for several years now because I’m not sure how to handle my problem. My property used to be farming land in central alabama. There are terraces everywhere. My other fence line went w the terraces but this last line will run perpendicular to them. There are at least a dozen along this line and the way it’s ran there is about 50’ to 100’ in between each terrace. The elevation difference is about 10’. In between some of them are man made mounds of land that either rises up or dips down causing a fencing nightmare (for me). It was caused by folks trying to flatten out the land prior to my purchase of the property. I’m using t-post and 6x6 post for my fence. My question as you might’ve guessed is how do I run this fence properly with all of the land differences and still make it look decent without having large gaps under the fencing? When I tried to stretch it I couldn’t get it tied to each post because it’d be on the ground at the post but down the line it’s be above my head (using tractor bucket to stretch). I’d try to tie to each post then let the fence down to tie it to the next but the elevation difference caused wrinkling in the fence. I got so frustrated I just stopped. Probably a simple answer but i thought I’d just throw it out there to see what comes back.
always stand right in line with the winch cable - after tying a jacket to it, of course. For safety. Bracing on the corner posts? No. Expensive equipment. Yep. Drone. Check. Just another farmer working in the fields with his drone. And no gloves. WOOOOOOOO!!!
So I have a fencing question. Can I stretch to an angled corner, staple to the wood double H Brace there. Then continue to the next corner, staple there and keep going? Or will I need to cut and wrap at every corner even the angled one. When I say angled, it's not 90 degrees, maybe 45 degrees.
Where was that stretcher bar when I was hanging fence? Wife and I used two pieces of wooden 2X4 with 5 bolts and nuts and 2 come-a-longs. That device is slicker then owl poo. Are you going to tie the fence to the other posts now?
