  • Rare in Australia this XJS bought sight unseen months ago but has now finally arrived. Imported from Honk Kong a few years back she has suffered from the Hong Kong humidity and heat. Can I bring her up to her formal glory without spending too much money though.

I have 16 inch lattice wheels, they really do make a difference to the looks and drive.

I had an early 3.6man XJS a few years back. bought in sight unseen flew to Melbourne and drove it make to Brisbane up through Goondiwindi. Didnt miss a beat! Give those seats a good drink of Gliptone leather softener and the conditioner afterwards. They will appreciate a good drink!

Looking good brett, nice import a dealership near me about 20 mile away sell only Japanese imports and they are always really low mileage and they sell anything they can get from jaguar's vans full range but they are expensive, should be a great car with the new wood and other jobs done enjoy

Well done & great video thanks. Many HK cars spend most of their lives in dry underground car parks.

Some would say the 3.6 is the xjs to have , doing away with the v12 complexities. The 3.6 in there makes it a good daily driver, and if worse comes to worse , there's as always a 4.2 engine somewhere to put in

Fascinating. Hong Kong is a small place, so taken together with the good condition of the seats and the lack of wear on the steering wheel, these factors may indicate that the exceptionally low mileage is genuine. In which case you've got a stonkingly good bargain.

My 93 has the 16 inch lattice wheels, don’t have any issues. Same colour too. Be interesting to watch this, good luck from Leighton Buzzard in the U.K.!

I lived in HK and not many places to drive to- I suspect mileage is genuine. 3.6 engine is pretty tough and pretty simple- check the valve clearances as that's a weak spot. HK cars rust like you wouldn't believe and so this looks amazing considering but it's probably been through the paint shop at least once. HK Chinese repaint cars like most people wash them and are masters at using bondo.

Original paint Frank except for a few panel, bonnet, lh door, Rh guard have been painted. Humidity has caused the most damage

Nice new project… I think those lattice wheels drop straight on to an XJ without problems ?
I can just see her sorted out and cruising with “Hong Kong money” by Dr Feelgood coming through the stereo !

Love your XJ-S. Why do pepperpot rims have so many holes? So they sink faster. 😀

I know I'm probably gonna get shot down in this comments section, but I personally think the xjs is a better looking car that an E-type.

My first Jag was a '90 Signal red 3.6 with a TWR kit on it. Looked stunning on the outside but underneath the skin the thing was as rotten as a pear, it peed power steering fluid and might as well have been a convertible when it rained, driver side door rubber was shot. Had the big TWR wheels on it which also rubbed on full lock. Loved that thing though. And watching this video has made me want another one. Looks like you got the makings of a really nice car there. I'm new to the channel and I can't wait to watch this project.

Brett mate, I have to ask why would you go for a 3.6? Is it to complete a collection of XJS’s? I just bought one, but a V12. Ok, Maybe a 4.2 but a 3.6!
Just kidding. Each to his own. I would be keen to meet up. I would appreciate some authoritative analysis of my new Jag. I’m in Sydney BTW but open to a trip to the central coast. 😊

Haha! I wonder if old mate got sick of no cup holders. Ive thought about installing them in mine a few times. This is the XJS to buy though. It'd be alright on fuel I reckon too ay. Nice car.
